As for the reason?
It was actually quite simple.
Why would a well-behaved kid, who had worked hard to save up for his college tuition before they arrived, suddenly spend a large sum of money for no apparent reason after they showed up?
Purchasing all sorts of combat books, video recordings, and equipment just to diligently learn combat techniques?
Just on a whim?
Carlisle Cullen had thought so at the time.
After all, teenagers’ thoughts were always fickle.
But during the time Mike worked at his clinic, through their limited interactions, Carlisle completely overturned his previous assumption about that fickleness.
In his interactions with Mike, Carlisle held him in high regard.
It could be described in one simple sentence: Mike was an exquisite egoist.
“Egoist” was not a good word.
It counted as a form of selfishness.
But an exquisite egoist?
Heh.
Just look at Mike’s reputation in town and you would know.
Almost everyone thought Mike was a loving and sensible good kid.
Mike’s way of doing things.
Mike’s way of speaking.
In Carlisle’s eyes, this was simply not the state a normal teenager should have.
It was far more like an old fox who had weathered many storms and was carefully disguising himself.
Today, in particular, further corroborated Carlisle’s thoughts.
Little old fox?
Carlisle thought to himself, looking thoughtfully in the direction where Mike and Alice had just left.
In the dense forest, Mike and Alice moved swiftly, rapidly approaching the wandering vampire trio not far ahead.
With the aid of his super-strong sense of smell, even from a distance Mike could still detect and pinpoint where those three thick, foul odors were coming from.
Soon they reached a valley within the Olympic Mountains.
Mike brought Alice down and landed directly in the valley.
Compared to Alice’s light landing, the feeling of Mike’s arrival was like the coming of Gaia, Destroyer of the Earth.
Accompanied by a loud boom, he stomped a large crater into the ground.
Alice blinked at him.
Mike shrugged.
It was not that he could not control his strength.
He had done it on purpose.
In a word, this way of making an entrance was very cool.
The wandering vampire trio not far away had been waiting here for a long time.
Mike and Alice’s sixth sense was very strong.
Laurent, James, and Victoria’s sixth sense was not bad either.
Mike, wearing a gentlemanly expression, smiled and waved at Laurent, who stood ten meters away.
“Hi. We meet again. What a coincidence.”
The three of them looked at each other.
A coincidence?
Laurent thought to himself, staring at Mike expressionlessly.
“Mutant, what do you want?”
Mike held up a finger and shook it.
“My name is Mike. Mike Lance. Also, let me correct you. I am not a mutant.”
Laurent could not be bothered to care whether Mike was a mutant or not at this moment.
He repeated, still expressionless, “Mike, what do you want by chasing us?”
This guy would not be thinking of killing them, would he?
The thought arose in Laurent’s mind, but he immediately dismissed it.
A mere mutant and a vampire were simply no match for them.
Mike still wore that gentlemanly smile.
“It’s like this, Laurent. I chased after you mainly because I wanted to invite you to play a game.”
James, standing next to Laurent, hissed and stepped forward.
“Is that so? Is the name of this game ‘I Can Eat You’?”
Mike looked at him.
“Of course. Provided you clear this game.”
James’s expression changed.
Mike lowered his head for an instant.
When he looked up, a strange dizziness suddenly appeared in his deep blue eyes, like the deep sea.
In that moment, Laurent, James, and Victoria, who had been vigilantly watching Mike’s every move, were instantly captivated by the strange vortex that appeared in those eyes.
They could not break free.
They could not pull away either.
Just as Laurent, James, and Victoria felt drowsy, a voice full of temptation, as if it had descended directly from the heavens, reached their ears.
“Do you want to understand the meaning of life? Do you want to truly live? YES / YES!”
The three of them woke up instantly upon hearing the last part.
Both options were YES?
In the next moment they stared at the black hole that had suddenly opened before them.
It emitted an incredibly strong gravitational pull that dragged them inside.
They looked at Mike, who still wore a faint, elusive smile, and shouted, “Damn it, what did you do?”
Mike shrugged innocently.
“What could I do? You agreed to the game yourselves. I didn’t force you.”
The moment the words left his mouth, Laurent, James, and Victoria vanished from where they stood with a swoosh.
The black hole that had opened up also disappeared without a trace.
Mike chuckled and asked Alice beside him curiously, “Did I lie to them?”
Alice did not speak.
She only glanced at him with a charming look that said everything.
Don’t you know in your heart whether you lied or not?
YES?
Or… YES?
This is not a multiple-choice question at all.
After rolling her eyes, Alice asked, “Where did they go?”
Mike did not hide it.
“Do you remember that world we visited before?”
Alice nodded and frowned.
“You want to imprison them in that world?”
Mike laughed.
Imprison?
That would be letting them off too easily.
He just wanted to use these three to test-run the Main God World.
Although he needed to control ten worlds before the Main God Space could officially go online, every amusement park still test-ran each facility after it was built to make sure everything was foolproof.
The worlds controlled by the Main God needed the same treatment before being opened.
Moreover, as Mike had just said, this was a game.
A very dangerous game, but one that still held a glimmer of hope.
Yes.
A glimmer of hope.
The Main God Space was actually the same as Jigsaw’s game.
If there was a glimmer of hope, it was called a game.
If there was none, it was called a slaughter.
Feeling that Laurent, James, and Victoria were ready at the starting point of the script, the corners of Mike’s mouth curved slightly upward.
He invited his vampire girlfriend with a low, teasing note in his voice, “Are you interested in watching a script performed for us by the three of them, Alice? Just you and me… private screening.”
Alice smiled charmingly, a spark of mischief in her eyes.
“Of course.”
Mike waved his right hand, blasting out a black hole that flickered with seven-colored light.
Then he performed a gentlemanly bow, inviting her with a lingering look that traveled slowly down her figure.
“My dear, please.”
Alice performed a lady’s curtsy in return, the corner of her mouth curling as she stepped closer.
“Thank you, my dear.”
Not long after, when Mike and Alice entered the seven-colored black hole and stepped onto the green grassland, the colorful portal that had appeared silently in the valley vanished once more.
