Mike’s expression remained one of a faint, mocking smile.

However, Mike pulled back his right hand and draped it around the shoulder of Bella Swan, who was still stunned.

With a gentlemanly smile, he looked at the trio of wandering vampires before him.Full novel: Twilight: Rise of the Main God — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Snack? Are you thinking of eating me and my friend?”

As he spoke, the crack in the ground that had just been split open by Mike’s blade was emitting a sizzling, corrosive sound.

Laurent narrowed his eyes.

Mutant.

Unlike them, the vampires who frequently hunted humans, mutants were a group that maintained a basic distance from the ordinary world.

And to put it bluntly, compared to vampires, while mutants generally didn’t have such long lifespans, their abilities were truly bizarre and unimaginable compared to theirs.

Fortunately, since World War II, mutants and vampires had always maintained a state of mutual non-interference.

And now?

Laurent revealed a faint smile and said to Mike apologetically, “Once again, I apologize on behalf of my companions. Mutants, of course, would not be a snack.”

Mutants had another characteristic.

They held grudges, and not just ordinary ones.

If you provoked or killed a mutant, and other mutants found out, the entire mutant community would enter a state of agitation.

Simply put, if you dared to kill a mutant, the next day, the entire mutant community would come knocking on your door.

During World War II, a general had captured a mutant and attempted to study their genes, but the general died on the third day.

The Pentagon didn’t even dare to announce the general’s name, all to prevent the general’s descendants from being wiped out entirely.

But in the end, the Stryker family still vanished into the dust of history…

After speaking, Laurent turned around, intending to take his two companions and leave.

Mike did not stop him.

Soon, the wandering vampire trio disappeared into the black mist once again.

After a while, Mike removed his right hand from Bella’s shoulder and gave her a very apologetic smile.

Bella kept her head lowered.

Edward Cullen, thinking Bella was still in a state of shock, felt somewhat nervous.

Mike chuckled as he looked at the spot where the trio had left, his expression becoming somewhat strange.

Just let them go like that?

How could that be.

The ancestors had long ago left behind a lesson that they hoped their descendants would remember.

If you don’t pull out the weeds by the roots, they will grow back again when the spring breeze blows.

Mercy to the enemy is cruelty to oneself.

There were many more, and Mike could go on, but these two sentences were enough to clearly express his attitude toward this matter.

Alice looked at Mike, somewhat puzzled.

Mike turned his head to look at Edward, who was over there comforting the terrified Bella, and said, “Edward, you read the minds of those three people just now, right?”

Edward looked up and frowned.

“Yes, I read James’s thoughts. He will hunt us because it makes him feel like this is the most exciting game he has ever played in his life.”

Mike smiled and asked, “Then what should we do?”

Edward followed Mike’s line of questioning and said, “We can only take the initiative to kill him, tear him apart, and then burn him to ashes. Otherwise, we will be endlessly entangled by them.”

Mike nodded, spread his hands toward Alice, and said, “See, that’s what I meant too.”

Alice frowned.

“Then why did you let them go just now?”

Mike smiled slightly.

“Bella was here just now.”

Alice pursed her lips.

However, the next second, Mike suddenly leaned into Alice’s ear and smiled, his voice low and warm against her cool skin.

“Besides, I also quite enjoy this feeling of hunting.”

Mike understood himself very clearly.

Even though he now possessed the peak combat power of the Resident Evil world, he was far from being a match for three battle-hardened vampires.

He was not the mutant Mike.

He was the Main God, Mike.

Mutant Mike couldn’t beat them, but the Main God, Mike, could completely hang them up and beat them, even if he only had one world.

Alice looked up at Mike again.

Mike smiled and said no more.

He took Alice’s arm and waved at the Cullen family with a smile.

“Don’t wait for us. We’ll be back soon.”

Carlisle frowned, wanting to say something.

But in the blink of an eye, Mike and Alice had already disappeared from sight.

After a long time, Emmett Cullen, with his arms crossed, frowned, as if talking to himself or asking someone else, “Is Mike a mutant?”

Rosalie Hale indicated she didn’t know.

Carlisle shook his head very firmly.

“No. Mike is not a mutant.”

Rosalie and Emmett turned their gaze toward Carlisle.

Carlisle came back to his senses and said, “I know a few mutants living in Washington. They have a special instrument. Once a new mutant awakens outside, they are taken back to the base. Mutants are even more secretive and united than we are.”

Several people were confused.

If Mike wasn’t a mutant, then what could he be?

Rosalie suddenly shook her head and chuckled.

Emmett nodded in agreement from the side.

Carlisle also pulled himself out of his thoughts, glanced at Bella, who was being held tightly by Edward, and said, “I think we need to leave here as soon as possible.”

Rosalie asked, “What about Mike and Alice? You guys go back first. Emmett and I will follow them. Maybe we can help.”

Carlisle shook his head.

“No need. Since Mike dared to chase after them, it means he has a way. You going over there will only cause trouble for him. Rest assured, they will come back.”

Rosalie asked back, “You’re that sure?”

Carlisle did not speak.

As the head of the Cullen family, besides possessing his own unique ability, Carlisle also had one very obvious characteristic.

That was that he could perceive the aura of the children in the family at all times.

But a few nights ago—to be precise, the night Mike invited Alice to watch a movie—Carlisle lost the ability to perceive Alice’s aura.

Just as Carlisle was hesitating whether to go to Mike’s house to investigate, about two hours later, Carlisle stopped at the entrance of Forks.

There was no other reason.

Alice’s aura had reappeared.

Carlisle didn’t tell anyone about this.

After sensing that Alice had reappeared, Carlisle returned directly home.

Plus, there was today’s incident.

Although Carlisle couldn’t be sure what species Mike was, he knew Mike very well.

Let’s put it this way: Mike’s self-control was unprecedented in his experience.

After all, a simple example could describe it.

There were three hundred sixty-three students at Forks High School, but Mike was the only one who, through his own efforts, had saved enough for his first year of college tuition while still in high school.

The most important point.

Carlisle strongly suspected that on the day they moved to the town, Mike had already known their true identities.
