The woman with curly hair quickly explained, "Young Master, for the past few years, most of the Hundred Flowers Building's income has had to be handed over to headquarters. With so many people to support here, President Shen's hands were tied. She had no choice but to order everyone in the building to find their own ways to earn a living, which is how this incident came about."
Hearing this, Ye Feng's eyes narrowed slightly. "So they took most of the money, did they? I have a feeling someone in the Hundred Flowers Building has sticky fingers. When I'm finished here, I'll make a trip to the provincial capital. I'd like to see for myself what they need so much money for."
After he spoke, his expression softened. He looked at Shen Qing and asked calmly, "Do you know how to cut hair?"
Shen Qing quickly replied, "Reporting to the Young Master, I do."
"You can cut my hair," Ye Feng said, sitting down in a chair.
Shen Qing's eyes immediately lit up. 'He's giving me a way to save face!'
She quickly rose and personally gave Ye Feng a haircut. Afterward, the entire group respectfully saw him out.
Ye Feng looked down at his rather shabby clothes and muttered to himself, "I should get a change of clothes."
He walked to a nearby Armani boutique, went straight to the entrance, and pushed the door open to enter.
A saleswoman with curly hair was scrolling through her phone. When she saw Ye Feng's almost pitifully shabby clothes, she immediately looked back down at her screen.
Ye Feng glanced around before pointing to a black suit. He turned to the saleswoman and asked politely,
"Miss, could you get this suit out for me to take a look at?"
"Miss!"
"Miss!"
He called out three times, but no one paid him any mind. Ye Feng walked over and tapped the curly-haired saleswoman on the shoulder.
"Miss, if your hearing is that bad, you might want to get a hearing aid."
The curly-haired saleswoman looked up, sized Ye Feng up and down, and said with a disdainful smile,
"Do you have any idea how much a suit here costs? Let me tell you, the cheapest ones start at sixty-eight thousand. Do you really think you can afford to shop here? Do you have that kind of money?"
With that, she pointed across the way, her face a mask of annoyance. "Look, over there is where you can afford to shop, understand? Now scram. Get out. The reek of poverty on you is nauseating just having you stand here."
The words had barely left her mouth when Ye Feng suddenly raised his hand and sent a resounding slap across her face. He then looked at her, a wide smile spreading across his own face, and asked, "Now, still feeling nauseous?"
"You…" Seeing that Ye Feng had actually dared to strike her, the saleswoman flew into a rage. "Fine! You stinking pauper, you actually dared to hit me? You're not getting out of here today. You are so screwed."
But the saleswoman had barely finished speaking when an icy voice cut in from the doorway. "You worthless snob, what gives you the right to act so arrogantly in front of this gentleman?"
"Who the hell do you think you are, telling me what to do?" Hearing someone dare to challenge her, the saleswoman erupted in fury. She whirled around to glare at the speaker, ready to unleash a torrent of curses, but the next moment, she got a clear look at who it was. Her expression changed in an instant.
She scurried forward, an obsequious smile plastered on her face.
"President Shen, I didn't recognize you just now. Please forgive my rude words. I wasn't aiming them at you, I was just talking about this hillbilly who came in to freeload off the air conditioning."
The newcomer was none other than the manager of the Hundred Flowers Building, Shen Qing.
When Shen Qing saw Ye Feng leave the salon and head straight into the clothing store, she knew he wanted to buy clothes and quickly followed him. She never expected to walk in on such a scene.
Shen Qing shot the bowing and scraping saleswoman a cold glare and snorted. Without giving the woman another glance, she took several quick steps until she was standing before Ye Feng. She spoke respectfully.
"Brother Ye, what kind of clothes would you like? Please, pick out whatever you want. I'll pay for it."
Cui Biao had already warned Shen Qing that Ye Feng didn't want to reveal his identity, so she had to be careful what she said.
That was why she hadn't exposed his status, instead addressing him respectfully as "Brother Ye."
'Brother Ye?'
The name hit the saleswoman like a clap of thunder, leaving her utterly dumbfounded.
She could never have imagined that this shabbily dressed Ye Feng was actually Shen Qing's brother.
Who was Shen Qing? She was the manager of Jiangcheng's Hundred Flowers Building.
And what was the Hundred Flowers Building? It was the most profitable establishment in all of Jiangcheng, a veritable den of opulence where a single day's revenue could easily buy this entire boutique.
She had never dreamed that this hillbilly, Ye Feng, had such terrifying connections.
Remembering her earlier rudeness toward Ye Feng, the saleswoman's face went pale with fright. She stumbled over to him and said with a sycophantic smile,
"Sir, I am so sorry for my offensive words just now. Please forgive me. Rest assured, I will provide you with the most exceptional service from here on out."
The words had barely left her mouth when Shen Qing spun around, glared at her, and said icily, "Someone like you, a worthless snob who judges people by their appearance, thinks you're fit to serve Brother Ye? Go get your manager."
As soon as Shen Qing finished speaking, a bald man in a suit hurried over, an obsequious smile on his face. "President Shen, what can I do for you?"
Shen Qing sneered at the bald man. "How would I dare give you any orders? Your establishment is for dignitaries and VIPs. What right do I have to tell you what to do?"
Hearing the sharp edge in Shen Qing's voice, the bald man's face went pale. He glared at the saleswoman, his expression darkening as he demanded,
"Speak! How did you offend President Shen?"
The saleswoman quickly tried to explain. "Manager, I didn't offend President Shen! I just said a few things about that hillbilly… oh, no, I mean, about that gentleman…"
Seeing the saleswoman stammering incoherently, Shen Qing spoke up calmly. "Allow me. Your saleswoman here said my brother was a hillbilly who wasn't qualified to shop in your store. So let me ask you, is this how you do business? By being snobs who judge a book by its cover?"
After hearing Shen Qing's explanation and glancing at Ye Feng's plain, almost shabby, attire, the manager instantly understood what had happened.
'This blind fool of an employee offended one of President Shen's relatives! She's going to be the death of me!'
'If I can't find a way to appease President Shen, I won't even know what hit me.'
At this thought, the manager spun around and fixed his gaze on the saleswoman, his eyes instantly turning bloodshot with fury.
