Miss Y doesn’t like applying lip balm. She finds it greasy on her lips, and sometimes it leaves an unpleasant taste in her mouth. The lip balms we buy at home are basically only used by me. The only exception is when her lips get incredibly chapped; I’ll sneakily apply some on her at night after she falls asleep. One time, I was typing away in the study when she came in to call me for dinner.
Seeing me putting on lip balm, she pattered over, stood by my side, and asked me to put some on her too.
“I thought you didn’t like using it because of the taste?” Even as I said this, I still unscrewed the lip balm and raised my hand to apply it to her lips. Before it could even touch her, Miss Y took a step back.
“I don’t want it applied like that.”
“Then how do you want it?”
Miss Y suddenly leaned close, her breath brushing against my face—so close that I could clearly see the faint, soft fuzz on her skin.
“I want it applied like this,” she said, moving in toward my lips.
Feeling the sensation on my lips, the greasy feeling of the lip balm gradually melted away. By the time the kiss ended, neither of us had much balm left on our lips.
“One more time, it didn’t get spread evenly,” I said.
“Then how about we try a different flavor this time?” Miss Y looked at me with a completely flushed face, though I couldn’t tell if she was blushing from shyness or turning red from holding her breath.
The Bed Sheet Cover-Up & Crying Over Anime
When I’m not at home, Miss Y completely unleashes her inner wild child and smokes directly in bed. It’s not that I don’t let her smoke, but she actually managed to burn a hole right through the bed sheets while smoking in bed! Afraid that I would scold her when I got home, she immediately found a piece of cloth to sew it up.
However, the sheets were made of silk, and her sewing skills aren’t exactly stellar, so she only ended up making the hole even bigger.
Having no choice, she took it out to a professional tailor to get it mended.
When I came home, I found Miss Y lying right where I usually sleep. When I told her to go back to her own side, she claimed that changing spots occasionally was more comfortable. Without thinking much of it, I gave in to her. The next day she went to work, and I stayed home to clean.
When I was folding the duvet, the sunlight hit the sheet, and I instantly noticed something wasn’t right.
Should I say Miss Y is smart for knowing how to find someone to sew it? Or should I say she’s silly, because while it looked okay in dim lighting, it was glaringly obvious under bright light.
One look at that sheet and I immediately guessed it was a burn mark from Miss Y smoking in bed. I suppose this is the perk of having been together for so long—you instantly know exactly why the other person did something.
Talk about a deep understanding! I sent Miss Y a message asking if she was hiding anything from me, and she just replied with an emoji scratching its head, smiling blankly.
Once, I was moved to tears while watching an anime. Miss Y sat beside me, watching the tears stream down my face, and even helped hold tissues to wipe away my tears and snot. But while wiping my nose, she didn’t grip the tissue properly, and her fingers accidentally touched my snot.
She immediately wiped it right back onto my face with a look of pure disgust! I screamed at her through my tears, asking if she was out of her mind and why she was wiping it on my face.
She casually replied that she was just returning my snot to me, leaving me caught entirely between crying and laughing.
The Ring Surprise & Secrets of the Slush Fund
I still remember when Miss Y and I were filming a transition video. I had prepared a ring as a surprise gift for her, slipping it onto her finger right when she held up a peace sign. With a face full of pleasant surprise, she immediately extended all ten of her fingers out toward me.
I stared at her with my eyes wide open, while the look in her eyes clearly screamed: Put them on all my fingers right now! That very day, I had to take her out and use my secret slush fund to buy the remaining nine rings.
Afterward, for every single surprise video we filmed, I had to prepare ten rings for her.
My secret savings were completely drained down to the very last penny. I am absolutely never doing that kind of surprise again—my poor slush fund, ahhhh!
Our salaries go into a joint account where both of us can deposit money and see how much the other person spends. Sometimes, when publishers give me bonus rewards, I secretly hide them away as a slush fund, since everyone needs to go out and unwind occasionally.
Miss Y had also saved up a portion of a slush fund, which was an open secret between the two of us. After buying those ten rings for Miss Y, my secret savings suffered a massive shrinkage.
Consequently, I went to Miss Y’s secret stash spot and took out two bills. Miss Y keeps her secret money in a piggy bank, so she didn’t actually know exactly how much was inside. Every now and then, I would use a bobby pin to fish a little bit of cash out.
I did this completely undetected—though of course, I only dared to do it two or three times, as I wouldn’t dare do it too often. At most, I took 200 yuan at a time. I still rank quite high as a good partner, after all!
High School Memories & The Ear Piercing
Back in high school during the winter, I used to give Miss Y a ride to school. She was terrified of the cold but refused to wear gloves.
Every morning on the electric scooter on the way to school, she would slide her hands straight inside my clothes to touch my stomach, complaining that my body wasn’t warm enough. I hadn’t even complained about her hands being freezing cold! Later on, she became increasingly shameless.
Taking advantage of the fact that the scooter’s windshield blanket blocked most of the view, she would always grope around randomly.
The main issue was that I’m incredibly ticklish, yet she kept messing around. It was just too much! Was she going to school, or was she just there to take advantage of me? One evening after we moved in together, I brought this up with her, and she still shamelessly admitted that she did it completely on purpose. As she spoke, she even reached out to rub my stomach again. What an absolute rogue! I’m going to take her to court!
Miss Y wanted to copy me and get an ear piercing, but at the final moment, she chickened out because she was afraid of the pain. However, the deposit had already been prepaid. To avoid letting it go to waste, I happily ended up with yet another ear stud.
One day back in high school, Miss Y sent me a message during class asking if I wanted to save the world. I slowly typed back a question mark to her. She just pushed back, asking whether I wanted to save it or not. After thinking it over, I replied, “Let’s save it then.” Consequently, that day I had to copy Miss Y’s handwriting to write out ten copies of a self-reflection essay, explaining why she was caught reading novels during class. When I asked Miss Y why I had to be the one to write it, she looked at me with a perfectly rehearsed, aggrieved expression and said:
“Aren’t I your whole world? Don’t you want to save me?”
Even though I knew perfectly well that Miss Y was faking her tears, I still gritted my teeth and finished writing them all for her. As a grand reward, I ended up sleeping through a class the next day and got lectured by the homeroom teacher. I didn’t want to speak to Miss Y ever again after that.
The Tiger Hat & Ten Pounds of Tremella
In the winter, there was a vendor selling cotton hats outside the school gate. Miss Y took a liking to a tiger-head hat, but she didn’t have enough money, so she trotted over to borrow 20 yuan from me to buy it as a gift for me.
“You borrowed money from me, just to buy a gift for me?”
“Yeah, exactly! Don’t you like it?”
“It’s alright, I guess.”
Despite what my mouth said, my body was very honest as I put the tiger hat right on. The hat was crocheted from yarn and looked incredibly festive. I actually loved it so much that I wore it all the way into the spring of the following year. It wasn’t until the entire hat started unraveling that I finally put it away and stopped wearing it. Thinking back on it now, I can still recall the warmth that hat brought me.
Once, I flew out to another city to host a book-signing event. That night in the hotel, Miss Y sent me a message asking why humans have to work, and if it’s absolutely mandatory for humanity to go to work.
After pondering for a moment, I replied: “If you were rich, you wouldn’t have to work. But since we don’t have money, we need to work.” Miss Y wept, saying she wished a sudden fortune of 10 billion yuan would fall from the sky, and I nodded in absolute agreement, saying I wished for the exact same thing.
Never let someone who doesn’t manage the household buy groceries. Miss Y mentioned on her way home that she ran into someone selling tremella (snow fungus) and wanted to buy a little bit to eat. I told her to go ahead and buy it if she wanted to eat it. Then Miss Y added that she might have bought a bit too much. I thought to myself, how much could “too much” possibly be? When I got home and took a look—it was ten pounds of tremella!
Miss Y explained: “I originally just wanted to buy a tiny bit of nuts to eat, but the vendor said she had a little bit of tremella left over and could sell it to me at a discount. I thought a little bit wouldn’t hurt, so I let her bring it over.
When she asked how much I wanted, I didn’t count, so I just randomly blurted out ‘five kilograms’ (ten pounds). I thought five kilograms was just a tiny amount, but then I watched her bringing over box after box.
By that point, I felt too embarrassed to back out, so I bought it all. I’m sorry, Ruru Baby…”
Sighing, I glanced at the mountain of tremella in the living room and then at Miss Y, who looked like she was on the verge of tears. Oh well, looks like I don’t need to plan the menu for the next month—we’ll be eating tremella every single day!
The Diamond Painting & The Drool Incident
Recently, Miss Y fell in love with diamond paintings.
She often buys small ones to take to work so she can slack off and play with them, and she even bought a gargantuan one for the house.
Every evening when she gets home, the very first thing she does isn’t eating dinner anymore—it’s running straight over to stick diamonds onto the canvas. She won’t budge even when called for dinner, working continuously until 10:00 PM before finally calling it quits.
By the time she packs up all her diamond painting supplies, it’s already 10:30 PM. Skipping dinner entirely, she goes straight to sleep, only to continue slacking off at work the next day.
I originally thought she would be obsessed with this for a long time. However, half a month later, she was caught slacking off by her boss, who deducted 200 yuan from her salary. That instantly cured her diamond painting addiction. Every night after that, she came home crying over her lost 200 yuan, clinging to me like a koala bear and following me wherever I went.
She was just too clingy! In the end, unable to bear her daily crying, I dug into my own pocket to reimburse her the 200 yuan, and only then did she finally cheer up.
Sometimes when Miss Y is exhausted from work, she snores very easily when she sleeps at home. Snoring is completely understandable and just human nature. But along with snoring, she also drools—all while insisting on hugging me tightly as she sleeps.
In the middle of the night, I felt something wet on my face. When I reached out to wipe it, I realized it was liquid. Having just woken up, I was completely dazed, wondering where on earth the water was coming from and whether the ceiling upstairs was leaking. Then, I felt another cold drop hit my face.
It turned out Miss Y was sleeping right against my face, and her drool was dripping directly onto me! I immediately shook Miss Y awake and told her to stop sleeping—her drool had gotten all over my face!!!
The Crispy Pork Weight Gain Journey
Miss Y fell in love with eating deep-fried crispy pork strips (Xiaosurou). Since buying them outside is quite expensive, she asked me to make a batch for her to eat every day. During that period, the cooking oil in our kitchen disappeared incredibly fast, and Miss Y’s weight climbed just as quickly.
Every night she would declare that she would never eat it again and that she needed to lose weight, only to wake up the next morning demanding that I fry up some more crispy pork for her, claiming it would be perfectly fine to start the diet tomorrow.
Toggling back and forth between dieting and eating meat like this, she successfully gained a significant amount of weight. It was from that exact moment onward that Miss Y truly made up her mind to lose weight for real. Looking back, that was truly a dark period of time!
Since she was starting a diet, the very first rule was that I had to diet right along with her; otherwise, if she saw me eating delicious food, she wouldn’t be able to resist eating it either.
Naturally, if she exercised, I had to exercise too; otherwise, she wouldn’t have the willpower to keep it up. The second rule was that I had to cook delicious, healthy weight-loss meals that would keep her full every day without making her gain weight.
The third rule was that I had to monitor her workouts and strictly forbid her from eating junk food. I had to follow all three rules perfectly, or else she would ignore me.
Well, just to keep Miss Y from ignoring me, I conscientiously abided by these three rules every single day. After bitterly persevering for over a month, we successfully dropped back down to our original weights. That very evening, she excitedly took me out to feast on barbecue. Fortunately, she didn’t gain any weight the next day; otherwise, she would have lectured me all over again.
The True Miss Y
What kind of person is Miss Y? When I first got to know her, she was gentle, dependable, and someone you could truly lean on. Back when we were deskmates in school, whenever my period arrived, there would always be a cup of warm water waiting on my desk.
She always carried a sanitary pad in her bag, along with candies to prevent anyone from fainting due to low blood sugar.
When someone bent down to pick something up, she would silently shield the corner of the desk to keep them from bumping their head. When handing scissors to someone else, she would always point the sharp blades toward herself.
During conversations, she would notice the quieter people who weren’t speaking and actively draw them into the discussion. She remembered everyone’s likes and dislikes, and her interactions with others were always patient, gentle, and warm.
After entering the workforce, her professional capabilities proved exceptionally strong, making her a highly reliable teammate. When someone else made a mistake, she would patiently guide them through the correction rather than scolding them. When she got dragged down by a work blunder, she would tell the other person in a completely casual tone: “It’s fine, I trust you’ll walk a steadier path next time.”
During meals, she naturally pours tea and water for others, and she will help elderly ladies cross the street. She loves helping people and is entirely selfless—she even once rescued a little girl who fell into the water. With a Miss Y who is this wonderful, who could possibly help but love and adore her?
When opening a door, she naturally looks behind her to see if anyone is there, afraid that the closing door might hit someone. When sharing an umbrella with someone else, she will tilt it toward them, even if it means getting half of her own shoulder completely drenched. She always says “Thank you for your hard work” to delivery drivers and offers them a bottle of water.
Even if someone does something that genuinely upsets her, Miss Y won’t yell at them; she will only communicate politely, asking the person not to do it again. Being around Miss Y feels incredibly comfortable. Perhaps it is because of all these little details combined that I have come to love Miss Y more and more, and have become completely unable to live without her.
As for why Miss Y is sometimes so childish, so goofy, and so lively and adorable right in front of me—I attribute it all entirely to love!
