Her words were left unfinished, and the atmosphere became a bit oppressive.

“Forget it, Arabella.

Do you remember how you comforted me when I was heartbroken in college?”

“…”

Arabella Vanderbilt’s eyes flickered but she didn’t speak.

Isabella Harrison sighed softly and continued in a low voice.

“As mere visitors in life, we arrive without a place, let’s not fixate on where we hail from.

To be content with what comes is not the worst, for there is fragrance to be found everywhere.

Oliver Timmerman is just a passerby in your life; there is no need to linger over him.

Arabella, you’re so outstanding, you deserve someone much better.”

She deserves someone much better…

Arabella gripped her phone tighter suddenly, as a face, both familiar and strange, flashed across her mind.

But it was merely a fleeting moment before she silently curved her lips into a smile.

It seemed her anger had clouded her judgment, leading her to such far-fetched thoughts.

“Arabella…

are you okay?”

Arabella came back to her senses, “…I’m fine.

I just think…

you’re right.”

Isabella breathed a sigh of relief on the other end of the call, “Alright then, take good care of yourself, I might get busy over here…”

“Okay…”

However, just as they were about to hang up, Isabella’s voice came through, pleading for attention.

“Wait a second, Arabella!”

“Hmm?”

“That thing…

Are you going to continue working at Oliver’s company?”

Arabella was taken aback, she hadn’t considered this question before.

“Here’s the thing, my development department is really short on people.

If you don’t want to stay at Oliver’s place, could you come and help me first?

I know you still have Star International to manage, left by your Aunt, but I really…”

Arabella pondered for a moment, then replied softly:

“Since we’ve broken up, I have no reason to continue staying at his company.

Anyway, I’m used to being busy over the years.

If you need me, I’m ready to join the fray anytime.”

“Ah—my dear, you’ve really saved me big time.

Ask for anything you want, whether it’s fetching water, massaging shoulders, leg beating, or even an offer of myself, anything is worth it to have you on board…”

Isabella’s rare excitement managed to dispel a great deal of Arabella’s gloom.

She laughed softly, “Isn’t that a bit exaggerated…”

“Exaggerated?

The whole world isn’t as lucky as I am, okay?

You know you’re…”

“Alright, alright, cool down a bit.

Don’t you have things to attend to?

Go on.”

“Okay!”

Isabella, having taken care of a huge concern, sounded much lighter and cheerier than at the start, and promptly ended the call with satisfaction.

After the call ended, Arabella’s mind was somewhat distracted.

She was just about to stand up, thinking of going out for a walk and some fresh air, when the phone rang again.

She hesitated for a moment, then picked up the phone, with the screen flashing an unfamiliar landline number.

After a brief hesitation, thinking it might be a client from Oliver’s company, she answered the call.

“Hello, good day,” Arabella spoke with her usual business-like tone.

“…Hello…

hello!

Is that Arabella?”

A spirited voice came through, yet it was still possible to discern that the caller was no longer young.

A flicker of uncertainty passed through Arabella’s eyes.

“It is.

May I ask who this is…”

“It’s Grandma, the one from last time…

under the gardenia tree.

I heard from Vincent that you wanted to see me…”

The uncertainty in Arabella’s eyes quickly gave way to recognition.

“Yes, Grandma, I promised to spend time chatting with you.

It’s been many days; I’m sorry for the delay.”

“No worries, your health is what matters!

Now, if you’re alright, come over now.

I’ll ask Vincent to pick you up.”

Arabella looked at the weather outside, then replied with a smile:

“Okay.”
