Paz and I sat on the floor of our cage, quite ironically having the most satisfying meal we'd had in years. Or.. millennia in her case? Time in that place was weird. It was just some potato soup with gritty bread and it tasted like mana from the heavens. Huh, I wonder if that's where the other meaning derived from.
"Fuckkkkk." My ginger girl moaned and took another bite. "I forgot what taste felt like!"
I nodded agreement and sopped up the last of mine with my bread, chewing carefully so that I hopefully wouldn't damage a tooth on the grit.
"So what do you want to do first once we get to Arcadia?" I wiped my hands on my bare thighs and climbed to my feet. I paced around the cage, looking for weak points while Paz finished eating.
"Oh, umm.." She quickly swallowed what was entirely too much for her tiny mouth. She coughed and slapped her chest and then let out a long burp as her eyes watered. Ladies and gentlemen, that's my delicate princess for you. "We'll need to find money and a place to stay. We'll need pretty dresses and weapons and armor and spell regents and lots of yummy food."
I turned back and looked at her and planted my hand on my hip. "Well, are you sure you don't want a few castles to really round things out?"
She smiled shyly and a blush crept into her pale cheeks. "I'm just saying, we need shit to live."
I nodded. "You're not wrong. I just meant more along the lines of things to do for fun."
"Oh!" Her gaze drifted off until it was a million miles away. When she finally spoke, her voice was even softer than usual. "The memories are foggy, but I believe there used to be an upside down waterfall in Arcadia. I really want to check that out."
I nodded happily. "I've not seen it myself, but yes, I hear it's spectacular. I'm really excited to see the Infinite Library!" I turned back and examined the lock. "By any chance, do you know how to pick a lock?" I looked at her over my shoulder.
Paz sputtered for a few seconds and then did a twirl, showing off her naked body. "With fucking what, my dick?"
"I wasn't thinking." I shrugged sheepishly and let out a breathy chuckle. And then I got lost in thought while staring.
Paz turned progressively brighter shades of red until she covered herself and waved a hand in front of my face. "I'm very flattered when you look at me like I'm the last meal you ever want to eat in this life or the next, but can we get back to escaping please? Flirting later."
I tore my eyes away from her perfect body. "Right! Of course. These hinges look really old and rusty. Come take a look at them with me." I got down on my hands and knees and started wiggling and inspecting the rusty hinge.
After a minute of messing with it, I looked back over my shoulder at Paz. Her entire body was crimson, her legs were shaking, and her eyes were unblinkingly locked onto my ass like it was a Weeping Angel that was about to grab her. Shit, I had been wiggling it at her while I worked on the thing. I gave her a shit-eating grin. "I'm very flattered when you look at me like I'm the last meal you ever want to eat in this life or the next, but can we get back to escaping please?"
Paz smiled and shook her head but still couldn't stop staring. I bit my lip and then opened my mouth to beg her to forget all of our plans and agreements and take me right here and right now. But then I realized her eyes were pleading with me. And I knew my Paz better than I had ever known anyone in my life. She was pleading with me not to ask, because we both knew that if I did, she'd be over here in a flash and she wouldn't stop until I couldn't walk.
I closed my mouth and pulled my knees together as I faced Paz and flipped over into a sitting position. This was not the time or the place, we still hadn't had The Talk, and neither of us wanted our first time to be on the filthy floor of a slave cage.
Paz mouthed 'thank you' and wobbled over to me. She collapsed to the ground beside me and also pulled her knees together.
"Can't we ever catch a break!" Paz threw up her hands.
"We certainly fucking deserve one." The tension and nerves got the better of her and she giggled which made me start giggling. Soon, we were both laughing hysterically.
"Well, you two certainly seem to be in high spirits, especially for the circumstances." We turned and saw that Jack, the friendly guard, had returned. "I would have thought being in a cage, to soon be sold as slaves, would be more of a downer."
"Pfff, this old thing?" I gestured around us to the rickety old cage. "Compared to the dungeon at the bottom of the demonic Abyss that we escaped a few hours ago, this place is pure luxury."
Paz nodded her agreement. "Yes, we were just waiting to make our escape until they fed us. The food was amazing compared to the demonic slop I've been eating for the last three thousand years!"
"This place has a much better view," I added, looking at the collection of tents and the trees beyond them.
"No demonic torturer with a whip." Paz had gotten quiet and fidgeted with one of the many scars crisscrossing her body.
Jack looked back and forth between us, the corners of his mouth twitching like he really wanted to laugh, but couldn't quite figure out the joke. His eyes got wider and wider as we just stared at him. "Y-you're serious?"
"Yup!" I nodded and pulled my tail out of the keyhole as the cage door swung open. "Oh hey, this tail just continues to impress me. I wish I'd had one years ago." I dusted myself off and stepped down out of the cage, before reaching back and offering my hand to Paz. As the gorgeous ginger stepped out behind me, I looked to Jack who stood there stunned with his mouth hanging open. "So, you coming with us or what?"
