Every inch of my body from my toes to the tips of my hair ached and throbbed with pain as I managed to open my eyes. My head was resting in Hannah's lap and I could see a sky full of stars above me. The wagon coming to a stop must have jolted me out of my exhausted slumber. Dreams shouldn't hurt this much.. but I had to be dreaming, right?
Just past the horses, I could barely see the final member of the group. Bethul'Dyr's smoky silhouette danced under the moonlight as they released the floating ball of light they had been using to guide the wagon and left it hanging in the clearing ahead of us. I pulled Hannah's cloak tighter around my still naked body as my teeth clattered in the cool night air. The voidling wizard raised their hands and gestured causing supplies to fly out of the wagon and start assembling themselves into tents.
I could smell the horses. I had never smelled horses before. Maybe if I asked nicely, they'd let me ride one?
Hannah scooped me up in her arms and carried me into one of the newly constructed tents. She laid me down on the soft bedroll and then ducked back out through the tent flap. I sat up and shivered, hugging my knees to myself. The angel-blooded cleric returned a few minutes later carrying a stack of clothes. She set them down beside me and then her hand rose to my face and gently rubbed my cheek.
“You are safe now, pretty devil.” Her warm fingers on my cheek felt like rays of sunshine and I couldn't help closing my eyes and leaning into her hand.
My eyes flew open a moment later and I looked at her. “Devil? I'm human!”
Hannah frowned. “Perhaps your mind did not escape entirely unscathed. Your skin is paler red than most of your kin, but I have never seen a human with horns and a tail.”
I looked at my hand that was indeed much more reddish-pink than it should be. My hands shot up and I squeaked as I felt horns that came up out the top of my head in a gentle spiral.
“I'm a freaking devil-blood! I've got horns and red skin.” This was all too much and I could feel myself getting overwhelmed. Dreams weren't supposed to feel like this.
“And a tail as well.” Hannah smiled as she captured my tail in her firm grip. I gasped and felt myself rapidly turning a much brighter shade of red. “It is sensitive?” The angel asked, almost to herself.
“Yes!” I hissed and bit my lip as she inspected the end of my tail.
“Oh!” A blush crept into her cheeks as she released my tail.
“That was an experience.” I shivered and tried to regain control of my breathing.
“Apologies. I have never seen a tail quite like that.”
“Yeah, this is all new to me too.” I gave her a smile that I hoped didn't show how freaked out I was feeling. “Until a few hours ago, I was.. in another world. I.. am I dreaming?”
Hannah tilted her head and gave me a long, hard look. "Perhaps you're still feeling the effects of the demon attack? It can be very disorienting."
Hmm.. Oh! If this was a dream, then this would be a huge wasted opportunity if I don't ask her. "Do you wanna have sex?! Like, with me?"
Hannah's eyes went wide and she leaned away from me. "You should.. take a few minutes to collect yourself and get dressed. You've been through quite the ordeal."
Well, that was a dumb idea and how was it supposed to tell me anything, anyway?! That's the same result I always get in real life and dreams!
She rubbed my upper arm as she stood and stepped out through the tent flap; ensuring that it was closed behind her to protect my modesty.
I started to reach for the clothes the angel-blood had left for me, but something felt different. Something was missing. I had to check with my moment of privacy. I slowly parted my legs and looked down. My cheeks flushed red and my thighs snapped together.
Holy shit. Holy shit. Holy shit.
Please! Don't be a dream. Don't be a dream. Don't be a dream. I'd only had this particular thing happen once in a dream. Gods, let this be my body now. I tentatively opened my thighs again and looked at my vagina. I have a vagina. Obligatory pinch test.
“Ouch.” The pain certainly felt real, just like everything else had. In fact... I reached over and gently snuffed the lantern sitting on a small box. I could still see just fine inside the dark tent. I had freaking dark vision! My tail wagged happily which made me giggle.
“Are you dressed, girl?” Hannah's voice carried in through the tent flap.
“Umm, just a little longer please!” I pushed aside thoughts about my new body; exploration would have to wait. I pulled over the stack of clothes and sorted through them. I found worn leather boots, rough wool panties, a bra that was little more than a strip of cloth, a skirt that came down to the ankle, and a complicated blouse/corset/bodice affair that was going to take some doing to figure out.
As I got dressed, I wondered.. could my campaign have come to life? I started running through what I knew, what I could remember, and what would be safe to say if it was real. Gods Above and Below, I wish I had my laptop with my campaign notes. But even in a world with magic and monsters and gods and demons, you couldn't run around just blabbing whatever about smart phones and cars and Elder Gods.
I laced up the bodice and pulled on the boots. I wished that I had found the time to get into cosplay, but I guess the real thing was a step above that. Finally dressed, I looked around the tent. Two bedrolls, a lantern sitting on a small box, and in the corner was Hannah's shrine to Iridatha, the goddess of Life Above. I looked at the two bedrolls and quickly ran through the roster. Gabriella and Cassandra would share a tent, Gregorius would have his own, Bethul'Dyr didn't sleep, and this was Hannah's tent. With a second bedroll, I guessed I was sleeping in here too, now. I certainly preferred that over having to share with Gregorius!
Satisfied with my nearly competent job of dressing myself, I pushed open the flap of the tent and stepped out into the dim light of early dawn.
