Meanwhile, back in the car, Odette continued driving as they all made their way to Delphine's mansion.
"He said his name was Joseph Sinclair. That was the name he gave." Odette replied whilst driving.
Logan had asked what the gunman said after she had asked who was responsible for tonight's assassination.
Hearing the name, Logan clearly didn't know whose name it was.
He turned toward Odette hoping she would know who it was.
"Have you heard of such a name before?" he asked Odette.
"No, I haven't, but I do know of a Sinclair household."
"Who are they?"
"They're one of the top ten biggest households in the country, but they reside in Alabama City, so it won't surprise me if the person responsible was definitely from that household."
The Sinclair name was definitely a common family name, but judging by the number of men sent to assassinate them, it was clear that the person who had sent them certainly didn't lack the funds to sponsor them.
"One of the top ten households in the country? Why would someone from such a prestigious household try to have my head?" Logan asked with a worried look on his face.
A part of him still believed that maybe the men had been sent over to kill him because of what must have happened to the men his mother killed last night.
"No, young master. I do not think they were here for you." Odette replied whilst driving and sharing a glance at her young master through the rearview mirror.
"Wait a minute. Do you mean...?" Logan asked, but paused.
Then he noticed how silent his aunt was, so he glanced over to her. "Aunt Delphine, does the name Joseph Sinclair mean anything to you?"
Logan asked, and now, he clearly saw how his aunt's face had gone pale upon hearing that name again.
The usual relaxed and warm vibe Delphine had a while ago had vanished away, and right now, all he could see in her face was pure fear.
"Y-yes." That was all his aunt said as everyone in the car turned silent throughout the rest of the drive back to Delphine's mansion.
Delphine didn't say anything else throughout the drive, and Logan didn't try to push her either.
For now, it was best to respect her personal space.
Anyways, time passed, and they finally arrived at Delphine's estate, which sat further out from the city centre, unlike Rowena's mansion back in Starlight City.
Looking around, Delphine's mansion was tucked behind a stretch of old-looking trees, indicating how long this house had been built.
Its design and architecture were miles apart from what his mother had back at home, and it was easy to see that his aunt particularly had an interest in specific sophisticated designs not commonly found anywhere.
Pushing this thought aside, Logan and the ladies finally stepped out of the car.
He swiftly glanced over at his aunt, and he could see that she was no longer having the gloomy air around her.
In other words, she was trying not to look scared and worried in front of Logan.
And that's why she was smiling right now as she walked closer to him, before pulling his arm and dragging him into her building.
"Come, come. You haven't been here in years, so I'll be happy to show you around for now, Mon cher, okay?" Delphine stated as she looped her arm through Logan's arm the moment they stepped inside.
She began to explain the moment they were inside. "When you were a little boy, you used to run around here every day to play. You would visit this spot here and that place too."
Delphine walked him from one room to the next with one arm resting on his arm the entire time.
Then she pointed out a painting he had once liked when he was a little elf, then she showed him the little alcove he used to love to nap in.
"And this was where your mother and I used to sit for hours, drinking wine and watching movies like Gossip Girl."
"Oh, that reminds me, there was a time when you were running around the house with one of the housekeeper's sons. The two of you broke one of my vases, and it was a very expensive one at that. Guess what happened next?"
"What?"
"The two of you said a masked man had entered the house to break it, and the next thing I knew, you two were sat on top of each other, wearing a long brown coat to dress up as Inspector Gadget, put to find the invisible culprit when it was clearly the two of you."
Hearing this, Logan couldn't help but smile, and even Delphine could be seen smiling as she shared the tale of Logan's mischievous little past.
The two chuckled a bit more until Delphine finally asked if anything he'd seen or heard so far was able to jog any of his past memories, but Logan shook his head in response, and Delphine smiled as she patted his shoulder softly.
"It's alright, dear. I guess we'll just have to build new memories together, okay?"
Delphine stated as a matter of fact, and Logan couldn't help but recall his mom saying something similar too whilst he was back at home.
And so with that out of the way, the two of them held each other's hands whilst walking to the kitchen.
Of course, Odette could be seen walking behind them as she subtly followed them to keep her eye on both of them.
Since something so dangerous had happened a few moments ago, Odette was determined never to let her beloved young master out of her sight.
Then she watched the two of them for a bit, holding hands like lovers, and something in her heart clenched a bit before she resumed her original state.
