Time passed, and now everyone made their way to the kitchen.
Delphine noticed the time, so she immediately placed her purse down and began pulling out ingredients from her refrigerator whilst humming softly with a smile on her face, as though the assassination event that had occurred a while ago never happened to begin with.
Anyways, seeing his aunt, Logan walked closer to help, but Delphine immediately waved him off.
"Let me help with this."
"Absolutely not."
"But..."
"Have you ever cooked before?"
"Um, no."
"Then sit, Mon cher. You've had a very long night already, so it's better for you to rest for now and let aunty prepare something for you, okay?"
Logan sighed softly and nodded in understanding.
However, Odette walked closer to Delphine and offered to help.
Since Logan would be sitting in the living room, Odette felt it would be strange if she were to just sit by his side whilst Delphine did all the cooking on her own.
Besides, she had just finished doing a third sweep around the house, so she was sure there was no one hiding in the dark or spying on them from afar.
But as for why Delphine didn't have any maids right now, Odette clearly didn't know why.
But she did recall seeing a couple of maids here the last time she visited with the young master.
Maybe something happened or maybe Delphine just hasn't alerted her household staff on her return from her travels yet.
Either way, she was eager to help Delphine in the kitchen, and the stunning dark elf didn't reject her the way she did that handsome nephew of hers in the living room.
"Chop these for me, please." Delphine offered Odette a bundle of veggies, and she immediately began to work after rolling up her sleeves and washing her hands.
The two women worked side by side in the kitchen for more than half an hour.
And throughout their hard work, Odette had been keeping an eye on her young master who had already turned on the TV to watch football.
Strange.
Very strange.
Never once had she seen him develop an interest in sports, but right now, he was clearly shouting and being vocal at a player in a dark purplish-red jersey playing in the eastern part of London.
Of course, this was still really strange, but Odette didn't mind cause it felt really nice to discover new things about the man who'd been on her mind throughout the whole day in an unhealthy number of times.
"Yes!!! Yes!! That's how you score!! Goal!!!" Logan's loud voice reverberated within the living room, and Odette could certainly see how happy he was right now, causing even her to get affected by his infectious smile.
Meanwhile, unbeknownst to both elves, Delphine had been watching them closely, and it was easy for her to see the affection blooming within the young bodyguard's eyes.
Of course, Delphine didn't say anything about it.
She simply decided to continue stirring the broth in the pot with a smile on her face as she wondered when the little half-elf had begun to develop feelings for her young nephew.
Moving on, time passed by in a flash, and now, everything was ready.
The smell of wine, butter and slow-cooked chicken now filled the whole kitchen as Delphine began to serve their dishes.
"Coq au vin, that's what it is. It's a secret family recipe of mine, but every time you visited in the past, it's what you always ask for, and back then when you were little, you would always eat two full plates on your own." Delphine explained as she set the dish down at the table and watched as Logan immediately took a bite of the meal.
His eyebrows shot up, and his eyes widened in surprise.
"Hmm, oh my gosh. This is incredible."
"See? I told you, you'd like it."
"Like it? I love it already." Logan dug in to eat more, and both ladies smiled as he began to ravage his meal like a voracious beast.
Seeing this, Odette tried her best not to chuckle out loud.
She was just glad to see him happy, and this immediately allowed her to recall what he had said to her last night about enjoying any meal that had chicken in it.
It seems she'll definitely need to never forget this important information about her young master.
And so, just like that, everyone focused on their meal.
"This is nice." Delphine muttered softly as she ate her meal.
It felt really good to eat with people on the same table, especially with those who made her smile and feel happy.
She could only hope a day like this would come for her to do the same with her stepson and stepdaughter, but even she doubted if such a wish would ever come true.
Both Konstantin and Freya hated her with every fiber of their being.
She knew both of them hated her because of what they thought happened to their father.
But no matter how many times she defended herself and tried to offer the truth that they were so blinded to, both siblings just continued to do what they felt pleased to do.
But no matter how much they hated her, Delphine was not going to back down on the promise she made to their late father.
The company shares were hers now, and no matter how hard her enemies tried to take it from her, she wasn't going to let their assassination attempt deter her from keeping her promise.

A/N: I've been thinking recently about increasing the release rate.
Although I've been unwell hence the sudden hiatus, but i'll be happy to increase it a little or more depending on your replies and support to the novel.
By support (a like of each chapter is more than enough to ginger me to keep writing. A review would be appreciated as well though)
Anyways, I'll be eagerly awaiting your responses.
Thanks for reading.
