Based on what he could find in his newly acquired memories, Logan watched as the previous host moved from place to place in search of the devil fruits.
He watched as the previous host moved from a warehouse district to a back alley bar, then to a run down apartment complex, asking anyone who might know anything about the whereabouts of these devil fruits.
However, he had also encountered a couple of gang members and bouncers with tattoos who immediately surrounded him for no reason.
Then each of them took turns slamming their fists into his guts, just for the fun of it.
Their laughter echoed loudly in the background but none of them bothered to give the previous Logan the chance to run despite how he tried pleading for them to let him go.
This instantly caused Logan to groan in pain as he watched how the previous host was brutally beaten to death.
But this made him have so many questions like why would he go into such parts of town on his own and why didn't he have Odette accompanying him as well.
But while Logan was thinking about all these, more memories flooded his mind and he groaned in more pain as he finally understood the tense relationship the previous Logan had with his mother.
He also realised why the guy didn't bring Odette along with him and this made Logan sigh deeply.
He understood the previous host's reasoning behind his actions based on the memories he'd obtained from the previous host's point of view, and this immediately made him feel sad because he could understand why his mother had said those words she said last night at home and in the hospital.
But since his soul had moved on, Logan could only hope his predecessor would be able to find a better life where he'll be surrounded with what would make him happy.
'But as for your mother and bodyguard, I can assure you when I say they'll be in good hands from now on.' Logan muttered internally in his mind.
'But I can't say the same about those bouncers who thought it was funny to laugh whilst beating up a defenseless man.'
'Don't worry about it.'
'I promise to find them one day and to make them regret what they did to you.' Logan vowed in his heart with a determined look on his face.
However, what he didn't know was that his mother had already begun taking the first step toward ending every single one of them before dinner time.
'Ugh, my head hurts so much right now.' Logan plopped down on the couch as he tried to think of what to do now.
But while he was thinking about this, he suddenly noticed a head poking around the edge of his door, watching him and his lips curled up a bit as he called out to his bodyguard...
"You know you can come in, Odette. You don't have to keep spying on me from there."
Hearing his words, Odette flinched a bit before slowly opening the door and stepping into the room.
"I'm sorry, young master. I know how much you hate it when I..."
"It's fine, Odette. I know my mother only asks you to do this because she cares about me."
"..." Odette was speechless and taken aback by how Logan felt relaxed and composed regarding how his mother had asked her to keep an eye on him despite how he'd always hated it when she did it in the past.
"Hmm, come to think of it, where is she?" Logan asked.
"The boss said she had something important to attend to and she won't be back until later tonight." Odette replied smoothly with the hope that Logan wouldn't detect that she had just lied to him regarding the specifics of where his mother had gone to.
But her response had only made Logan feel sad and disappointed.
"Oh, that's a shame. I was hoping to tell her I remembered a few things about what happened to me yesterday."
Hearing his words, Odette's eyes instantly widened in surprise and she took a step closer to him.
Before her departure, Rowena had informed Odette of what the doctors had told her regarding Logan's memory loss, but she had also told Odette not to worry too much about it because she was trying her best to help him familiarise himself with his surroundings and the memories of his past as well.
Rowena had also informed him of her name as well, so Odette wasn't really surprised when Logan had called out her name earlier.
"Is it true, young master? You truly remembered something?" Odette asked with an excited look on her face and Logan nodded with a smile.
Then he stood up and approached her before wrapping his arms around her in a hug, completely catching her off guard.
"Y-young master? I don't understand. Why are you...?"
"Thank you, Odette." Logan muttered softly as he tightened his hold on her.
Then he added. "If it weren't for you, I probably wouldn't have made it to the hospital in time."
"H-How did you...?"
"Mom told me about it and I realised I hadn't thanked you for it. So if there's anything you need, I mean it, anything at all, just ask and I'll see what I can do to get it done."
Logan stated, but the two pulled apart and Odette immediately shook her head.
"It's fine, young master. I don't really need anything. As long as the young master is well, that's all that matters to me."
"Nah, you deserve to have something. Hmm, how about I cook for you, then? As a way of saying thank you for saving my life." Logan suggested, but he immediately waved that suggestion away.
"Nah, scratch that. I'd probably burn the entire kitchen down and I bet mom would knock me on the head for even trying to act cool by walking around wearing nothing but an apron and a skirt while I pretend to be some kind of overconfident chef."
Logan's words immediately made Odette imagine him in a kitchen wearing an apron along with a skirt in what would have been a fashion disaster, and Odette couldn't help but let out a small laugh.
"Pfft...!"
She immediately stopped herself by quickly pressing her lips together, then she covered her lips with her hand, hoping Logan hadn't caught her trying to laugh right now.
But it was too late because Logan had already seen a cute side of her right now and he was genuinely pleased to be able to make a stunning lady around his age smile for the first time in both worlds.
