However, Logan wasn't done with her just yet, so he decided to try his luck a bit further.

"Hmm, so if cooking is off the table, I wonder if you'll be interested in going on a date instead? So what do you think about us going out this weekend or sometime this month, if that works for you?" Logan asked and Odette's face instantly went red.

She tried opening her mouth to say something but she couldn't because she couldn't make sense of what was happening right now.Full novel: Urban Elf System — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

It was the first time the two of them had ever talked this much and right now, her boss's son was asking her out on a date as a thank you for saving his life.

Odette was left speechless as a myriad of emotions stormed through her body because a part of her wanted to decline the offer, but another part didn't want to act rude to the young master.

In fact, a third silent part of her was also interested in experiencing what it would feel like to go out on a date with a man.

Meanwhile, Logan noticed how indecisive she was right now, so he decided to help her out before her cute little head exploded into a million pieces.

"Odette?"

"Hmm?"

"How about I give you time to think about it, and then you can decide the time and place you want us to go for our date, but if you want, I'll be happy to pick a date and venue for us, so what do you think?"

The thought of being alone with the young master instantly made her heart start racing like never before and before she knew it, the top of her pointed ears had slowly begun to turn pink.

"I-I'll think about it," she whispered softly but Logan heard it clearly, so he simply smiled and decided not to tease her about it.

For a lady who looked like she'd been trained in all forms of martial arts, Logan was genuinely surprised to see how she was reacting to the idea of going on her first date with a man.

Well, Logan could understand how she was feeling because it was equally his first time as well, but he was just trying to act cool in front of her so that she wouldn't know they were both in the same category of novices in aspects relating to love.

"Hmm, come to think of it, I've been worried about something for a while now," Logan muttered softly and Odette immediately noticed his expression had turned serious, so she became serious as well.

"What is it?" she asked but to her surprise, Logan asked her a question in return.

"Odette, do you trust me?"

Logan's question caught her off guard, but she replied honestly.

"...Yes, I do."

"Thank you, Odette. I trust you too and I would be extremely happy if the two of us could become friends one day, if you want that."

Once again, Odette was at a loss for words entirely, but she immediately pulled herself together before replying.

"I'd like that too."

Hearing this, Logan smiled and immediately pulled her into one more big hug before leaning close to whisper into her ear.

"If we're going to be friends, Odette, then I think we should actually act like one because as far as I know, friends don't lie to each other."

"...What do you mean?"

"Tell me the truth, Odette, where did my mother really go? If it was work-related, then she would have told me herself before leaving, but she didn't, so that means whatever she's doing right now, she didn't want me to know about it." Logan asked and Odette's eyes widened a bit.

She wondered when Logan became so perceptive, so she couldn't help but try to avoid making eye contact with him.

But Logan kept a stern face and she was left with no other choice but to reply honestly.

The two were clearly getting closer for the first time, so she didn't want to do anything to tarnish that bond.

Besides, a part of her didn't want to ruin the possibility of that date as well, so she decided to be honest with him.

"The boss said she was going to..."

Odette explained that Rowena had gone to cancel Christmas on the bouncers that hurt him last night and this time, it was Logan's turn to be genuinely stunned and speechless.

At first, he had tried to tease Odette because he thought she and his mother were trying to prepare some kind of surprise or party for him, especially since he had just escaped death last night.

But never could he have imagined that his mother would be bold enough to go toe to toe with the bouncers who had killed his predecessor.

"Where is she?"

"At a warehouse, not too far from West Midland Street."

"Alright, take me to her."

"B...but it's raining outside." Odette pointed out and Logan suddenly realised that the rain had truly begun.

"It doesn't matter. Let's get going." Logan muttered softly and Odette hesitated for a bit before nodding in response.

Time passed and a car could be seen driving within the city.

The wipers of the car kept ticking back and forth against the downpour but neither of them spoke whilst they were in the car.

Logan was a bit worried as he stared out the window.

He never could have imagined his mother was suppressing so much hatred within her despite all the smiles and cuddles she'd been pampering him with since last night.

It turns out his mother had been harbouring a thirst for vengeance on those who had hurt her child last night.

'But will she really be alright?' Logan wondered internally before noticing the car coming to a stop just right outside a large and dark warehouse.

Looking out, Logan couldn't see any lights in the warehouse, so he doubted if there were even people inside.

However, Odette killed the engine and the two of them stepped out into the storm.

His shoes instantly sank slightly into the wet gravel as he approached the main entrance, only to see the door was already slightly open.

But before he could pull the door open, a strong smell of blood instantly wafted into his nostrils and a feeling of dread immediately took hold of him.

However, he wasn't going to back down now, so he pushed the door open and his heart immediately began beating faster than ever before.

This was because right in front of him, countless bodies were scattered across the concrete floor with each of them having either their heads decapitated or their limbs cut off.

And standing in the middle of it all, was the silhouette of his stunning mother, clad in dark clothing as she glared at the man kneeling in front of her.

"Please, do not do this. My men should have known better than to mess with a boy associated with the richest household in the city. Please, have mercy on..."

The swift sound of a blade squelching through flesh echoed and vanished almost immediately, and the man's head rolled down right after.

"No one messes with my boy and gets away with it." Rowena muttered softly as she tightened her grip on her sword.

Meanwhile, Logan's mind went blank for a second as he scrambled to catch up with what he was looking at right now.

'What the hell is going on? Was my mother always some kind of S-rank assassin or martial artist? I thought she was just a rich, beautiful elf who enjoys spending her time pampering me!'

Logan muttered internally as he watched his mother flick the last of the blood off her blade like some kind of samurai in movies.

But this instantly allowed a terrifying thought to creep into his mind.

If his mother was truly this terrifying, then just what kind of family had he been reincarnated into...?

But whilst this thought occupied his mind, Rowena suddenly turned around and she froze the moment her eyes met with that of her son's.

"Logan...?"
