I was sitting on the bed, leaning against the head of the bed and staring at the music box which was closed.
My gaze was fixed on the box.
I do not want to take my eyes off; it is because I lost it a year ago.
I thought mom mistakenly had given it to charity but seeing this box here in this house startled me.
I drew a long breath.
I let down my hands on my sides.
In the meantime, Aunt Agatha stepped into the room with muffled steps.
I am still gazing at the box.
Aunt Agatha’s face broke into smile.
“Hey, I did not mean to scare you” she said while approaching the bed.
“And also, I think this house not that ancient” Aunt Agatha heavily chuckled.
I shifted my gaze from the box to Aunt Agatha’s face.
I rolled my eyes while clutching the pillow in my hand and placed it on my lap.
I rolled my eyes.
I deeply sighed.
I sucked my teeth.
“You think it is a joke” I said, resting my elbows on the pillow.
“If I told you that this box is mine and I lost it and somehow it turned up in the room which was burnt completely but the box it in one piece” My voice was not quite steady.
Aunt Agath knits her eyebrows together.
Her action clearly painted the question mark on Aunt Agatha’s forehead.
She bit the paper in her hand while sucking big breath.
She placed the paper on the bed.
“Umm…I do not understand” she said with firm tone.
I sat straight, ran my hands through my hair and started speaking with low voice.
“Hmm…mom gave it to me as a gift on my birthday” I giggled.
“I did not leave this box for one second.
I am trying to say I always kept it close to me because whenever I feel sad, I opened the box and started listening to the music” I touched the back of my head and started rubbing it.
Aunt Agatha’s eyes stretched with sudden jolt of surprise.
Aunt Agatha took a deep breath.
She started tapping her finger on the paper which was on the bed.
She crossed her legs in front of her.
She clicked her tongue.
“Jessica had given to you” she said.
Her voice was barely above a whisper.
I can sense fear in her voice.
I cannot blame reacting like that because I am scared too.
How can it be possible because I have not come to this town before.
And I do not have any friends here.
For a minute when I did not hear anything.
I lifted my head and glanced at Aunt Agatha’s face.
She was still like she was frozen.
I gently placed my hand on her arm and squeezed it.
Aunt Agath suddenly devoted her attention to me with a plastered smile on her face.
She sucked her teeth.
“You know I have a wild explanation” She delivered her words with firmness.
Afterwards, the room fell silent.
I narrowed my eyes and tried to solve the puzzle.
I can accept that, but it was not the random dox because I colored the dancing doll in box brown because I wanted to make it unique.
So, in the box the doll color was blue with red hair.
When I was lost in my thoughts, Aunt Agatha strong voice pulled back into reality.
“Tell me it is the exact box which you had because if it is” She placed her hand on my cheek.
“Then we should wrap thing quickly here then leave this cursed town” Her voice was filled with shakiness.
As I heard that my eyes widened with surprise.
I swallowed hard.
I gently pulled my hand back.
I blew my cheeks.
“Aunty, you are correct it is not the same box” I weakly chuckled.
“I am stupid because how can I forget that they manufacture a ton of boxes like that and lot of people around the city would have bought it for their children” I said while softly slapping to my forehead.
Aunt Agatha gazed at me with furrowed brows.
I know I flipped that quickly because I told her that it is the same box then I think she will not stay a minute in this house so I should keep my mouth shut.
I tilted my head.
Aunt Agatha stood up and started rocking in the room.
She pinched the bridge of her nose.
I raised my eyebrow because I thought if I said those words, it would calm her down but here, she is getting anxious, so I threw the pillow to ground below while rising to my feet.
I stepped forward, clutched Aunt Agath’s hand firmly.
A small smile lit up my face.
“What happened?” I asked.
My voice was firm.
Aunt Agatha looked up at me.
The corners of her mouth moved upwards into smile.
She breath through her mouth.
“You know I think this house is haunted” He words came out shuddered.
“You know the kid who pulled me from fire, his eyes were glowing”
When she was telling me, I saw fear in her eyes.
The genuine smile appeared on my face.
“What” I said.
My voice dropped to an audible level.
I pulled Aunt Agatha into hug.
She inclined her head in disagreement.
“Yes, this house a demon and I it possessed the kid”
Her voice was subdued.
I pulled myself back while glaring into Aunt Agatha’s eyes which were widened like ballooned.
“Well, tell me what that is?” I asked with soft voice.
I then took the paper from Aunt Agatha’ hand.
She placed her hands on her waist.
She bit her lips.
“It is party invitation I got from notary office” There was an edge of firmness in her voice.
“And I am planning and want you to take the girl with you who came earlier”
I clasped my hands behind my back.
I did not respond to Aunt Agatha.
A quick nod escaped Aunt Agatha.
I covered my eyes with both of my hands.
Aunt Agatha stepped forward.
She clutched my hands and gently removed from my eyes.
“What did you do?” She asked, gritting her teeth.
I shrugged my shoulder while rubbing back of my head.
I took a deep breath.
“Not much” I added with chuckled.
“I mean she probably do not want to see me because after you left, I did not talk to her because she already interduce herself and tell us every about herself with asking”
I bit my tongue.
Aunt Agatha gave her head a nod.
“You should have talk to her” Aunt Agatha pressed my cheeks.
“Because I thought she seemed to be nice girl.
And I am disappointed by your behavior towards her” Aunt Agatha dropped her hands on her sides.
“You should thank her”
I suddenly started talking defensively.
“Come on, you do not think she is weird” I sounded urgent.
Aunt Agatha looked at me in astonishment.
She gently patted on my head.
“Control your tongue” she said while jokingly pilling my hair.
“I think she is pretty and nice person”
Meanwhile, we heard male voice.
“Callie, Callie” His voice was firm.
I went out of the room along with Aunt Agatha.
We proceeded downstairs and when we reached the ground floor, we saw Damon was standing there.
Aunt Agatha shoved her hands into her pants pocket.
Before her aunt asked anything, I abruptly started talking.
“His name is Damon” I said.
There was an edge of firmness in my voice.
Damon rubbed his hands together.
A small smile lit up his face.
“Nice to me you” He extended his hand to shake Aunt Agatha hand firmly which was showing he was confident.
“I have come to ask you that you are okay after I heard the unfortunate incident happened last night” Aunt Agatha crossed her arms over her chest.
She chuckled weakly.
“We are fine” She spoke with quiet, resonant tone.
“And I think you both talk and I have to check the room which was burnt in the last night fire” Aunt Agatha then walked off the lobby.
I stood there with bowed head.
“I want to apologize again.
I have no right to judge you” He spoke with conviction.
I rolled my eyes in anger.
I looked at the window which blind was open and where I noticed through the glass that Max was coming out of Kristina’ s house.
I was wandering that what Max was doing at Kristina’s house.
I thought Aunt Agatha was correct I should talk to her.
When I was sank in my thoughts, a scream pulled me back into reality.
I snapped and shifted my gaze from the window to burnt room.
I then dashed towards the room and spotted the opening from the floor.
It gave me shiver to my core.
