“Yu Wangge, twenty years old this year, birthday on July 2nd, likes tails.”
Just as Yu Wangge was about to make a move, another childish voice rang out.
Huh?
Yu Wangge looked at the little orange-brown-haired kid beside her and was instantly reminded of that scheming Shi Baiheng.
He looked so serious, as if he were telling the truth. Though that last part—likes tails—felt about right to her.
“But why would you all appear here?”
This place was desolate and uninhabited—not a ghost of a soul in sight. How could there be five little kids?
Shi Baiheng tried casting an Illusion Art on Yu Wangge again, but it failed once more. His small hands clenched beneath his sleeves. Did this woman carry something that made her immune to his Mental Power?
Shi Baiheng lowered his eyes. Then he had to find that thing. If it fell into enemy hands, it would be nothing but trouble for him.
“I don’t know. We were at home, and then a vortex suddenly appeared and sucked us in.
Look—Xiao Si’s eyes were hurt by that thing.”
Shi Baiheng pulled over Bai Yuchuan and pointed at his eyes.
Yu Wangge frowned again, looking at the five in front of her—one with black hair, one with yellow, one with gold, one with white, one with red. Why did they look more and more like those five deadly troublemakers?
They looked way too much alike.
“We’re the ones you adopted. You said you loved us the most, and it took you forever to find us all,” Shi Baiheng added, seeing that Yu Wangge still looked unconvinced.
Yu Wangge sucked in a sharp breath.
Good heavens—what kind of pervert was the original owner? If she couldn’t have the one she loved, she found replacements? Five children, no less…
Truly perverted.
Yu Wangge swallowed. Now she had no choice but to believe it. After all, given the crazy things the original owner had done before, she really might have done something like this.
“Uh, fine. But I have one condition—you all have to do as I say.” Yu Wangge put her hands on her hips and looked down at the five little kids.
Perfect. She could experience what it was like to be a big sister with little brothers at her beck and call.
A wicked smile curled at the corner of Yu Wangge’s mouth as she looked at her five little servants, growing more satisfied by the minute. Once they reached the savage wilds, she wouldn’t have to worry about being all alone and unable to take care of herself.
The five exchanged glances, communicating with Mental Power right in front of Yu Wangge.
Huo Chiye: [Looks like this woman is completely convinced.]
Jiang Xuanyu, internally collapsing: [Ahhh! That stupid woman’s expression just now was so punchable!]
Chu Yanyi: [Once we recover, we’ll just deal with her in the Great Wilds.]
Bai Yuchuan: [Stop dragging me around. It’s annoying!]
Yu Wangge’s mind was a mess right now, so she didn’t pay much attention to the group’s silent exchange.
She only regretted not reading more carefully back then, leaving her completely in the dark now.
After nightfall, the group found a place to rest.
Yu Wangge pulled out a water flask from behind her and took a sip. The sweet spring water flowed into her stomach, instantly refreshing her whole body and dispelling most of the day’s accumulated heat.
Shi Baiheng narrowed his eyes in confusion at the flask Yu Wangge had produced out of thin air. Where did this woman pull that from?
“Xiao Huang, want some?” Seeing the little yellow-haired boy staring at the flask in her hand, Yu Wangge offered it to him.
Shi Baiheng’s face darkened. “Don’t call me Xiao Huang.”
Yu Wangge shrugged indifferently. “Oh? Then what should I call you?”
“I—” Shi Baiheng was so exasperated by her that he nearly blurted out his real name. “My name is Wang Xing.”
“Pfft! What an ugly name.”
Shi Baiheng’s small face flushed red with anger as he glared at Yu Wangge. What on earth was this woman saying!
“And you four?”
“Wang Yan.”
“Yu Chuan.”
“Jiang Yu.”
“Chi Ye.”
Shi Baiheng rolled his eyes speechlessly.
Yu Wangge nodded thoughtfully. “The five of you—the other four names all sound pretty good. Why is it that yours is Wang Xing? Are you really that ‘capable’?”
Shi Baiheng caught sight of the few people beside him with the corners of their mouths twitching upward, and he smiled. “Because you think I’m very capable, big sister.”
Yu Wangge’s mouth twitched. What had the original sect master been teaching these kids? Was that something a child should be able to say?
Chu Yanyi and the others looked at her with disdain. Vixen.
Shi Baiheng said nothing more. He took the water flask Yu Wangge handed over and drank a couple of mouthfuls. The moment the spring water went down his throat, a flash of surprise crossed his eyes before he carefully concealed it.
He passed the flask to Chu Yanyi beside him.
Chu Yanyi’s cold, stiff little face was full of disgust. “I’m not thirsty.” He certainly wasn’t going to drink from the same flask as a woman.
Shi Baiheng frowned and passed it to the two others.
Huo Chiye turned his head away in refusal.
Jiang Xuanyu gave a light snort. He wasn’t drinking it—what if there was poison inside?
Watching this scene, Yu Wangge immediately stood up. “Hey, you’re young but your pickiness sure isn’t! Drink or don’t, see if I care!”
She snatched the flask right out of Shi Baiheng’s hands. Honestly, they were spoiled rotten.
Yu Wangge pulled the little blind boy beside her over, then suddenly remembered Bai Yuchuan’s blinded eyes and sighed.
So young. What a pity he was blind.
Bai Yuchuan’s whole body was tense as Yu Wangge pulled him along. Was she going to pluck his fish scales again?
Then a pair of warm hands gently touched the top of his head, stroking his hair.
Bai Yuchuan froze, unable to react at all.
“Here, drink some water.” Yu Wangge brought the flask to Bai Yuchuan’s lips. This was Spirit Spring water—it should help his eyes, right?
Bai Yuchuan didn’t know what came over him, but he opened his mouth. Perhaps it was just psychological, but the moment he swallowed, the burning sensation around his eye sockets seemed to ease considerably.
Chu Yanyi crossed his arms and closed his eyes.
“Tch, spineless!” Jiang Xuanyu muttered quietly, leaning back and refusing to watch.
Only that idiot Bai Yuchuan could be fooled by her.
“Xiao Chuan, such a good boy. Want me to change your bandages?” Her Spatial Dimension seemed to still have some medicine in it.
Sensing the hand reaching toward him, Bai Yuchuan abruptly stepped back, his voice turning colder. “No need.”
What had he just been doing?
He’d actually been so easily beguiled by this woman.
To Yu Wangge, Bai Yuchuan’s current state just looked like fright.
“Did I scare you? Sorry, I just—”
“I’m sleepy!” With that, Bai Yuchuan turned around and stopped paying her any attention.
Yu Wangge looked at how they all brushed her off—not at all like big sister and little brothers.
Whatever. Let them be!
She wasn’t one to press a warm face against a cold butt.
Yu Wangge lay down on the sand and closed her eyes. Maybe things would be better once they reached the savage wilds—as long as they had somewhere to shelter.
As she thought this, she drifted into a deep sleep, completely unaware of a tall figure standing beside her, staring down at her darkly.
“No—there’s a Demonic Beast!”
“An A-rank Demonic Beast! We’re done for—we’re going to die here today!”
A burst of noisy sounds rang in her ears, and the moment Yu Wangge opened her eyes, she was met with a gaping maw reeking of foul stench.
Seeing her move, the thing grew even more excited and lunged to bite her!
“Ahhh!”
Not far away, five people stood together, coldly watching the scene.
