Simon could not understand why he had rushed towards her.

Cradling her in his arms felt as if she was exactly where she was supposed to be.

After all, their captain valued his personal space so much that he would not even allow women to stand close to him, let alone hold one in his arms.

But the scene they were currently witnessing had changed their worldview.

Guide Hazel might be an exception.

Simon walked ahead of them.

Suddenly, he stopped and, without turning back, said, “I hope everyone knows what to say and what not to say concerning what happened in this Contamination Zone.”

The team members nodded immediately.

Meanwhile, the outside world was in commotion.

A Contamination Zone had dissipated.

The mist was completely gone.

The civilians who had been hiding in the Contamination Zone all came out from their hiding places, their faces filled with confusion.

They had all witnessed the blinding light that had enveloped the entire Contamination Zone.

But what they saw afterward left them speechless.

The mutated species that had been walking around were no longer there.

The surrounding buildings began to crumble, slowly breaking apart and turning into dust.

The blue sky above them began to crack.

Cracks spread across it like shattered glass, gradually revealing a familiar pink sky beyond it—the sky of the real world.

Then, they realized something.

Their hearts began beating with excitement, and their eyes stung with tears.

The Contamination Zone had dissipated.

A Contamination Zone could dissipate!

The Contamination Zones that had been a bane to the Empire, the same Contamination Zones that had swallowed countless lives and taken away their loved ones, could dissipate too.

There was hope for humanity!

There was hope for humanity!

Suddenly, no one knew who started it, but they all began to run while shouting, “There is hope for humanity!

The Contamination Zone has dissipated!”

Their words eventually reached the ears of Simon and his team members as they walked out of the Contamination Zone.

Their eyes all looked at the Contamination Zone behind them, an indescribable emotion echoing in everyone’s hearts.

So, the Contamination Zone could dissipate?

Did this area now belong to humanity?

Infinite waves of shock surged within them, and then their gazes all fell upon Hazel, who was currently lying in Simon’s arms. This chapter was copied from g.com without permission.

They had entered and exited Contamination Zones for so many years, cleaned Contamination Zones, and nearly been swallowed by Contamination Zones.

But they had never witnessed a Contamination Zone dissipate.

The source of all this seemed to be related to Guide Hazel, that blinding light…

Even if they hadn’t seen it before, they knew how astonishingly talented such a Guide was!

Such a talent should be tightly protected by the Empire in the Blue Tower.

How could she appear in their eastern region?

Hazel woke up to a white ceiling.

The memories of what had happened rushed back to her.

The softness of the bed was definitely not that of the Guide Building’s room.

She sat up, and just as she had suspected, she was not in her room.

The room was more spacious, and its furniture screamed low-key luxury.

She looked outside the window and noticed that the sky was already dark.

It seemed to be nighttime.

The door to the room opened, revealing a green-haired man with green eyes—the Marshal.

Hazel guessed that this must be a room in his residence.

“You are awake.”

Hazel nodded as he handed her a cup of water.

Afterward, he sat down and stared at her.

His gaze was so direct that he made no attempt to hide it.

Feeling a little awkward, Hazel sipped the warm water from the cup before looking into his eyes.

Simon still could not fathom how a Contamination Zone could disappear, especially one that had vanished because of a Guide who was supposedly an F-class Guide.

Then he began, “After that blinding light, the Contamination Zone dissipated.

Since then, you’ve been asleep for two days.”

‘Two days?

No wonder my back feels sore,’ Hazel thought after hearing this.

“The Imperial City asked for an explanation, but I did not mention your name.

You should decide if you want them to know.” Saying this, Simon rubbed his tired brows.

The news that a Contamination Zone could disappear spread like wildfire.

It quickly reached every corner of the entire Empire.

That night, Simon had spent several hours writing a report, embellishing both the truth and a little bit of a lie, stating that he was yet to determine how the Contamination Zone had dissipated.

Still, the Imperial City said they would send people over to inspect the area where the Contamination Zone had previously been.

Thinking about those haughty Sentinels who had never been to battle coming over, Simon felt a headache already.

Hazel felt grateful after hearing that he had told no one that she had caused it.

“Thank you, Marshal.”

“Simon.

Just call me Simon.”

‘Simon.

The name fits him.’ Hazel thought as she glanced at him, but her thoughts were quickly interrupted by a loud growl from her stomach.

Knowing how sensitive Sentinels were to sound, and with the room being so silent, Hazel’s face and ears turned beet red.

“If you don’t mind, you can join me for dinner,” Simon said with a smile in his eyes.

Her stomach growled even louder after hearing this, so she nodded without looking into his eyes.

His spirit body, which had been active since seeing her awake, pressed, “I want to go out!

I want to go out!

I want to go out!”

“Can’t you see she just woke up and she’s hungry?

How do you expect her to have the strength to carry a little fatty without eating?” Simon replied calmly as he led Hazel to the dinner table.

“Little fatty?” His spirit body hissed angrily.

“How dare you call this majestic one a fatty?

I won’t talk to you again!” Then it turned its head away.

“How childish,” Simon scoffed at the snake’s antics.

Hazel had thought eating at the same table with Simon would be awkward, but immediately after the food was placed in front of her and she took a bite, all her thoughts disappeared.

She did not look away from the food until she was done.

When she finally looked up from her plate, she realized that Simon was looking at her.

She blushed before complimenting the food.

“The food is delicious.”

After dinner, Simon escorted her back to the Guide Building.

They walked in silence.

Hazel lowered her gaze, her mind replaying everything that had happened.

What exactly was her spirit body?

And that symbol on those people’s uniforms in Alan’s memory…

why did it look so familiar?
