BAM.
The zombie collapsed as Caleb Grant and his team drove past.
Immediately after, Sean Kane drove his vehicle right over the zombie, crushing it again.
Up ahead, Caleb stopped his car.
Ginny Jarvis jumped out of hers and walked back.
Just as she reached the space between Sean’s car and the one in front, she saw the zombie they had just knocked down.
It let out continuous, guttural roars as it trembled and crawled toward her.
Its severed right arm dangled by a thread, and thick green slime oozed endlessly from its broken right leg.
Its abdominal organs had been completely crushed, leaving its lower half attached by nothing more than a thin layer of skin.
Seeing this gruesome sight, the others immediately felt their stomachs churn.
Sean ran to the side and threw up, while Caleb, Oscar Lynch, and the other man barely managed to hold it in.
Ginny was the only one whose expression remained unchanged.
Wielding a dagger, she plunged the blade straight into the center of the zombie’s head.
After twitching twice, the zombie went completely still.
Ginny pushed the dagger down forcefully with one hand while prying open the zombie’s skull with the other, revealing the brain matter inside.
After digging around, she calmly pulled out a lump encased in green slime.
“I wonder if I just discovered these late in my past life, or if their appearance has been pushed up as well.”
Watching Ginny’s brutal efficiency, the men swallowed hard, their faces unnaturally stiff.
Caleb coughed before asking, “What is that thing used for?”
“It enhances Abilities.
Once an Ability awakens, you can use it by absorbing the Energy inside,” Ginny replied.
With that, she wiped the Corpse Crystal clean of zombie brain fluid with a tissue and slipped it into her pocket.
“Let’s go.
We need to hurry and drop these things off at the warehouse, then head back.
We still have a zombie waiting for us at home.”
When Caleb saw the warehouse packed with modified RVs, heavy-duty trucks, and off-road vehicles, he was stunned.
He wondered if they had really prepared this thoroughly.
After driving the vehicle loaded with firearms and ammunition inside, Sean drove a heavy-duty truck right back out.
Anxious about the situation at home, they didn’t bother stopping to collect more Corpse Crystals from zombie heads along the way, deciding to leave that for tomorrow.
During the drive, Ginny occasionally recorded videos, primarily to show the people back at the villa.
Driving the heavy-duty truck, they simply crushed any zombies they encountered.
Fortunately, the villa was in the suburbs, and since almost their entire route was on the highway, there were very few of the undead.
When they finally arrived home, Ginny used the remote to open the villa gates.
Inside, the group heard the gates opening and hurried out.
Just as the cab crossed the threshold, Ginny leaped down, clad in a military uniform and wielding a gun.
The expressions of the people in the courtyard instantly shifted from eagerness to terror.
Following her, another man in a military uniform also jumped down, holding a firearm.
The group hurriedly backed away toward the house before remembering that this was Ginny’s territory.
Despair washed over their faces as they wondered what Ginny was going to do to them.
After the two jumped out, Sean drove the truck the rest of the way into the villa grounds.
Immediately, Ginny and Caleb began firing relentlessly at something behind the truck.
“Close the gates!” Caleb shouted at Ginny.
Ginny hastily closed the villa’s main gates.
It wasn’t until the truck had parked in the underground garage that the crowd noticed several corpses lying on the ground behind it, oozing a disgusting green liquid.
From their attire, it wasn’t hard to guess that these were the villa’s security guards, along with a man dressed in a suit.
Ginny secured the gates and turned around to see the group standing outside, their faces filled with panic.
She didn’t offer any explanations for the bodies; instead, she simply introduced the two groups to each other.
“These are participants from a previous Kane Group event.
And everyone, this is an officer from the military district we met on the road.”
Because she still didn’t know the true character of these event participants, Ginny had no intention of letting them know too much just yet.
But upon hearing her explanation, the fear on the participants’ faces finally began to fade.
After entering the house, Ginny noticed Cecilia Sinclair looking at her hesitantly, as if she wanted to say something but couldn’t.
“Watch something first; we’ll talk later,” Ginny said.
She connected her phone to the TV and played the recordings from their drive.
“Sean, take Officer Grant upstairs to wash up and change his clothes first.”
“Alright.
Stay safe.
Your safety is the most important thing,” Sean said, reaching out to pat Ginny on the head.
His heart ached for her.
He didn’t know how much his sister had suffered in her past life to become someone who could kill zombies without blinking an eye.
He couldn’t imagine the heavy price she had paid to grow this much.
His desire to become stronger had never been more urgent than in this very moment.
Ginny smiled at her brother and nodded to show she understood.
She wasn’t some bleeding-heart saint; naturally, her own safety came first.
Besides, to survive in her past life, it wasn’t as if she hadn’t killed before.
Once Sean led Caleb and the others upstairs, Ginny sat on the sofa and waited for the group to finish watching the videos.
Watching Ginny’s high-definition footage, every single person turned pale.
Mason Ryder outright grabbed a trash can and began throwing up.
Normal people who had mutated into zombies weren’t too terrifying to look at.
The truly horrifying ones were those who had jumped from buildings or died in car crashes.
They were covered in the red of The Blood Night and the green slime that oozed out after their mutation, making for a truly chilling sight.
“Cecilia, your father…” Ginny began.
“If you can’t bring yourself to do it, we can do it for you.
Or we can just keep him locked up.
However, without eating for a long period, he will only grow weaker and weaker until he passes away.”
After laying out the options, Ginny offered no further opinions.
Instead, she went upstairs and double-locked David Sinclair’s door from the outside with a key.
After all, the doors she had purchased were of very high quality.
She then went back downstairs to wait for Cecilia’s decision.
At this moment, all traces of Cecilia’s previous joy and happiness were gone.
She stared blankly at the tips of her shoes, lost in her own thoughts.
When Ginny finally came downstairs, Cecilia asked, “Can my dad turn back into a human?”
“No.
At least, definitely not until an antidote is developed.
And no one knows how long that will take.”
A desolate smile tugged at the corners of Cecilia’s mouth.
“Why do bad things always happen to my dad?
He was clearly such a good person…
Sigh.
I want to see him.”
Having made her request, Cecilia looked at Ginny with hopeful expectation.
Looking at the young woman, Ginny recalled her own feelings when she learned of her parents’ plane crash.
“Kill him, or keep him locked up and wait for the antidote.”
“Kill…
Kill him,” Cecilia said.
She covered her mouth, sobbing uncontrollably.
Ginny waited until Cecilia had finished crying before going up to open the door.
The moment the lock clicked, Ginny hastily vaulted over the second-floor railing and leaped down to the first floor.
“Get out!
Everyone, into the courtyard!” Ginny yelled.
Hearing this, Clark Chandler immediately stepped forward, helped Cecilia up, and led her out into the yard.
David’s continuous roaring echoed in their ears, sending chills down everyone’s spines.
Just as they reached the entryway, they saw that David had already crawled from his room to the top of the stairs.
Now, a fleshy, tumor-like growth bulged from his head.
His entire face had turned an ashen grayish-green, with thick veins pulsing underneath.
His eyes were completely white, and he continually bared his teeth, letting out guttural roars.
