After returning to her room, Ginny Jarvis thought of Lyra Kane’s condition.

She quickly found some fever-reducing medicine and went to knock on the door of the adjacent room.

I came to check on Lyra.”

Ginny kept her voice low, afraid of waking Lyra, who had just fallen asleep.

Fortunately, Caroline Corbin was still awake.

She was gently patting Lyra’s back to help her sleep more peacefully.

Hearing the knock, she stood up and opened the door.

“Jarvis, why aren’t you resting yet?

If you keep pushing yourself, it’ll be dawn soon.

Sigh, we really owe you today, child.”

“Let’s not talk about that.

Here, this is some fever medicine.

I’m worried Lyra might spike a fever from the shock later, so please keep a close eye on her.”

“I will.

Good child, hurry and get some sleep.”

Ginny nodded without another word and turned back to her room.

Truthfully, she had been very hesitant about saving the two of them today.

She didn’t know what role Caroline played in that incident, but remembering Lyra’s words from her previous life, she decided to trust them just this once.

By the time Ginny finished freshening up and finally went to bed, it was already past six in the morning.

The sky outside was no longer its previous blood-red; it was slowly brightening.

When she woke up, Ginny felt her body surging with power.

She checked the time and saw it was past four in the afternoon.

She then tried to focus her mind, sensing the changes in her body.

Suddenly, her vision spun, and she found herself standing on a lush green meadow.

The vast expanse of grass stretched as far as the eye could see.

Ginny instantly realized that she had awakened a Space Ability, and she was thrilled.

Just as she was about to leave, she heard the SPLASH of flowing water.

“No way.

Am I really this lucky?

Spiritual Spring Water?” she thought.

With that in mind, Ginny sprinted toward the sound of the water.

She found a small puddle about one square meter in size.

Hovering in the air above it was a stone trough, from which water continuously poured into the puddle below.

Ginny stared at it in absolute wonder.

“Could this…

could this be an endless supply?” she wondered.

Eager to test her theory, Ginny hurriedly exited the space.

She ended up finding herself in an unfamiliar empty room.

“Do I have two spaces?” Ginny muttered as she opened the door.

Seeing the view outside, she immediately jumped for joy.

“Haha, I must be a lucky charm!

However far I walk inside the space, I actually cover the same distance in the real world.

Sneak attacks are going to be way too satisfying!”

After celebrating, Ginny vaulted out the window of the villa and headed home.

As for why she vaulted out the window, it was simply because she couldn’t open a stranger’s locked door from the inside.

Once outside, she realized this was the villa located directly behind her own home.

Unarmed, Ginny had no choice but to hurry away.

She walked right down the main road.

If she ran into any zombies, she’d just perform a disappearing act for them.

Upon reaching her front door, Ginny entered her space, took five steps forward, and then exited—appearing perfectly inside her own courtyard.

Fortunately, everyone was still resting in their rooms.

As soon as Ginny walked in, she saw that the living room was empty except for Caroline, who was sitting at the dining table with nothing but a single slice of bread in front of her.

“Jarvis, are you hungry?

Should I make you something to eat?” Caroline asked.

“No need, Aunt Caroline.

I have something to say,” Ginny replied, taking a seat across from her.

Seeing the utter seriousness on Ginny’s face, Caroline’s heart skipped a beat, but she forced a smile.

“Go ahead.”

“Did you know about their plot to murder my parents, or were you involved in it?”

The moment Ginny finished speaking, the bread slipped from Caroline’s hand and dropped onto the table.

Panic flooded her face as she looked up urgently.

“Jarvis, I only just found out about it too.

Really, I swear!

“Last month, Xander got drunk and blurted it out himself.

He was mumbling about how your parents shouldn’t blame him, and that he and your aunt were forced into it.

I didn’t catch the rest clearly, but I figured your dad must have discovered that he and your aunt’s husband had secretly opened a company behind his back, which drove them to this scheme.”

Caroline paused, looking at Ginny with profound guilt.

She didn’t expect Ginny to forgive her.

After all, once she found out, she had chosen to protect her own family rather than tell Ginny immediately.

“Jarvis, I don’t expect your forgiveness, and I’ll leave shortly,” Caroline said.

“As for Lyra, she truly knows nothing.

If you don’t want to face her, I can take her with me.

Ultimately, this was your aunt’s husband’s wrongdoing.

“Also, I remember your aunt’s husband saying that if it weren’t for the help of someone your father trusted, it wouldn’t have been easy to pull off.

He said something about your dad being blind to the truth, and things like that.”

Listening to Caroline, Ginny was genuinely stunned.

She had no idea who her father’s trusted confidant might be; she and her brother had never meddled in their father’s corporate affairs.

“I really am a terrible daughter.

I know almost nothing about my dad’s life,” she thought with a bitter chuckle.

Ginny’s heart was now brimming with guilt toward her parents.

Although she wasn’t a decadent playgirl like other second-generation heirs, she had never brought much honor to her parents growing up, and she rarely showed them enough care.

After graduating, she had moved straight into the house her father bought for her and lived on her own.

Thinking about it, she really was quite unfilial.

It was a pity she had only been reborn to one month before the apocalypse.

If only…

“Mom, Dad, my brother and I will live well.

Don’t worry about us,” she silently promised.

Suppressing her inner grief, Ginny looked at Caroline and hardened her heart.

“Aunt Caroline, you can stay here for now.

We will be leaving later, but we won’t be taking you with us.”

In the apocalypse, only martial strength mattered.

In this life, she, Ginny Jarvis, was done playing the saint.

“I…

I will protect you, your brother, and Lyra,” Caroline replied.

Ginny didn’t reply and simply turned to head upstairs.

It wasn’t that she was cold-blooded.

Given what Xander Kane had done, it wouldn’t have been entirely unjustified to kill the mother and daughter right then and there.

But in the end, she still wanted to give them one chance to live.

Her mind was now consumed by why she hadn’t experienced any physical reactions when awakening her Ability this time around.

She remembered that in her past life, she had suffered a high fever for three days straight.

She had been hiding at home alone, and if it weren’t for the leftover fever medicine, she probably would have been burned into an idiot.

She now needed to check if the others had awakened.

The speed of awakening was directly proportional to a person’s innate talent; the earlier they awakened, the greater their potential.

She figured that those top-tier powerhouses from her past life must have awakened quite early.

As soon as she reached the second-floor landing, she saw Caleb Grant coming down, rubbing his temples.

“How is it, Caleb?

Did you awaken?”

“Yeah, awakened two at once: Gold Ability and Thunder Ability.

Though I completely trashed my room in the process.” After speaking, he ran a hand over his buzz cut.

“That’s normal.

It’s always like that when you first awaken.

You just need to practice diligently.

By the way, what about your friend?”

“Don’t worry.

I told him I had a bad premonition and warned him not to try to be a hero if anything happened.

He’s supposed to wait at his house for me to rescue him.”

“Alright, I just don’t know if any of the soldiers in his vehicle mutated last night.”

Caleb shook his head.

“The only ones in his car were him and Wayne Dawson, the guy you mentioned.

It shouldn’t be a big problem.”

“Okay, then I’ll go check on the others.

You go wake my brother up.

Oh, and Lyra Kane, too.”

With that, Ginny headed down the second-floor hallway, while Caleb nodded and headed back up to the third.

Ginny knocked on the doors one by one but got no response.

Only Mason Ryder came out, and it was obvious he hadn’t awakened any Ability yet.

“Go downstairs and grab something to eat,” she told him.

“I’ll go wake the others.

You can ignore Clark Chandler and Mr.

Thorne for now.”
