“No, you…
you can’t kill me!
My dad is Alistair Serrano!
However much money you want, once I find my dad, he’ll give it to you!
No…
stay away…”
The girl stared at Ginny Jarvis with eyes full of terror, backing away continuously.
Having just witnessed the Abilities of Ginny and her group, the onlookers didn’t dare step forward to help.
They scattered to the sides.
Watching Ginny approach step by step, the girl frantically launched another Spiritual Attack.
Ginny withstood it forcefully, a smile playing on her lips as she continued toward her.
Seeing that her attack had absolutely no effect on Ginny, the girl collapsed to the ground in despair.
“Don’t, don’t kill me!
I can help you, I…”
Before she could finish, Ginny finished her off with a single strike of her blade.
The others watched Ginny’s murderous aura in sheer panic.
They had very few Ability Users to begin with, and now two were dead.
Their fear of Ginny’s group had instantly skyrocketed to the absolute maximum.
Having successfully made an example out of them, Ginny had no intention of tangling with them any further.
“Get lost, all of you.”
Hearing her words, the crowd scattered and fled in all directions.
Many ran so fast that they lost their shoes, not even daring to turn back and pick them up.
Cecilia Sinclair was so amused that she crouched on the ground and laughed out loud.
“Let’s go.
Once you’re rested, hurry up and dig out the remaining Corpse Crystals.
Onto the next stop.”
“You got it, Miss Kane!
So badass, haha!” Cecilia gave Ginny a thumbs-up.
Ginny shot her an amused glance.
In her heart, she couldn’t help but marvel at Cecilia’s resilience, which only made her feel even more sympathy for the girl.
She turned and walked into the bar, planning to check out its wine cellar.
She hadn’t stockpiled much alcohol in her space, intending to scavenge it after the apocalypse arrived.
Was there anything more satisfying than getting things for free?
Absolutely not, haha.
Muttering to herself, Ginny took the lead and headed deeper into the bar.
With a wave of her hand, she swept all the intact bottles behind the counter into her space, then began searching for the cellar.
It was a high-end bar, after all.
Looking at the neatly arranged wine racks in front of her, Ginny’s eyes instantly sparkled with stars.
If there was one thing Ginny loved most in her previous life, it was alcohol.
Back then, just a single glass of wine would cost dozens of Level 4 Corpse Crystals, let alone the lower-level ones required.
This bar had quite a few fine wines, and Ginny waved her hand to take them all. The source of this chapter is g.com.
She thought, “Haha, looks like I can visit a few more bars in the future.
Not bad, not bad at all.
Oh my, there must be over a hundred bottles of good liquor here!
It’s just a shame all the beer outside was ruined by the zombies.”
By the time Ginny came out, the group had mostly finished collecting the Corpse Crystals and was tossing the bodies from outside into the bar.
Once everything was thrown inside, Cecilia fired off a few Fireballs.
In an instant, the bar was engulfed in a raging inferno.
“Let’s go.
Time to head home.”
Saying that, Ginny was the first to get into the car.
Originally, she had planned to scavenge for supplies and clear out zombies along the way.
However, since everyone’s Skills were depleted, they might as well head back first and make plans later.
When they arrived home, Caroline Corbin had already prepared lunch.
Worried that they might not find supplies right away, Caroline had been rather frugal.
She stir-fried several plates of slightly stale greens, while meat dishes were sparse.
There was only Ginny’s favorite spicy diced chicken, some minced pork tofu, and shredded pork with green peppers.
Everyone understood the current situation and happily accepted the table full of vegetarian dishes.
Ginny handed Caroline a can of milk powder she had taken out of her space while in the car.
“Here are the little guy’s rations for the next few days.
We’ll go look for more this afternoon.”
“Alright.
I fed him rice soup this morning.
The little guy isn’t a picky eater at all.
He’s incredibly well-behaved.
He smiles at anyone he sees and just whimpers a couple of times when he’s hungry or needs a diaper change.”
“As long as he’s easy to take care of.
Let’s go, Aunt Caroline, time to eat.”
Everyone was already seated at the dining table, waiting for Ginny to arrive so they could start eating.
Only Lyra Kane looked unhappy.
Her eyes were filled with jealousy as she stared at Ginny.
However, since no one was paying attention to her, no one noticed Lyra’s glare.
It wasn’t until Ginny and Caroline sat down that everyone picked up their chopsticks.
“Mom, I want to eat lobster.
Didn’t we agree to have steamed lobster?
Ginny, do you want some?
Steam one for me, please.”
After Lyra spoke, everyone’s expressions soured.
Ginny said bluntly, “I’m keeping them to breed.
No one is allowed to touch them.”
“Oh my, living in someone else’s house, eating someone else’s food, and still being so picky.
You really don’t consider yourself an outsider, do you?”
After Cecilia’s sarcastic remark, both Lyra and Caroline looked displeased.
Although Caroline felt her daughter was in the wrong, she couldn’t just let an outsider like Cecilia mock them freely.
“We are Jarvis’s relatives.
What right do you have to gossip and judge here?”
The bowl and chopsticks in her hands suddenly felt burning hot.
Her mouth opened and closed, but she couldn’t find a single word to retort.
“Cecilia is my, Sean Kane’s, sister.
From now on, both she and Jarvis are my actual younger sisters.
Aunt Caroline, please don’t say things like that anymore.”
Ginny looked at her brother in astonishment.
She thought, “Oh ho, what’s this…
He’s actually bailing a girl out?
Is a miracle happening?
The twenty-seven-year-old lifelong bachelor is actually making a move?
No way, no way!”
Sean’s face flushed under Ginny’s burning gaze.
“COUGH COUGH…
To some extent, we are all orphans.
Jarvis, would you like to have a little sister?”
“I’m perfectly fine with it.
What do you say, Cecilia?”
Tears welled up and swirled in Cecilia’s eyes.
After a long while, she finally said, “I don’t want to.
I’m older than you, just not as tall.
I should be the older sister.”
“PFFT, haha…
You’re killing me!
Cecilia, you, an older sister?
Hahaha…” Timmy’s unbridled laughter instantly lightened the mood.
Listening to everyone’s lively chatter, Mason Ryder simply ate his food in silence, without saying a word.
Clark Chandler rubbed his buzz cut and said dejectedly, “We’re all the same.
I don’t even know what my parents looked like.”
“Oh well, having them or not makes no difference to me.
They never cared about me anyway.
Haha, and I turned out just fine!
Come on, let’s toast to surviving safely in this apocalypse.” After saying that, Timmy raised his rice bowl.
“Come on, substituting rice for wine, cheers!”
“Cheers!”
“Cheers!”
“Cheers!
Now hurry up and finish eating so we can absorb the remaining Corpse Crystals.
We continue this afternoon,” Ginny added, instantly drawing a chorus of groans.
The group resumed eating.
Seeing that no one was touching the two plates of stir-fried greens, Caroline asked, “Eat some greens.
Why isn’t anyone eating the vegetables?” She even served some to a few of them as she spoke.
Staring at the shiny green vegetables in their bowls, everyone except Ginny and Caleb Grant uncontrollably gagged.
Not wanting to ruin the meal, they all bolted into the courtyard.
Hearing the continuous sounds of vomiting, Ginny’s mouth twitched.
She supposed it was her own fault; she should have warned Caroline beforehand to avoid cooking green dishes today.
Seeing as they hadn’t reacted much while killing zombies, she thought they had been desensitized after seeing David Sinclair’s state the night before last.
She didn’t expect that they had merely been toughing it out.
