Caroline Corbin watched everyone rush out, her expression awful.
Even though she knew they weren’t targeting her, it still left a bad taste in her mouth.
Once everyone finished throwing up and returned to the dining room, Ginny Jarvis took out a carton of milk and poured a glass for each person.
“Alright, drink some milk to protect your stomachs.
I’ll clear away the vegetables so you can eat a little more.”
Cecilia Sinclair held her waist, took the milk from Ginny, and downed it in a few gulps.
“Oh my god, I’m alive again.
Thank heavens!”
Ginny smiled.
“Aunt Caroline, it’s not suitable for everyone to eat these kinds of vegetables right now.
Please don’t cook them for the next couple of days.
Make something else instead.”
“What gives you the right to boss my mom around?
Why should she cook for you guys?” Lyra Kane stood up and confronted Ginny.
Ginny sneered.
“Does Aunt Caroline feel the same way?”
“No, Jarvis, Lyra is just speaking nonsense.
Of course not.”
Ginny looked at Lyra and spoke slowly, “From now on, if you want to stay here, you need to find your proper place.
Everyone here either goes out to kill zombies or cooks for the group like Aunt Caroline.
I don’t feed freeloaders, and I have no obligation to support you.”
“How can you say that?
Then why did you bring us here yesterday?
Besides, how could I possibly beat a zombie?
You’re so strong, can’t you just kill a few extra?
How could I go out and kill?”
“Then leave, Lyra Kane.
I said I don’t feed freeloaders.”
Seeing Ginny’s ruthless demeanor, not only Lyra but even Caroline was startled.
“Jar…
Jarvis, she’s still young.
I…
I’ll share my food with Lyra.
She’s looked up to you since she was little, you can’t kick her out!”
“Aunt Caroline, some things don’t need to be spelled out.
Did you guys really not know in the beginning that Xander Kane and Vivian Kane caused my parents’ death?”
Upon hearing Ginny’s words, Caroline instantly panicked.
Her eyes were filled with guilt as she hastily stood up and grabbed Ginny’s arm.
“Jarvis, what nonsense are you saying?
I really just found out!
I’m not lying to you, I swear!”
“Haha.
Aunt Caroline, you only get one chance.
Tell me when you found out, and whether you were involved in this matter.”
Seeing Ginny coldly interrogating her mother, Lyra stood up.
“Ginny, what are you spouting?
You’re not allowed to talk to my mom like that!
When your parents passed away, it was my mom who stayed by your side to help you get through it.”
“If your mom hadn’t kept me company for a month, do you think you’d be allowed to live here?”
After stating that coldly, Ginny pulled her chair back and sat down, staring at the flustered Caroline.
Meanwhile, the others were staring in shock at Caleb Grant.
Cecilia coughed twice and nudged Timmy’s arm, signaling him to leave.
She then tugged on Clark Chandler and Mason Ryder’s sleeves.
The four of them quietly slipped out of the dining room.
Sean Kane sat at the table with a gloomy expression, looking at the two women.
“Aunt Caroline, you and Lyra should leave.
We will pack some supplies for you.
You know how to drive, and there’s another car in my garage; you can have it.”
“I don’t want to!
Sean, you can’t kick us out!
There are so many zombies outside, I’m too scared…
WAAH WAAH WAAH…”
Faced with Lyra’s shrill, ear-piercing wails, Ginny felt her suppressed anger reaching a boiling point.
“Shut up.
If you want to cry, go outside.
You’re ruining my meal,” Caleb said coldly.
Caleb’s words stunned Ginny and Sean, and completely frightened Lyra silly.
Looking at Caleb’s dark, gloomy face, Lyra was so terrified she let out a tearful hiccup, while Caroline gave a violent shudder.
“Jarvis, I truly didn’t know about this in the beginning.
I only found out after your parents passed away, I swear!
But I really don’t know the exact details.”
Looking at Caroline, it was the first time Ginny felt she couldn’t see through this aunt of hers.
“Alright, I understand.
I’m done eating; I’m going to check on the little guy.”
Ginny left the dining room.
Walking into the living room, she looked at the group sitting on the sofa whispering among themselves and said lightly, “What?
Are you all full?”
“No, no, we’re going to eat right now, sis, hehe,” Cecilia said with a laugh.
She then dragged the others back to the dining room to resume eating.
Seeing Ginny leave, Caroline tried to seek some comfort from Sean.
“Shannon, Jarvis has really grown up now.
It must be hard on you!”
“Heh, my sister has always been great.
It’s not hard at all,” Sean replied sarcastically, then continued his meal.
Rebuffed, Caroline didn’t say anything more.
She knew in her heart that she had to stay in Ginny’s villa.
Everything she had witnessed on the road that night made her realize she couldn’t possibly protect Lyra on her own.
Meanwhile, after heading upstairs, Ginny went straight to Caroline’s room to check on the infant.
After all, she was the one who had brought him back.
Although she wasn’t particularly fond of kids, remembering his mother’s sacrifice yesterday made her want to raise the child.
As soon as she walked in, Ginny saw the little guy happily chewing on his own toes.
Seeing Ginny, the baby immediately broke into a wide, toothless grin.
“You’re certainly easy to look after.
No crying, no fussing. This chapter is updated first at g.com.
It really is bliss to be ignorant of everything.
Why do you love smiling so much?
Hmm?” Ginny murmured, gently pinching his chubby little cheeks.
“Mama, mama…” An infant’s voice echoed directly into Ginny’s mind.
She instantly froze in place.
“Who?
Who’s talking?” Then, a thought struck her.
Her eyes widened as she stared at the baby on the bed.
“No…
don’t tell me it’s you?”
“Mama…
mama…” Hearing the slightly tearful telepathic voice, paired with the fact that the little guy physically looked like he was about to cry, Ginny knew for sure it was him.
She never expected this little tyke to have awakened a Spiritual Ability.
That was incredible!
With such a rare Spiritual Ability, it seemed she couldn’t put him up for adoption anymore.
Otherwise, there was no guarantee he wouldn’t be exploited for evil.
“Are you looking for your mama?”
As soon as she spoke, the baby pouted, looking like he was really about to burst into tears.
Then, the voice echoed in her mind again: “See mama…
ma…”
“Alright, I’ll take you there later.
But your mama went to heaven.
Do you know that?”
Evidently, the baby understood, because he immediately let out a loud WAAH and started bawling.
Clumsily, Ginny scooped the little guy up from the bed to coax him.
“There, there, don’t cry.
Your mama just went on a vacation.
Not just anyone can go there, you know.”
“Liar…
bad…”
Ginny was flabbergasted by the baby’s words.
So he actually understood!
She had assumed a brat this small wouldn’t know a thing!
It seemed awakening a Spiritual Element Ability also boosted one’s IQ!
“Little rascal, if you say bad things again, I won’t give you any milk.
Hurry up and apologize to me.”
“Bad…
bad…”
After projecting that, the little guy turned his head away, ignoring her completely.
Watching his antics, Ginny couldn’t help but find it absolutely hilarious.
She teased him for a little while longer until she noticed him growing listless, his eyelids dropping heavily.
Guessing he must be tired, she gently patted his back.
Before long, his eyes slid shut and he drifted off to sleep.
Thinking back on her own actions, Ginny was highly amused, musing that she actually seemed to have the potential to be a loving wife and doting mother.
She laid the little guy down, tucked him in with a nearby blanket, and quietly left the room.
