Returning to her room, Ginny Jarvis went straight into her dimension, ready to absorb the Corpse Crystals.
Upon opening the bag, she discovered that at least two-thirds of the crystals had lost their luster.
She stared blankly at the Corpse Crystals scattered on the floor.
“Did the dimension absorb them?
It’s that sentient?”
After muttering to herself, Ginny took the remaining Corpse Crystals out of the dimension.
Though the dimension was important, it was crucial that she absorbed the Energy herself right now.
Otherwise, if she ran into another mutant, she’d be in grave danger.
In her past life, she hadn’t left her room until a week after the zombie virus outbreak due to a lack of food, so she had no idea what happened during those first seven days.
She was completely in the dark about the outside situation.
Back outside her dimension, Ginny immediately began absorbing the crystals.
She had a strong feeling that she was about to reach Level 1.
Just as she expected, after absorbing four Corpse Crystals, she finally broke through to Level 1.
Instantly, she felt the Energy within her become much richer and more refined.
On top of that, she couldn’t shake the feeling that her spiritual power was much stronger in this life.
In her previous life, she hadn’t been able to take things out of the dimension at all if she entered and exited too frequently.
But things were different this time.
Yesterday, while fighting the mutant dog, she had easily retrieved a grenade from her dimension.
Ginny rejoiced for a moment before continuing to absorb the Corpse Crystals.
After using up about a dozen more, she checked the time.
It was already four in the afternoon, so she finally left her room.
When she went downstairs, she saw Lyra Kane dragging the little guy across the floor.
Yes, literally dragging.
Caroline Corbin had told Lyra to mop, but since Lyra didn’t want to, she had carried him down from upstairs and wrapped him in a rag.
She directly grabbed his arms, dragging Mimi along.
Seeing what Lyra was doing, Ginny instantly flew into a rage.
She marched over and kicked Lyra straight to the ground.
“Lyra Kane, are you out of your fucking mind?
Are you a sadist?”
“Ginny Jarvis, what is wrong with you?
Why did you kick me?
Sean used to treat me like this too, and you guys never stopped him!
It’s no big deal.
Besides, he’s just some stray brat you picked up, is it really worth all this?”
Lyra’s words left Ginny dumbfounded.
For the first time, she realized she didn’t know her younger cousin at all.
She could only think that Lyra was truly Xander Kane’s spawn—just as shameless as him.
“Lyra Kane, you’ve got nerve.
Get the hell out of here, right now.”
With that, Ginny stepped forward, scooped the little guy into her arms, and went upstairs to get the others.
After knocking on everyone’s doors one by one, she headed up to the third floor to find Caroline.
“Caroline, come out for a second.
I’ll wait for you downstairs.”
After speaking, Ginny didn’t care what Caroline thought; she just went straight downstairs to wait.
Cecilia Sinclair and Clark Chandler were the first to come down.
Stifling their laughter, they sat on the sofa next to Ginny.
By the time Caroline came downstairs, everyone had already gathered.
“Lyra, what’s wrong?
Oh my, why are you sitting on the floor?
Hurry and get up.”
“SOB SOB SOB…
Ginny hit me.
Mom, I…”
“Shut up,” Ginny cut in.
“Caroline, are you going to leave with Lyra, or is she leaving by herself?”
Caroline’s face fell at Ginny’s words.
Her mouth opened and closed before she finally managed to say, “Jarvis, how can you say that?
Lyra is still young and foolish.
You…”
Sean Kane, who was just coming downstairs, heard this.
He felt absolutely zero sympathy for Caroline.
“Caroline, is Jarvis not young too?” Sean retorted.
“Leave on your own while I’m still asking nicely.
You know what happened to my parents.
The fact that we even brought you out with us is already repaying whatever kindness you’ve shown us over the years.”
He glared darkly at the mother and daughter as he finished speaking.
Caroline and Lyra were frightened by Sean’s intimidating demeanor.
Lyra kept her head down, sobbing continuously, while Caroline’s gaze darted back and forth between the two siblings.
“Jarvis, I…
I…”
“I’ve already prepared food, water, and a car for you,” Ginny said coldly.
“Take them while I’m still being nice.
Cecilia, you and Clark go pack up some supplies.
You can grab a little extra.
Mr.
Thorne, go to the garage and bring out the Hummer.”
Ginny couldn’t bear to part with her off-road vehicle, but the Hummer hadn’t been modified yet, making it the perfect vehicle to give them.
Looking at Ginny’s indifferent expression, Lyra muttered, “Fine, we’ll leave.
HMPH, you’re not that great anyway.”
Ginny couldn’t be bothered to entertain her.
Only after leveling up had she realized that Lyra had actually awakened an Ability.
Lyra had probably figured it out herself and was no longer satisfied with her current standing.
If she wanted to leave, then let her leave.
Ginny wanted to see just how well Lyra would fare in this life!
Once the supplies were packed, Lyra grabbed the reluctant Caroline and dragged her straight toward the vehicle.
“Mom, get in the car.
We’re leaving.
HMPH.”
Caroline remained hesitant, but under Lyra’s insistence, she eventually started the car and drove out of the Clearsprings Community where Ginny stayed.
“Lyra, we can’t keep going.
This area has been cleared out by them, so it’s safe.
What if we run into zombies further ahead?”
“Mom, it’s fine.
Keep driving.
We’re going to pick someone up.”
Caroline grew even more confused when Lyra said she wanted to keep going, but she followed her daughter’s instructions and kept driving.
That was until she saw a man in a black robe limping toward them.
“Mom, stop the car.”
Looking at the terrifying man ahead, Caroline only slowed the vehicle down.
“Lyra, who is this person?
You…”
“Stop the car!
He’s someone who can help us get stronger, HAHA!”
“Sigh.” Caroline ultimately stopped the car as Lyra demanded.
However, looking at the black-robed man in front of her, she couldn’t stop the chills running down her spine.
After the black-robed man got in the car, Lyra kept staring at him.
“Are you…
the Prophet?”
Upon hearing her question, the man turned his head and glared at her with cold, sinister eyes.
“Shut up.”
He then pulled out a map, pointed to a specific area, and said, “Go here.
I’ll tell you the rest of the way once we arrive.”
“I…
I’m not going!
Get out of the car.
Lyra, tell him to get out.”
To Caroline’s shock, as soon as she finished speaking, the man let out a cold sneer.
“What?
Do you still want to go back to that ungrateful niece of yours?
She’s the one who murdered your husband in cold blood, HAHA!”
Sitting in the driver’s seat, Caroline slammed hard on the brakes.
With bloodshot eyes, she whipped her head around to look at the man.
“What nonsense are you spouting?”
“HAHA, bet you didn’t expect that, did you?
And you still wanted to go crawling back to her.
You truly have no idea how you’re going to die!
Drive!”
The man’s raspy roar left Caroline trembling uncontrollably, and two streams of tears slowly spilled from her eyes.
She took a few deep breaths, but her hands wouldn’t stop shaking.
Her vision through the windshield began to blur, and her entire body went weak.
Punching her own legs fiercely, Caroline wept in silence.
In the backseat, Lyra huddled in the corner, her face etched with pure hatred.
She had already cried her eyes out when she learned the news last night, so it no longer mattered to her.
All that remained in her heart was a burning hatred for Ginny.
A flicker of sadistic pleasure flashed through the black-robed man’s eyes as he watched their suffering.
Once Caroline regained a bit of her strength, she looked at the man in the back, her tone frosty.
“Get out of the car.
I won’t be your weapon.
They can settle their own grudges in their next lives!”
