The Lamenters Chapter?!

Lancelot froze for an instant when he heard that name, then immediately picked up speed and advanced toward the bridge command center.

At that moment, however, the mortal adjutants responsible for the connection in the command center were visibly tense.Full novel: Warhammer 40K: Secret System — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

In a flustered panic, they opened the vox-channel and urgently consulted Lancelot.

“My lord!

Do you know this Chapter?

Our ship’s records contain no information on them!”

Hearing the mortal officer’s words, Lancelot answered at once.

“I know them.

They are sons of Sanguinius.

They are Blood Angels.

As for why they are not registered in the bridge system, there are many reasons behind that…

Mortal, I need you to establish contact with them immediately!”

Lancelot’s severe voice echoed through the vox-array.

Once those adjutants heard him say that the Lamenters were noble Blood Angels, their morale finally ignited in full.

They did not know why the Lamenters had not directly declared their noble identity as sons of Sanguinius.

But since Lancelot, a Dark Angel, had identified the other party as angels as well, then as mortals, there were indeed certain things they did not need to know.

Thus, under Lancelot’s reminder, the command center immediately established communications with the Lamenters’ warship and informed them that a Dark Angel was aboard their vessel, fighting within it as well.

The Lamenters did not say much in response.

They swiftly drew up boarding tactics, preparing first to help the Cobra-class destroyer clear out the trouble inside.

And just after that brief communication ended, Lancelot finally stepped into the bridge command center with his power sword in hand.

“Lord Brother.”

Every mortal and officer present offered Lancelot the highest degree of respect, for they knew all too well what divine might this angel of the Emperor possessed.

He had practically torn his way through every xenos obstruction from the most remote cargo hold all the way here.

What shocked them even more was that after slaughtering his way through all of that, there was still no visible damage on the Brother’s armor.

Such divine might made men cry out the Emperor’s blessing.

After Lancelot entered the command center, he immediately issued his order.

“I need to speak directly with the Chapter Master of the Lamenters.”

Lancelot’s objective was clear.

At the same time, he rapidly reviewed what he knew of this Chapter, which was willing to come to the rescue of mortals.

Their history began with the 21st Founding.

To answer the increasingly dire state of the galaxy, the Adeptus Astartes were naturally the backbone of the Imperium.

As a result, the Imperium would carry out large-scale Foundings at set intervals.

However, during the 21st Founding, the members of the Adeptus Mechanicus responsible for the project developed certain improper ambitions.

They wanted to improve the most important thing an Astartes possessed: the gene-seed.

They wanted to eliminate the genetic flaws of certain Chapters, such as the Black Rage and the Red Thirst within the gene-seed of the Blood Angels.

The original intent may have been good.

Resolve the genetic defects of the older Chapters and create stronger, more stable new Space Marines.

Unfortunately, not everyone was the famous Archmagos of the Adeptus Mechanicus, Belisarius Cawl, who possessed the ability to modify the Astartes created by the Emperor Himself.

Thus, during the 21st Founding, the Imperium made a colossal mistake.

The Space Marines created through their modifications were almost all failures.

Their gene-seed was extremely unstable, and many Chapters were annihilated not long after their creation, turned traitor, or were purged by the Imperium.

Because of this, the 21st Founding came to be known as the Cursed Founding.

But as far as the Lamenters were concerned, they were one of the few good examples from the Cursed Founding.

The Blood Angels’ original Black Rage and Red Thirst had both undergone positive modification in their case.

Yet even so…

they were still branded with the name of the cursed.

They suffered the Imperium’s contempt and distrust, as if they had been stained from birth by ill fortune itself.

Afterward, they were nearly wiped out several times, were regarded as traitors by the Imperium, had their flagship plundered by the Minotaurs Chapter, and were forced onto a Penitent Crusade.

Yet even then, they remained willing to fight for the Imperium of Man.

Most precious of all was that although this Chapter had suffered the suspicion of other Astartes Chapters and the contempt of the Imperium’s upper echelons, in battle, they felt the praise and recognition of the Imperium’s mortal warriors.

As sons of Sanguinius, they built a bond of friendship with the Imperium’s vast masses of ordinary people.

Thus, aside from the Salamanders, they became one of the few Space Marine Chapters willing to risk everything for mortals.

In this universe that was little better than a cesspit, they shone with a rare light of humanity, worthy of the blood of Sanguinius.

If it was the Lamenters…

then contact was possible.

And as it happened, he had just obtained something useful…

As Lancelot thought this, the Secret Keeper panel that only he could see appeared before his eyes.

Within what had once been an empty Level One, Silent-grade Secret Keeper archive, a new record had now appeared.

[Secret Recorded: The Twenty-One Primarchs]

[Secret Level: Level Two: Hidden.]

[Description: Mortals have always believed that the Imperium created only nine Primarchs, but in truth, the Emperor created twenty-one Primarchs.

The existence of two gene-sires was erased, nine gene-sires rebelled, and the Primarch of the Alpha Legion was in fact a pair of twins.]

[Secret Keeper Reward: Space Marine Basic Forge Template Authority]

[Combat Points: +0]

[Current Combat Points: 95]

…

Since the secret of the Second Imperium could be recorded, then matters concerning the gene-sires could naturally be entered among the secrets as well.

However, the scope covered by this secret was enormous.

In essence, it included information on all the traitor gene-sires, but fortunately, what it gave him was extraordinarily important.

Space Marine Basic Forge Template Authority.

Lancelot’s Secret Keeper system had a storage space of its own, and this forging authority was similar to placing an STC from humanity’s Dark Age of Technology inside that storage space.

To put it simply, it was an AI-powered atomic disassembly and reconstruction printer.

Throw a pile of scrap metal inside, and it could efficiently produce Mark VII Aquila power armor, standard-issue boltguns, bolt rounds, chainswords, all kinds of grenades, medical supplies, and even vehicles: anti-gravity jetbikes.

Unfortunately, what it gave him was not the forge template itself, but the authority to forge.

If he wanted to make anything, he still had to do it himself, and he also needed to actively unlock the authority.

It was highly versatile, but it could not produce items automatically.

Even so, it was enough to give Lancelot the ability to arm a resource-starved Space Marine Chapter.

And the representative example of resource-starved…

was the Lamenters Chapter.

These weeping men, unloved by father or mother, possessing no homeworld and forced to wander as nomads, yet still inheriting the noble qualities of Sanguinius, completely fit the definition of resource-starved.

On top of that, they were also sons of Sanguinius.

Together with him, they could just about form a Second Imperium bond…

No, that was not right.

Their combat style could complement that of his Dark Angels.

A ten-point overall increase in combat power.

The effect would be absolutely absurd.

If he could build good relations with the Lamenters Chapter, then in this cesspit of a universe, he could be considered to have found a small measure of connections.
