Right now, Lynn couldn’t run as fast as Cecilia, a Sister of Battle.

Cecilia grabbed Lynn every now and then, dragging him along as they ran.

When Lynn couldn’t run anymore, Cecilia half-dragged and half-pulled him into the passage they had come from.Full novel: Warhammer: I Draw Traits in Warhammer, and the Emperor Stood Up? — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The cultists’ screams were reflected and amplified by the stone walls of the passage—chaotic, disorderly, and everywhere, like countless bats flying wildly in the dark.

Suddenly, red cultist light surged from the other end of the passage as well, illuminating the passage’s contours and lighting up both the front and back.

——The cultists had blocked the passage entrance on the other side; they were surrounded.

The cultists pursued them out.

Cecilia pulled Lynn behind her and engaged them in combat alone.

With a front kick right to the chest of one cultist, before that cultist could even react to what happened, he went flying backward, crashing into the second person behind him, and the two rolled together in a tangled heap.

Lynn pulled out his dagger, wanting to jump in too, but looking down at his dagger and then at Cecilia’s steel pipe, he suddenly felt that his holding the dagger was doing an injustice to the weapon’s true potential.

“Sister!” Taking advantage of a gap, Lynn swiftly and nimbly shoved the dagger to Cecilia.

Cecilia didn’t look back, but her hand was like it had grown eyes.

Reaching back, she steadily grasped the hilt of the dagger.

She then shoved that piece of steel pipe to Lynn.

Grabbing the steel pipe, Lynn also started swinging wildly at the cultists.

With the dagger in hand, Cecilia was like a tiger with wings.

The screams of cultists and the sound of blades cutting into flesh constantly erupted around them.

Lynn didn’t dare look closely, instead just swinging wildly in every direction, because while dispatching cultists, Cecilia was also getting injured herself.

Cecilia currently had no armor.

Although she had a dagger, facing so many cultists—especially with so many psychic cultists among them—a dagger was too weak.

The cultists’ offensive faltered because they realized these two people just wouldn’t die no matter how hard they hit them.

That woman’s dagger seemed like it was grafted to her hand, every strike lethal.

So they let the Psykers among the Chaos cultists make their move.

The Psykers raised their staves, and that red light Lynn was so familiar with flew out from the staves, densely enveloping Cecilia.

Cecilia dodged sideways, but there was simply too much red light.

One beam grazed past her left arm, exploding into a dark red spark on her upper arm.

Cecilia let out a muffled groan, gritted her teeth, and gripped the dagger tightly, still glaring vigilantly at the group of cultists.

Fighting against Psykers is truly disgusting, especially when the Psykers have guards and you can’t reach them to attack.

Cecilia was not an augmented Astartes warrior; no matter how skilled she was, she was just a mortal, and without equipment, her combat effectiveness was severely reduced.

Facing Chaos Psykers protected behind a large horde of cultists, she was outmatched.

Cecilia was hit by another beam of red light, this time worse than the last; a trickle of blood even appeared at the corner of her mouth.

“Yes——!” The cultists cheered, screamed, and shouted, “Hail the Blood God.” At a time like this, Lynn was quite useless, only able to wildly swing the steel pipe to beat back the surrounding cultists.

The Psykers stood in the middle of the cultists; he couldn’t charge in, and neither could Cecilia.

At this moment, Lynn wished he were an Astartes.

Astartes are augmented warriors with two hearts, three lungs, and titanic strength; in this kind of situation, they wouldn’t need to run at all; they could tear open cultists’ skulls with their bare hands.

“Blood God!

Blood God!

Blood God!” “Kill her!

Kill her!” “Sacrifice!

Sacrifice!” The shouts and screams grew louder and louder, the dark red light flashing madly.

Cecilia almost shattered her teeth grinding them, and then she suddenly charged toward the group of cultists.

The cultists’ screaming choked off for a split second; they never expected this woman to actually charge at them.

Did she have a death wish?

They subconsciously took a step back, afraid that this Sister of Battle was trying to take them down with her.

It was this single step that yielded a precious gap in the tight encirclement.

“Run!” Cecilia suddenly shouted at Lynn.

Without hesitation, Lynn immediately followed Cecilia’s order and ran outward.

Cecilia also ran out, following behind him.

Behind them, the cultists’ screams exploded into a frenzy, with hundreds of cultists fiercely pursuing them with righteous indignation.

Lynn ran with all his might; this time, it was his turn to lead Cecilia in their escape.

The two of them desperately broke through the cultist encirclement and began running for their lives.

Lord, have mercy; they absolutely had to escape.

With hundreds, maybe thousands of cultists, if they were surrounded again, it would be difficult to break through.

Lynn turned left, turned left, and turned left again.

He vaguely remembered running this way before.

He didn’t know the map anyway, so he ignored the intersections and just kept turning left, exclusively picking those dark, narrow passages to squeeze through.

However, only picking narrow passages occasionally leads to crashing and burning, too.

For example, the cave veins extended like blood vessels, and many narrow passages were actually dead ends.

Lynn ran to the end of a particularly narrow passage and squeezed through, only to find that this was a small cavern with no path ahead; it was a dead end.

But somewhat luckily, outside the entrance to this small cave was a protruding rock blocking it; without looking closely, one wouldn’t even notice there was a hole here.

Lynn turned around and reached out his hand, just about to tell Cecilia not to come in.

But it was already too late.

Cecilia had already arrived, grabbed Lynn’s hand, and squeezed in as well.

In the narrow little cave, the two of them stared at each other in dismay.

The sounds of their pursuers were right on their heels.

The footsteps of the cultists echoed from outside the passage.

There were many of them.

The footsteps were chaotic and heavy, mixed with the cultists’ hoarse, panting voices.

“Gone…

both of them are gone…” “Search!

Search every single hole!

They couldn’t have run far!” “The Blood God wants their blood!

If we can’t find them, the Blood God will take our blood!” “Keep searching!” …

The footsteps drew closer and closer.

They were surrounded.

The cultists were searching cave by cave and would be searching this one any second.

Cecilia’s hand was very cold.

Her arm had been injured earlier.

It was trembling.

But her other hand gripped that dagger tightly, the blade pointing outward, facing the cave entrance.

Cecilia turned her head to listen closely to the movements of the pursuers outside.

Only then did Lynn realize it was actually his hand that was trembling, not Cecilia’s.

“…” He felt a pang of shame.

In the dark, they listened to the cultists’ footsteps, listened to the cultists walking back and forth in the passage, searching the caves one by one.

Finding nothing, they would yell, “Empty!” and continue forward.

Lynn heard the sound of them talking.

“This hole, has it been searched?” “Searched, empty!” “What about this one?” “Not yet, you go look!” Those cultists’ footsteps drew closer and closer, closer and closer.

Until—— They stopped right outside the cave where they were hiding.
