On the 15th day!
Lynn felt like he was about to turn into a walking corpse!
He felt like f*cking turning into a zombie on the spot to turn around and bite that group of cultists to death.
That group of cultists had been chasing him for 15 days and still didn’t plan on giving up.
Just how deep-seated of a blood feud was this???
Didn’t he just steal a little bit of their food——??????
It was infuriating.
The cultists could change shifts—and they had changed shifts several times—while he was running entirely on his own; he practically wouldn’t be able to rest in peace if he died.
While Sister Cecilia hadn’t returned, he harassed the system; in short, he absolutely refused to sit alone and be emo.
As Lynn ran, he said in his mind, “System, it’s the fifteenth day.” The system said, [Mhm.] “Are these cultists not planning on giving up?” [Mhm.] “Are they really going to keep chasing me like this forever???” [Mhm.] “…Can you only say ‘mhm’?” [Mhm.] Lynn: “Woke up, system’s intelligence dropped by 100 times.” Lynn: “Mental state collapsed.” He stopped in his tracks.
The system was immediately alarmed.
[What are you doing?
Don’t give up!
Keep going!!
Keep going!!!] “Adding three exclamation marks is useless!” Lynn continued running.
He was used to marathons and whatnot by now.
But today’s situation was a bit different.
As he ran, a warning suddenly flashed in his mind.
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding—— It was very intense and very distant, as if coming from the end of the passage, but the hostility wasn’t directed at him.
This warning was very strange; it pointed not in the direction the cultists were chasing him from, but completely in the opposite direction ahead.
Ahead?
What was ahead?
Before Lynn had time to think in detail, a massive Boom——!!!
echoed from the direction of the passage’s end.
Holy crap!
Lynn stopped in his tracks, shocked and uncertain.
Some kind of heavy machinery smashed against the stone; the entire passage was shaking, and crushed rocks rained down from the ceiling with a clatter.
Lynn hurriedly covered his head and squatted down to avoid the falling rocks, but unfortunately, a fist-sized rock smashed right onto his back, making him howl, “Ouch!” The cultists also stopped, scattering to find cover and poking their heads out, looking in the direction of the sound with a mixture of shock and fear.
Bright blue electric light illuminated the corner of the passage.
Lynn poked half his head out to look in that direction as well.
——A silver figure stepped out from the corner of the passage.
The figure was very tall, a full head taller than most of the cultists, approaching 1.9 meters with broad shoulders, narrow waist, and long legs, wearing a suit of silver power armor.
Every step stomped onto the ground, with heavy metal combat boots treading over the stones with a hard, aggressive sound and an imposing presence.
It was Sororitas power armor.
The armor plating had golden decorative patterns, with an Imperial Aquila relief carved into the left pauldron.
In the center of the chest plate was the chapter symbol, bearing an eagle with spread wings.
In her right hand, she wielded a very broad power sword.
The energy circuits on the sword’s blade crackled with a clear blue electric light amidst the dark red glow of the cultists.
She held that sword in her hand, hanging by her side, the tip pointing downward, just like an unsheathed scythe of the Grim Reaper.
The combat armor included a silver helmet and a dark glass visor that obscured her face, but Lynn didn’t need to see her face.
It was a Sister of Battle, standard armor.
Only one Sister of Battle would come here.
——It was his Big Sister, returning with her equipment!!!!!
Cecilia had returned with her equipment, taken up her power sword, donned her power armor, and descended like a divine warrior right in front of the pursued Lynn.
Then, Cecilia delivered a thunderous kick that sent the cultist closest to Lynn flying.
That cultist flew backward as if he had been rammed by a dump truck.
Lynn’s tears instantly burst forth.
“Sob, sob, Sister, you finally came back!
Sister, you have to stand up for me!!!” Cecilia turned her head to look at Lynn, the silver helmet swiveling to face his direction.
Then Cecilia pointed behind him, gesturing for him to step back a bit; it was time to throw down.
Once a Sister of Battle put on her power armor, it truly filled one with an immense sense of security.
Lynn immediately and obediently stood to the back, absolutely not hindering his Sister’s performance.
The Sister of Battle’s helmet turned back around, facing those cultists.
Then she raised her sword.
“I fear no evil, I fear no death.
I do not fear evil, I do not fear death.
You all had better be the same.” That moment was like an aircraft carrier turning around.
It was highly recommended that the cultists immediately write their wills.
…
The cultists exploded like a kicked hornets’ nest.
“A Sister of Battle——!!!” “She’s back——!!!” “She brought her equipment——!!!” However, there were also those who were more level-headed.
A cultist looking like a minor boss stepped forward, raised the blade in his hand, and shouted, “Don’t panic; we have so many Psykers——!!!
Psykers, form up——” While they were shouting, Cecilia moved.
She charged fiercely at those blasphemous cultists.
Lynn couldn’t even clearly see how she charged; he only saw a silver blur sweep past, and then, with a Bang, the cultist at the very front went flying as if hit by a truck.
…Shessshhhh.
The power armor’s servo motors roared, the sound as deep as a beast’s growl.
The strength of a Sister of Battle, amplified by power armor, was simply not something these average cultists could block; wherever she passed, the cultists all turned into rolling gourds scattered across the floor.
But the cultists weren’t entirely without the power to resist; they still had so many Psykers.
The Psykers had psychic repulsion and those energy weapons.
A dark red ball of lightning flew toward Cecilia’s back.
Cecilia dodged sideways just in time, but the lightning grazed past her power armor, still leaving a scorch mark.
That red ball of lightning hit the stone wall, blasting a large crater in it and sending debris flying.
…#%&*, these Psykers are a real pain to deal with.
The Psyker cultists had already formed up, and even more red balls of lightning densely flew toward them.
Cecilia turned around, lunged to grab Lynn, and ran outward.
Although she had her equipment now, it still wasn’t enough to completely wipe out these Chaos cultists, but breaking out with Lynn shouldn’t be a problem.
Facing a fully equipped Sister of Battle, the cultists suffered no small number of casualties.
After weighing the pros and cons, they resentfully gave up the pursuit.
They retreated to the corner of the passage, retreating to the edge of the dark red halo, glaring viciously as Cecilia ran off with Lynn in hand.
It wasn’t worth it.
To engage in a fight to the death with a fully equipped Sister of Battle just to catch a petty thief wasn’t worth it.
The Blood God likes blood, yes, but for the sake of a blood sacrifice they could easily find a replacement for at any time, they weren’t all going to charge up mindlessly and throw their lives away for nothing.
