The Lamenters Chapter?!
After hearing this name, Lancelot was stunned for a moment, then immediately sped up his advance towards the bridge’s command center.
But at that moment, in the command center, the mortal adjutants responsible for coordination were exceptionally tense, anxiously and hastily questioning Lancelot through the communications channel.
“My Lord!
Do you know of this Chapter?
Our ship’s databanks contain no information regarding them!” Hearing the mortal officer’s words, Lancelot quickly replied: “I know of them.
They are the sons of Sanguinius; they are Blood Angels.
As for why they are not registered in the bridge’s system, there are various other reasons for that…
Mortal, I need you to connect with them immediately!” Lancelot’s voice echoed solemnly through the vox-channel at that moment.
And upon hearing Lancelot tell them that the Lamenters were noble Blood Angels, the morale of these adjutants was finally completely ignited!
Although they didn’t understand why the Lamenters Chapter didn’t directly state their noble identity as the sons of Sanguinius, since Lancelot, a Dark Angel, had verified the other party’s identity as Angels, they, as mortals, didn’t need to know anything more!
Therefore, under Lancelot’s direction, the command center immediately established communications with the Lamenters Chapter’s warship, informing them that there was currently a Dark Angel aboard who was likewise fighting within the ship.
The Lamenters didn’t say much about this, but simply and rapidly formulated boarding tactics, preparing to first help the Cobra-class destroyer clear out its internal troubles.
Right after the communication finished, Lancelot finally stepped into the bridge’s command center carrying his power sword.
“My Lord.” All the mortals and officers extended the highest degree of respect to Lancelot.
They deeply understood how awe-inspiring this Angel of the Emperor before them was, having practically torn through all the xenos obstacles all the way from the remote cargo hold.
What was even more shocking was that after slaughtering his way here, there wasn’t a single sign of damage on the Battle-Brother’s armor.
Such divine might made one cry out for the Emperor’s blessing.
After arriving at the command center, Lancelot immediately issued an order.
“I need to speak directly with the Chapter Master of the Lamenters.” Lancelot’s objective was clear.
At the same time, his mind rapidly went over what he knew about this Chapter that was willing to come to the rescue of mortals.
The Lamenters Chapter.
Their history originated from the 21st Founding.
To cope with the escalating galactic situation, the Astartes naturally became the backbone of the Imperium.
Therefore, every so often, the Imperium would carry out a large-scale mass Founding.
However, during the 21st Founding, the members of the Adeptus Mechanicus responsible for it developed some unorthodox ideas.
They wanted to improve the most important aspect of the Astartes—their gene-seed—to eliminate certain genetic flaws in Chapters, such as the Black Rage and Red Thirst found in the Blood Angels’ gene-seed.
The original intention behind this idea was perhaps good: to resolve the genetic flaws of the old Chapters and create stronger, more stable new Space Marines.
It was just that not everyone was the renowned Magos Belisarius Cawl, with the ability to alter the Astartes created by the Emperor.
Thus, the Imperium experienced a massive failure during this 21st Founding.
The Space Marines they modified were almost entirely failures.
Their genes were extremely unstable, and many Chapters were wiped out, turned traitor, or even purged by the Imperium shortly after being founded.
Because of this, the 21st Founding also came to be known as the Cursed Founding.
As for the Lamenters Chapter, they were one of the few successes of the Cursed Founding.
The original Black Rage and Red Thirst of the Blood Angels were both successfully mitigated in them.
Yet even so…
they were still branded as cursed, enduring the Imperium’s contempt and distrust, as if tainted by innate misfortune.
Later on, they experienced near-annihilation several times, were viewed as traitors by the Imperium, had their flagship plundered by the Minotaurs Chapter, and were even sent on a Penitent Crusade, yet they still remained willing to fight for the Imperium of Man.
What was most commendable was that although this Chapter suffered the suspicion of other Astartes Chapters and the contempt of the Imperial higher-ups, they earned the praise and recognition of the Imperium’s mortal soldiers in battle.
As the sons of Sanguinius, they built friendships with the vast majority of the Imperium’s people.
Therefore, they became one of the few Space Marine Chapters, alongside the Salamanders, willing to risk their lives for mortals.
In this cesspit-like universe, they shone with a rare brilliance of humanity, truly worthy of the blood of Sanguinius.
If it’s the Lamenters…
then making contact would be good.
It just so happens I recently gained some things…
Lancelot thought to himself as the Secret Keeper panel, visible only to him, surfaced before his eyes.
In the previously empty Level 1: Silent Secret Keeper archives, a new record had strikingly appeared.
…
[Secret Recorded: The 21 Primarchs] [Secret Level: Level 2: Occult] [Description: Mortals have always believed the Imperium only created nine Primarchs, but in reality, the Emperor created 21 Primarchs.
The existence of two Primarchs was erased, nine Primarchs turned traitor, and among them, the Primarchs of the Alpha Legion are twins.] [Secret Keeper Reward: Astartes Basic Forge Template Authority] [Combat Score: +0] [Current Combat Score: 95] …
Since the secret of Imperium Secundus could be recorded, the matter of the Primarchs naturally could also be included among the secrets.
It was just that the scope of this secret was very broad, essentially encompassing the information of all the traitor Primarchs.
Fortunately, the item it gave him was exceptionally important.
Astartes Basic Forge Template Authority.
Lancelot’s Secret Keeper System had a storage space, and this forge authority was akin to placing an STC from humanity’s Dark Age of Technology inside it…
Simply put, it was an AI atomic disassembler and reassembly printer.
By throwing a pile of scrap metal into it, it could efficiently produce Mark VII Aquila power armor, standard-issue bolters, bolter rounds, and chainswords, as well as various grenades, medical supplies, and even vehicles such as anti-grav jetbikes.
Unfortunately, it didn’t give him the Forge Template itself, but rather the forge authority.
If he wanted to build things, he still had to do it himself, and he also needed to actively use the authority.
It had high versatility but could not produce automatically.
Yet even so, it gave Lancelot the ability to arm a resource-deprived Space Marine Chapter.
And the prime example of being resource-deprived was the Lamenters Chapter.
This group of neglected and orphaned individuals, who had no homeworld and could only wander as nomads, yet who happened to inherit Sanguinius’s noble qualities, perfectly fit the definition of resource-deprived.
Plus, the other party were also the sons of Sanguinius, which perfectly allowed him to form the Imperium Secundus bond…
Oh wait, it was that their combat styles would mutually reinforce his own Dark Angel combat style.
An overall combat power increase of ten points—the effect was staggering.
If he could build a good relationship with the Lamenters Chapter, he could be considered to have found some connections in this cesspit universe!
