The next morning.
Levi immersed himself in the library within the pyramid of his affiliated Pyrae School, constantly flipping through tomes containing psychic knowledge in his hands for the system to scan and list for sale in the system shop.
After watching the meeting between the Emperor and Magnus yesterday, he had headed straight back to his residence and packaged the basic psychic knowledge of the Pyrae in his mind to sell to the system shop.
Afterward, he was surprised to discover that this psychic knowledge, which he had previously considered beneath contempt, actually sold for over 800 Nexus Points.
This value had already far exceeded that first-circle wizard scroll, “Spear of Shadow”.
Levi was ecstatic.
He immediately resolved to scan all the psychic knowledge of the Pyrae and package it for sale in exchange for a massive amount of Nexus Points.
He would use this as his capital to survive in this cruel universe.
Ever since arriving in the Warhammer universe, Levi had clearly realized that the danger level of this world was no less than that of the wizard world.
He had to acquire power as quickly as possible to ensure his own safety.
The library within the pyramid of the Pyrae was enormous.
The dome and colonnades were built of pure white marble, engraved with the blazing red, spread-winged phoenix insignia of the Pyrae.
The circular bookshelves towered into the clouds, and the air was thick with the smell of old paper and the sulfur-like, scorching scent of psychic energy.
Dressed in a deep red robe, Levi stood before the towering bookshelves, rapidly flipping through a copy of Foundations of Great Ocean Projection.
Seeing the system record it for twenty points, he casually stuffed the book back into the gap on the bookshelf in front of him.
Just as he was about to follow his habit and pick up the next heavy tome, footsteps sounded behind him.
“Scholar Levi, pardon the interruption.”
Levi’s outstretched fingers paused.
He stopped his movements and turned to look at the person who had spoken.
The man wore a jackal mask and was dressed as a warrior.
He had an amber scarab badge on his chest and a scimitar hanging at his waist, and he was bowing slightly in greeting.
Levi froze for a moment.
He recognized the masked warrior’s attire—it was the uniform of a member of the Scarab Occult.
Every member of the Scarab Occult was a close personal guard of the Magister Magnus.
Could it be?
Magnus was looking for him?
Although the original owner of this body was a core member of the Pyrae, he was essentially a nobody.
The school’s decisions were largely irrelevant to him.
It was completely impossible for Magnus to bypass Khalophis, the chief magister of the Pyrae, to specifically seek out an ordinary scholar like him.
The jackal warrior seemed to see through Levi’s confusion and immediately explained:
“Magister Magnus has summoned all psychic scholars of the Philosophicus realm and above to proceed to his residence, the Pyramid of Photep.
This naturally includes Scholar Levi.”
“Alright.”
Suppressing his doubts, Levi accepted the summons.
He then followed the jackal warrior, passing through layers of bookshelves to the first-floor hall and through the bronze archway of the Pyrae’s pyramid.
They proceeded along the pure white marble streets of Tizca, finally arriving at Magnus’s residence, the Pyramid of Photep.
This pyramid was constructed of glittering glass and shining metal.
The body of the tower reflected the white marble streetscape in real time.
Coupled with the surrounding clear lake water, it created a magnificent and serene scene.
As soon as Levi approached the entrance to the Pyramid of Photep, he noticed an endless stream of scholars from the five great schools arriving.
Each draped themselves in scholar robes representing the colors of their respective schools, gathering in twos and threes to exchange greetings.
Even Levi had to force a smile and greet these seniors one by one—those at the Philosophicus realm, and even those who had broken through the threshold realm to become psychic masters.
Although this was somewhat inconsistent with the taciturn habits of this body’s original owner, he still had to temporarily survive under Magnus’s command, so he had to keep a low profile and do his best not to offend anyone.
After all, harmony brings wealth.
Besides, showing a smile and being a bit polite cost nothing.
While exchanging pleasantries with the scholars of the various schools, Levi pondered the reason Magnus had summoned them.
He had actually already guessed what was going on.
It was the Flesh Change!
The Curse of the Thousand Sons!
A trap set by Tzeentch, one of the four Warp Gods, against Magnus.
This was also the direct cause of Magnus’s fall to Chaos.
It was a thorny problem that neither Magnus nor the Emperor could solve.
In the middle of the night yesterday, Levi’s psychic intuition had sensed the near-despairing “aura” filling the sky.
The moment he thought of the word “aura,” Levi felt a slight headache.
He truly didn’t understand why Magnus liked to simply refer to the manifestation of psychic energy outside the human body as an “aura.”
And this “aura” contained the host’s emotions and even scattered memory fragments.
After a moment, Levi pulled his thoughts back to the scene he had witnessed the previous night.
He had seen Magnus personally leading over a thousand crystal coffins in a mighty procession to his residence, the Pyramid of Photep.
He had glanced from afar and discovered that inside the transparent coffins were tall Astartes clad in crimson power armor.
Due to the distance and dim lighting, he could not clearly see what those warriors who had conquered the vast galaxy for the Imperium had encountered.
But Levi’s psychic perception had seen that sky full of near-despairing “aura.”
In the real universe, it used pain, confusion, sorrow, and all sorts of negative emotions to form a scene of a living hell.
In the illusions formed by the “aura,” it was entirely the sight of their physical bodies undergoing mutation.
Sprouting twisted tentacles.
Growing hard scales.
Bones no longer staying inside flesh and blood, but protruding on their own to form hideous bone spikes…
Those were all bizarre phenomena of the Flesh Change.
Withdrawing his thoughts, Levi had long since passed through the lengthy black corridor at the entrance to the Pyramid of Photep.
Upon reaching the entrance to the first-floor hall, Levi noticed that the guards here had all been replaced by Custodes clad in golden power armor.
Levi moved forward, following the surging crowd.
While passing a Custodian, he deliberately glanced at the golden power armor on the other party’s body.
The armor gleamed like new, with an eye-catching double-headed eagle insignia engraved on the shoulder guard.
The more he looked, the more he felt that the tall Custodian’s attire truly resembled what those netizens in his previous life had said—exactly like a large yellow corncob.
He also noticed that the armor of this Custodian, extending all the way from the shoulder guard to the front chest, was engraved with a long string of inscriptions.
That was this Custodian’s name, and also the glory of his lifelong campaigns.
He remembered that Custodes always liked to have their names and lifelong military achievements engraved onto their armor, word for word.
However, in Levi’s quickly sweeping line of sight, he saw that the beginning of that ridiculously long string of names seemed to be the word “Amon.”
“Amon?”
Levi sighed inwardly.
He knew this “Amon” wasn’t the equerry Amon under Magnus’s command, but was it also the Custodian Amon who was entangled with the Thousand Sons Legion?
Levi’s thoughts began to wander.
This was his first time coming into close contact with the characters from the Warhammer universe stories of his previous life, and he felt somewhat dazed.
