Stream? What the hell?

"Liam, is there something that’s bothering you?"

Seeing Liam looking upward blankly for so long, Clara asked with a voice filled with concern. Liam dismissed the system from his mind, smiled at her, and shook his head.

"It’s nothing. I was thinking about something else. So, let’s go eat something. It’s lunchtime already, so let’s go back to the hotel?"

"Yeah, I will move in tomorrow. How about you, Liam?"

"I will move in tomorrow as well, or I might take another day to shop."

Megan was excited about moving in the next day, while Liam still had things he needed to buy. For example, his phone was getting old, his clothes looked rugged compared to others, and his car would arrive tomorrow, so he might need another day to arrange everything properly before moving in.

"Shopping?"

Clara’s ears perked up when she heard the word ’shop’ from Liam’s mouth. She loved to shop and roam around the mall; it was her favorite way to spend a day, and now her boyfriend wanted to go shopping. How could she not get even more excited about it?

"Yeah, I need a phone, clothes, a desktop."

"Why not a MacBook?"

Megan asked casually. She was an Apple fangirl, so hearing Liam say desktop made her feel a little weird. The trio were now walking toward the garage, the sun above their heads while the clouds made the whole day look slightly sluggish.

"Because I don’t like laptops. I like a huge setup where I can play games when I’m upset and do whatever I wish. Well, mostly games and sometimes novels."

"Don’t like laptops? They’re the most convenient thing ever, especially Apple’s MacBooks."

"Convenient, sure, but I still don’t like them much. I prefer a desktop as my main workstation."

You didn’t even give these things to me, though. Fuck this green system, but what can I do? Sigh!

"What the fuck happens to you in the middle of a conversation?"

"Huh?"

Megan’s angry voice pulled Liam back to reality. He was shocked to see so many missions coming together at once. His life was finally getting gamified to the max.

"I’m sorry. I guess today is not my day. I got distracted looking at Clara, my bad."

"You were looking at me?"

"Y...yeah."

Liam, seeing Clara walking ahead of him while looking at the lush trees of Princeton, used her as an excuse, only to get hugged by her again the moment she heard his answer.

"Sheesh, you are no less responsible for her behavior being like this. You spoiled her rotten, and if I had to guess why she’s like this toward you, it’s mostly because of you."

This was the first time both Liam and Clara were getting lectured by Megan. At first, they were both shocked, but then they smiled at the same time, making Megan feel weird all of a sudden.

"Wha... What happened?"

"Nothing."

"Meg is finally becoming a friend."

"What?! Nonsense."

Although she pretended to be angry, her face turned red as she grabbed the back door handle of the white Mercedes and sat inside as quickly as possible. Clara wanted Liam to drive, but Liam gestured for her to drive instead and sat in the front passenger seat.

"Relax your feet when you release the brakes. Don’t try to control it too much. It’s a new car, so you will get the hang of it soon. The car shouldn’t jerk when it goes forward."

"It feels jerky to you?"

Liam advised Clara after feeling a little jerk when she pressed the gas, while Megan was shocked when he mentioned it because she felt like Clara was already a very good driver compared to her, so she asked curiously.

"Yeah, it does. I felt it. I will try to do what you told me next time, and Megan, you have to take lessons from me on driving, hehe."

"I don’t care. I don’t have a car."

Megan just shrugged her shoulders to dismiss Clara’s offer and looked outside the car. She missed home. She wanted to leave these two lovebirds alone, but strangely, when she was with them, she felt like she wasn’t alone anymore.

I have to become someone my orphanage can rely on. Sigh!

Growing up in an orphanage was hard. There were very few people she could rely on, and the expensive clothes she wore? Well, those were given to her by her sponsor, a single man who had supported her for years.

Her sponsor was a man in his late fifties named Rudolf. In California, if you knew anything about cartels or businesses connected to them, you would know his name and just how powerful he was. Megan had grown up in an orphanage run by his people.

I don’t wish to marry that guy, but what can I do?

"Megan..."

"Hello? Earth to Megan. I asked, what do you want to eat for lunch? We’re already here."

Liam’s voice woke her up from her trance. A smile appeared on her face as soon as she saw him, and she felt like he really was looking more pleasing to the eye compared to yesterday.

No, no, no, I can’t. He’s taken... but how many times can I convince my heart? When Clara isn’t around... can I control my emotions this well?

"I’ll have a sandwich. I don’t know if they sell it here, though."

In the morning, she had only wanted some simple eggs and toast, but this hotel was just too luxurious for her. Even the simple breakfast items on the menu were written in ways she wasn’t used to. There were things she couldn’t even pronounce properly, let alone ever imagine eating.
