Pei Xi’s visit to the old family mansion had been incredibly rewarding.

After calculating everything, she realized her personal net worth had soared into the hundreds of millions! Something she could never have imagined before. Compared to such vast assets, her own previous earnings would have been only a fraction. Now, married to Si Ruohan, she had achieved true financial freedom.

She wondered whether this was a blessing or a curse. If she and Si Ruohan ever divorced, would he ask for all these assets back? From frugality to luxury was easy—but returning to frugality was much harder.Full novel: What Should I Do After Getting Pregnant with the Second Male Lead’s Child? — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Pei Xi worried she might forget the hardships of her past and no longer be able to live simply. If she left Si Ruohan, how would she survive? The starting point was so high—she couldn’t come back down. She decided she needed to secretly save some private money, so she wouldn’t struggle later.

Her brow furrowed deeply in thought. When Si Ruohan came out of the shower, seeing her like that, he thought she was troubled. He dried his hair and sat beside her.

“Hmm? What’s wrong? Did something happen?”

Pei Xi jumped, realizing she had been lost in thought and forgotten he was there. She patted her chest nervously:

“Scared me! I was just watching TV… got too absorbed.”

She handed him her phone—she was in the middle of a drama—and kept her financial worries to herself.

Si Ruohan glanced at the screen and playfully flicked her nose:

“You looked so worried just now, I thought something serious had happened.”

“I’m doing nothing but eating and sleeping. How could anything serious happen?”

Si Ruohan laughed:

“Eating and sleeping—sounds like a pig!”

Pei Xi’s eyes narrowed instantly. She jumped onto him and playfully grabbed his neck:

“What did you say? Me, a pig? Do you know how beautiful I am? You get one chance to rephrase.”

She didn’t hurt him, and he played along, protecting her belly.

“Okay, okay! I was wrong. How could you be a pig? You’re a little fairy! A beautiful little fairy.”

Satisfied, Pei Xi got off him and reached for her phone. But Si Ruohan’s strong arms held her tight. She pushed gently:

“Let go, I want to watch TV!”

He hugged her closer, inhaling her scent, feeling content:

“Don’t move. I want to hold you. Thinking about being away for days tomorrow… I’ll miss you.”

Pei Xi, curious, pushed him slightly:

“What’s up? Are you leaving home for a while?”

Si Ruohan’s warm breath brushed her neck, making her shiver slightly.

“Yes. Tomorrow afternoon, I have a business trip. Probably a week, maybe longer.”

He kissed her neck again and again. Pei Xi froze; since their marriage, this was the first time he would be away. She realized she was a little reluctant to let him go.

“Really? That long?”

He kissed her lips gently, until she could barely breathe, then pulled back, whispering in her ear:

“Xiao Xi… are you reluctant to let me go?”

Pei Xi admitted it, hugging his neck tightly:

“Yes! I’m used to having you by my side. If you leave that long, of course I’ll miss you. But your work is important—finish it quickly and come back soon.”

Si Ruohan nodded:

“After finishing, I’ll rush back. Xiao Xi, while I’m away, do you want to stay at the old mansion? I’m worried being alone here.”

Pei Xi shook her head:

“No, I’ll stay here and wait for you. Besides, I’m not alone—Aunt Liu and the two other maids are here to take care of me!”

She kissed him gently:

“Don’t worry. I’ll take good care of myself. I won’t let myself suffer. You, the baby’s dad, just focus on working hard. The baby and I will wait for you.”

Si Ruohan smiled—he liked being called “baby’s dad.”

“You’ll also have a prenatal check-up soon. If I can’t make it back, I’ll have Mom go with you.”

He felt regretful; the baby was three months now, fully formed. He wanted to be close with his wife, but duty called—he had to leave.

Pei Xi, reluctant, clung to him, whining softly.

“You better not flirt or be alone with any other woman. Think of us always, okay?”

Si Ruohan chuckled, his hand wandering up her waist, stopping where he most liked, feeling her soft skin, desire rising in his eyes.

He whispered in her ear:

“Xiao Xi… want to keep me satisfied so I won’t be distracted by others?”

Pei Xi shivered, barely opening her mouth before he sealed it with his lips. Knowing he would be gone, she tried to match his mood, holding his neck, breathing in sync.

His excitement surged—he wanted to enjoy every moment before leaving.

The next morning, Si Ruohan packed while Pei Xi lay in bed, exhausted, without energy. He looked satisfied, packing everything himself.

Pei Xi felt it was unfair—he did the work, but she bore the tiredness.

“Husband, do you need help packing? I feel bad not helping.”

He glanced at her, gesturing for her to drink the milk beside her.

“Drink the milk and eat—helping me already.”

The milk and food had been brought up to her by him earlier, worried she might be hungry.

Pei Xi hadn’t changed clothes yet; her neck was still marked with his kisses. Under her clothes, there wasn’t a single spot untouched either.

After saying goodbye at the door, she returned to bed once his car drove away, yawning and ready for more sleep.
