Pei Xi woke up early to find that Si Ruohan had already gone to work.

It seemed she had overslept again. The sun was shining brightly outside the window; it was another beautiful day!

Pei Xi stretched and noticed something extra on her hand.Full novel: What Should I Do If I Have the Second Male Lead’s Child? — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Looking at the ring, she was puzzled:

“When did he put this ring on me? He didn’t give it to me while I was awake yesterday, but gave it to me while I was asleep. What kind of man is this?!”

He must have given it to her last night; she should have been overjoyed!

Pei Xi examined the ring and thought it looked quite good on her, and the size was perfect.

It was a simple yet stylish ring with a unique charm. The slender silver band had clean, flowing lines, without excessive embellishment, yet it exuded a pure and elegant beauty.

A heart-shaped pink diamond was set on the ring, sparkling brightly and sharply in the light, like the brightest star in the night sky, exquisite in its simplicity.

This is a ring that’s perfect for wearing in public; there’s no need to worry about attracting attention, and Pei Xi hates having people stare at her.

It’s just the right size—stylish and petite—making her fingers look beautiful and matching her outfits well.

But when did Si Ruohan take her size?

She had no recollection of it.

When Pei Xi took the ring off to examine it, she noticed it was engraved with ”

SRH  &PX.”

Wasn’t that their initials?

Pei Xi wanted to call Si Ruohan immediately to ask what was going on, but worried he might be in a meeting, so she just sent him a message.

Unexpectedly, after seeing the message, Si Ruohan immediately video-called Pei Xi. Seeing that Pei Xi was still in bed in the video background, Si Ruohan smiled and asked,

“Just woke up? Did you just see the ring?”

Pei Xi pouted,

“Yes, it startled me! When did you prepare this?”

With their relationship, did they really need to wear rings?

Si Ruohan: “It’s been a while. I didn’t tell you beforehand because I wanted to surprise you. How is it? Do you like it? Or would you like a bigger diamond?” It’s

not like Si Ruohan can’t afford a bigger diamond, but he felt Pei Xi would prefer something more delicate.

However, he had also ordered another diamond ring with a larger diamond, which was still being made. She could choose not to wear it, but she couldn’t be without it.

Besides the ring, Si Ruohan had also ordered earrings, a necklace, and a bracelet—all matching sets, all custom-made, and would be finished in a while.

Si Ruohan raised his right hand for Pei Xi to see:

“Look, I have some here too. There are some more pieces of jewelry coming up; I’ll send them to you when they’re finished.”

He was preparing in advance, just in case they came in handy.

Pei Xi felt it wasn’t necessary. Their public relationship was that of boyfriend and girlfriend; if he wore rings, wouldn’t that be telling everyone they were married?

Oh well, since Si Ruohan wanted to wear it, let him be. It wouldn’t be bad to shield him from some unwanted attention.

“How did you know my finger size? When did you measure it? How come I didn’t know? Did you measure it secretly?”

Si Ruohan gave Pei Xi a meaningful look.

“After you fell asleep from exhaustion!”

Sigh! They hadn’t actually gone all the way, but Pei Xi was pregnant and easily tired, not having the energy to play around with him.

So, sometimes, when Pei Xi was asleep, he was still wide awake, and when they intertwined their fingers, he realized he was missing a ring.

They were already married; how could they be without a wedding ring? Therefore, he secretly prepared this, wanting to surprise Pei Xi.

Pei Xi immediately knew when he was referring to this, and rolled her eyes at him, annoyed.

“Alright, I know. You go to work! I won’t bother you anymore. We’ll talk when you get back tonight.”

Si Ruohan nodded: “Okay, then get up and eat something quickly, so the baby won’t bother you again.”

Before Pei Xi hung up, Si Ruohan asked if Pei Xi would like to come to the company.

Pei Xi: “No, I just went last week, and I don’t want to go anywhere else lately.”

Everyone else is working, how could she possibly have the nerve to hang out there? It would be such a bad influence!

After finishing her call with Si Ruohan, Pei Xi planned to change clothes and go downstairs to get something to eat.

Looking at herself in the mirror, Pei Xi realized she’d been resting well lately; her skin was fair and radiant, and her stomach was still flat. She figured she wouldn’t need to change into maternity clothes anytime soon. If

she went out now, who would know she was pregnant?

After finishing the breakfast Liu Ma had carefully prepared, Pei Xi thought of her best friend back here. She hadn’t contacted her in a long time since their last phone call, and she wondered how things were going with Peng Jiao, whether her family had accepted them.

Pei Xi tried sending Peng Jiao a message, and soon received a reply.

Pei Xi was overjoyed. Had this girl already been forgiven by her family? Had she been released?

Thinking this, Pei Xi asked herself the same question.

Peng Jiao immediately called to invite Pei Xi to lunch.

She had so much to say to Pei Xi, so much she wanted to tell her. Even if Pei Xi didn’t text her, she still wanted to text her; it seemed they were on the same wavelength.

Pei Xi had plenty of time now, so of course she readily agreed. It was still early, so she told Aunt Liu a few things, telling her not to cook lunch for her, as she had plans to meet a friend.

Last time, after Pei Xi drove for Si Ruohan, Si Ruohan, seeing that Pei Xi hadn’t forgotten her driving lessons, gave her a car.

It wasn’t very expensive, and Pei Xi even chose the color herself—classic white—just worried that the color wouldn’t be conspicuous and she might get hit on the road.

Si Ruohan let her have her way; as long as she was willing to accept it, it was fine. She could change it later once she got used to it.

Pei Xi was now driving her car to meet Peng Jiao.

It wasn’t rush hour, so Pei Xi arrived at the restaurant where she and Peng Jiao had arranged to meet without any problems.

Peng Jiao was waiting for Pei Xi at the door when she was shocked to find that Pei Xi had driven up in her own car.

She knew Pei Xi’s situation all too well; it hadn’t been that long since she’d seen her, and she could already afford a car?

That car must cost at least several hundred thousand! Had she struck it rich recently? Or won the lottery?

Peng Jiao thought it was more likely Pei Xi had won the lottery; otherwise, how could she suddenly have so much money?

Pei Xi approached Peng Jiao, who blurted out,

“Sister? Did you win the lottery? How much? Why are you so silly, buying such an expensive car? Save some money for a house!”

Peng Jiao was exasperated; they were still renting! They should buy a house first.

Although this amount of money wouldn’t buy a very nice house in Beijing, a small, average one would still be fine. Even if it was far away, at least they’d have a place to call home!
