After shopping, Mrs. Si didn’t want to go home yet. She asked Aunt Liu and the driver to load the things into the car, as she wanted to take Pei Xi shopping a little longer. ”

Xiao Xi, let’s shop a little longer and buy you a few more comfortable shoes. Don’t you like taking walks? You should buy more pairs. Oh, right, and bags too. Let’s see if there are any new bags so you can pick a few to match your outfits.”

Since she’d be alone at home anyway, she figured it was better to shop around some more! Mrs. Si thought, maybe she should move in with her daughter-in-law. Her son wasn’t home, and she was worried about her daughter-in-law being alone.Full novel: What Should I Do If I Have the Second Male Lead’s Child? — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

However, her husband didn’t know her thoughts yet; she’d discuss it with him when she got home that night.

Pei Xi had quite a lot of clothes, shoes, and bags in her walk-in closet. She didn’t go out much these days, so she didn’t really need them much.

Enough was enough. Sometimes, seeing so many clothes in her closet that she couldn’t wear them all, Pei Xi felt a little troubled!

“Mom, we have plenty of these things at home, so I don’t need them for now. Why don’t you go and pick some out? Most of these are my things today, so you should buy some too!”

Mrs. Si didn’t refuse. Since they were going to shop anyway, what difference did it make who bought something? If she saw something she liked, she would naturally buy it too

. “Then let’s take our time browsing. You can buy what you like, and I can buy what I like.”

And so, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law strolled along, stopping at shops that interested them for a while.

Passing a lingerie store, Mrs. Si pulled Pei Xi inside.

“Xiao Xi, I forgot to get you some underwear. The things here look quite pretty, let’s go in and take a look.”

Mrs. Si wasn’t referring to postpartum underwear, but rather the ones she was wearing now. With her belly getting bigger, her current underwear wasn’t as comfortable. It was time to switch to special underwear.

Pei Xi also felt her chest was a bit tight. She had already changed once, and now it was tight again; she wanted something more comfortable.

In department store lingerie counters, trained sales staff usually proactively ask if you need your bust size measured. The staff will recommend suitable cup and band sizes based on the measurements, and offer suggestions considering your breast shape and wearing habits.

Pei Xi also wanted to choose something suitable, so she followed the sales staff into the fitting room. The sales staff had measured many female customers, but she felt this young lady had the best figure.

The sales staff thought to herself, “This customer’s boyfriend is so lucky!”

The lingerie here was very pretty, and Pei Xi selected several sets she liked. She saw that her mother-in-law had also chosen her items and was placing them on the counter, waiting for her to pay together.

“Mom, I’ll pay. You already paid, so let me pay this time.”

Her mother-in-law thought for a moment and agreed.

“Okay, but you can’t use your own card; use the card A-Han gave you. A husband earns money for his wife to spend; why not spend it?”

Pei Xi agreed wholeheartedly. If she didn’t spend it, would she spend it on other women later?

Just as Pei Xi swiped her card, Si Ruohan received a text message.

Looking at the store name, Si Ruohan thought for a moment; it seemed to sell underwear.

What color of clothes had Xi Xi changed into this time?

Si’s mother had just picked out pajamas, but not for herself, but for Pei Xi. Those pajamas were so beautiful, but the fabric was pitifully thin.

Her son was so old to finally find a wife; she wanted Pei Xi to hold onto his heart tightly, lest she later think of that bean sprout again.

Thinking of her beautiful daughter-in-law, with her great figure, and now that the baby was stable, they could finally have some marital relations, she urged Pei Xi to work hard and capture her son’s heart.

“Xiao Xi, these are all pajamas Mom picked out for you. The fabric is very soft, and they’ll be very comfortable to sleep in. You’re carrying two people now, so sleep is very important. Remember to wear them!”

Pei Xi looked at Si’s mother in surprise.

“Oh, Mom, are all these for me? That’s too much! How am I supposed to wear them all? Why don’t you take a couple home?”

Mrs. Si refused.

“No, no, we’re not the same size. I picked these out especially for you, you can’t refuse.”

Pei Xi opened her mouth, wondering if pajamas even came in different sizes? Their figures were practically the same, so why couldn’t she wear them? But since it was Mrs. Si’s kindness, Pei Xi had no choice but to accept.

Aside from the headmistress, this was the first time Pei Xi had directly felt the kindness of an elder. Although Pei Xi didn’t like being adopted, she actually longed for family affection deep down.

Mrs. Si gave Pei Xi a feeling of maternal love. After their last meeting, besides the initial gift, Mrs. Si frequently sent things over and had the housekeeper cook her delicious soups. This time, she bought her clothes again, making Pei Xi realize what it felt like to have a mother!

She could genuinely feel that Mrs. Si was truly good to her.

These things weren’t heavy at all, but Mrs. Si still wouldn’t let Pei Xi carry them. Pei Xi felt very touched by Mrs. Si’s concern and couldn’t help but hug her arm.

“Mom, you’re so good, you’re the best mom in the world!”

Mrs. Si knew Pei Xi’s upbringing and felt sorry for her.

She had even complained to Mr. Si, thinking that Pei Xi’s parents were truly awful. Throwing such a good child to an orphanage, their own flesh and blood, just so easily abandoned, their conscience was gone.

But now that Pei Xi had come to their Si family and become part of their family, they would take good care of her from now on.

Mrs. Si smiled broadly:

“We’re family, isn’t it only right that I treat you well? It’s almost noon, how about we eat lunch outside?”

“Okay, okay, Mom, is there anything you want to eat?”

Mrs. Si shook her head; there were so many restaurants, she really couldn’t choose right away.

“Do you have any suggestions?”

Pei Xi thought for a moment, remembering a place Si Ruohan had taken her to before.

“Last time, Ahan took me to a dinner with his friends, and he said it was Ji Huaiyu’s hotel, and the food there was really good. How about we go there to eat?”

Hearing Pei Xi’s suggestion, Si’s mother knew where she was talking about; she had been there before.

“Okay, let’s go there then.”

Since they had decided to eat there, the two of them stopped shopping, called the driver, and headed to the restaurant.

Because the driver and Aunt Liu were also with them, Si’s mother was seated at two separate tables. If she sat with them, Aunt Liu and the driver would definitely feel uncomfortable.

Si’s mother and Pei Xi didn’t book a private room; they sat in a booth by the window, which offered good privacy and a view of the scenery outside.

After ordering, Pei Xi remembered her father-in-law.

“Mom, aren’t you coming home for lunch? Dad won’t be upset, will he?”

Hearing from Si Ruohan that his parents had a good relationship, she wondered if it was inappropriate for her to bring her mother-in-law along, leaving her father-in-law alone at home.

Si’s mother didn’t seem to mind:

“It’s alright. Your dad has something to do today and isn’t home yet. We don’t even know if he’ll be back on time tonight

.” Pei Xi breathed a sigh of relief, thankful they hadn’t separated them

. Pei Xi was actually a hidden foodie; she l  oved anything delicious.

When the steamed fish Pei Xi ordered arrived, Si’s mother said,

“The seafood at this hotel is all so fresh. I heard it’s unloaded directly from the dock and transported back. It’s so fresh and authentic, much better than those seafood restaurants outside. This kind of fish has few bones and is very nutritious, so eat more!”

Pei Xi didn’t usually experience much morning sickness, and now that her baby was three months along, her appetite had increased dramatically. She would eat anything she could get her hands on.

Seeing that her mother was serving her food, Pei Xi quickly said,

“Mom, you eat too, I can do it myself.”

There were only the two of them, so they could eat slowly and didn’t need to take care of each other.
