Pei Xi nestled on the sofa in Si Ruohan’s office, checking her bank account balance.

Looking at the large sum, glancing at the black card in her hand, and thinking about the property she’d just signed for, Pei Xi felt like she’d suddenly become rich overnight after getting married.

Being rich now, not having to worry about paying rent anymore, was quite an interesting feeling.Full novel: What Should I Do If I Have the Second Male Lead’s Child? — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Sometimes she couldn’t help but worry for Si Ruohan. What if she really was one of those con artists who had deceived him? Wouldn’t he lose both his money and his woman?

He hadn’t even properly investigated her before being so generous to her; he was really bold.

Fortunately, she didn’t have the guts. She genuinely couldn’t afford to raise a child, which was why she came to him. But she truly hadn’t expected Si Ruohan to be willing to marry her, and Pei Xi certainly didn’t want her child to be illegitimate.

She wondered if their relationship would change in the future. For now, Pei Xi treated this as a job, at least the return on investment was high.

Even if she couldn’t win custody of the child, with money, she could live closer to the child. As the child’s mother, she should have visitation rights, right?

Anyway, she couldn’t win against Si Ruohan in a divorce; he was wealthy and powerful, what could she possibly use to compete?

While Pei Xi was lost in thought, the office door opened, and the crisp sound of high heels entered.

Pei Xi looked up and saw a girl in a white dress. Pei Xi was slightly puzzled; she hadn’t noticed her outside. Was this an employee of Si Ruohan’s company?

The girl in the white dress assumed Si Ruohan was in the office. Seeing Pei Xi there, she frowned and asked,

“Who are you? Why are you here?”

Before Pei Xi could answer, the sound of running footsteps came from outside, and a male secretary rushed in.

Seeing that nothing had happened between the two in the office, and Pei Xi was unharmed, the male secretary breathed a sigh of relief.

The male secretary exclaimed, “I was terrified! He was focused on his work when he looked up and saw Miss Guan push open the CEO’s office door! He jumped up from his seat in a panic.

The CEO had instructed them to take good care of Madam Guan while he was in a meeting.

If Madam Guan was bullied by Miss Guan, wouldn’t he be in deep trouble later?

The secretary nodded to Pei Xi, then turned and smiled at the girl in the white dress, introducing her:

“Miss Guan, hello. Our CEO is in a meeting and isn’t here right now. If you need to see him, you can come back later.”

The girl in the white dress pointed at Pei Xi and asked,

“And her? Why is she waiting here?”

The secretary smiled,

“Oh, this is our CEO’s wife. Our CEO brought her personally, so of course she can wait here.”

Not only can she wait here, but she can also walk around the entire building freely!

The secretary’s smile was laced with malice.

The last time this lady came with CEO Song, the CEO wasn’t there either, and he was tasked with entertaining her.

This girl, on the other hand, bossed him around, making him run around several times to buy her the coffee she wanted, exhausting him half to death, acting like she was the president’s girlfriend, treating th  em like servants.

Now look what happened, you’ve been fooled! The real deal is right here, she’s the real president’s wife! The president himself admitted it, see if she doesn’t infuriate you.

Sure enough, the girl, with a cold face, pointed at Pei Xi:

“What did you say? She’s your president’s wife? Your president said it himself?”

The male secretary nodded.

“Yes, our president introduced her to us personally.”

The president said it himself, how could it be false?

Miss Guan shook her head, her face full of disbelief:

“How is this possible? When did Brother Ruohan get married? How come I didn’t know? You must be lying to me, I’m going to wait here for Brother Ruohan, I want to hear him say it myself.”

Miss Guan still refused to believe it, Si Ruohan had a wife, how come she hadn’t heard a thing?

No, she had to call and tell the others.

Pei Xi hadn’t said a word since the young lady entered, but seeing her sitting on the sofa and refusing to leave, she didn’t want to stay any longer either, so she followed the male secretary outside.

Miss Guan seemed quite unruly, and Pei Xi didn’t want to risk offending her. She was feeling bored anyway and wanted some fresh air.

The male secretary was very attentive, even taking Pei Xi to their company’s break room, pouring her a glass of juice, and bringing out some snacks for her—his service was impeccable.

As for Miss Guan in the office, the male secretary chose to ignore her; since she was so angry, she probably couldn’t eat anything.

When Si Ruohan came out of his meeting, the male secretary quickly came over.

“President, Miss Guan is here, she’s in your office now.”

Si Ruohan stopped.

“And Madam? Is she in there too?”

the male secretary asked, seeking praise.

“No, no, Madam is resting in the break room, not in her office.”

Si Ruohan was satisfied; he had just thought Pei Xi had been bullied!

“Okay, thank you for your hard work. I’ll send you a red envelope later.”

The male secretary was delighted and hurriedly said, “Oh, thank you so much, President.”

The break room in Si Ruohan’s company wasn’t small, especially since it was the president’s office break room. The facilities there looked expensive, and the sofa was incredibly soft.

Pei Xi found a TV series to watch while snacking, completely at ease.

Seeing her still smiling, Si Ruohan felt relieved; at least she hadn’t been wronged.

Why did Guan Xinyue have to come at this particular time? What’s she doing here?

Pei Xi felt someone standing in front of her and looked up to see Si Ruohan.

“You’ve finished your meeting?”

Si Ruohan saw that Pei Xi had gotten up too quickly and quickly went to help her.

“Yes, have I been waiting long?”

Pei Xi shook her head and told him about what had happened in his office.

“That lady is still waiting in your office! You should go and see her! She might have something urgent to discuss with you.”

Si Ruohan saw that it was almost lunchtime and took Pei Xi to his office.

Guan Xinyue already knew that Si Ruohan had finished his meeting, and she thought he would go straight to his office! But she didn’t expect him to go to see that woman first.

“Brother Ruohan.”

Si Ruohan nodded as a greeting.

Guan Xinyue looked at Pei Xi, who was following Si Ruohan, and asked,

“Brother Ruohan, your secretary said this is your wife, is that true? When did you get a girlfriend? How come we didn’t know? Do your aunt and uncle know?”

Si Ruohan glanced at her:

“You know now, don’t you?”

Guan Xinyue was speechless:

“Uh, I just feel it’s too sudden, isn’t it? We, your friends, didn’t hear a word about you having a girlfriend. You’re really good at keeping secrets.”

Pei Xi stood to the side, saying nothing. She still didn’t know what the relationship between the two was. Could she be Si Ruohan’s suitor?

Si Ruohan introduced,

“Come on, let me introduce you. This is my girlfriend, Pei Xi. I’ll organize a gathering to introduce her to you all later.”

Then he turned to Pei Xi and said,

“Xi Xi, this is Guan Xinyue, the daughter of a family that’s been friends for generations. We grew up together. Besides her, there are a few other friends. I’ll introduce them to you when I have time.”

Guan Xinyue looked at Pei Xi,

“Brother Ruohan, no need to wait until later, let’s do it tonight! I just told Brother Shao Jin and the others, and they’re very interested.”

Si Ruohan felt he had to tell everyone sooner or later, so he nodded,

“Okay, then you guys choose a place, we’ll be there on time tonight. Did you come to see me today for something?”

Guan Xinyue: She did have something to do, but nothing was as important as Si Ruohan having a girlfriend.

“No, I just happened to be passing by and stopped by to see you. Since you have something to do, I’ll be going now. See you tonight.”

After Guan Xinyue left, Pei Xi watched Si Ruohan close the door and quietly leaned over to ask.

“Does this Miss Guan like you?”

When Miss Guan came in and saw her, she looked like she’d caught her cheating, her face very unpleasant.

Si Ruohan retorted,

“How could that be? She has someone she likes, don’t talk nonsense.”

Then, Si Ruohan told Pei Xi about all his friends, explaining that he would be meeting them that evening, so Pei Xi could get to know them better and be mentally prepared.

Besides Miss Guan Xinyue, Si Ruohan had three other childhood friends.

One was Song Shaojin from the Song family, one was Bai Minglang from the Bai family, and the other was Ji Huaiyu from the Ji family. Only Guan Xinyue was a girl.

The four of them had played together since kindergarten until they went to different universities. Ji Huaiyu went to a military academy, while the other four went to Tsinghua University. As

Pei Xi listened, the names sounded familiar.

It was as if she’d heard them somewhere before, but she couldn’t quite place them. It certainly wasn’t in school, and her school was different from theirs.

Before she could even think of it, Si Ruohan was already planning to take Pei Xi out for lunch.

“Let’s go, it’s lunchtime. I’ve booked a private restaurant, I’ll take you there to try it.”

Hearing that there was something delicious to eat, Pei Xi could only temporarily put aside her doubts.
