The Solven Family
White Crane City, Solven Family Estate.
Inside a luxurious study, a young woman in blue robes stood respectfully before a middle-aged woman.
The middle-aged woman sat behind a large wooden desk, calmly reading a report.
Her expression gradually became colder.
"Say that again."
The young woman swallowed nervously.
"The assassins sent by Young Master to the northern district have all failed."
"Failed?"
The middle-aged woman slowly raised her head.
"How many survived?"
The young woman lowered her head.
"None."
Silence filled the room.
The middle-aged woman’s fingers slowly tightened around the report.
"Who did it?"
The young woman hesitated.
"According to the information we received, all of them were defeated by a single person."
The middle-aged woman’s eyes narrowed.
"Who?"
"A young male cultivator."
"His name is Raeshan."
The room became silent again.
The middle-aged woman frowned.
"A male?"
"Yes."
The young woman nodded.
"According to the witnesses, he is a Spirit Core Realm cultivator."
The middle-aged woman’s expression changed slightly.
"Spirit Core Realm?"
"Yes. He defeated several Foundation Building cultivators almost instantly."
She slowly placed the report on the table.
"Where did this Raeshan come from?"
"We don’t know. There is no record of him entering White Crane City before yesterday."
The middle-aged woman fell silent.
A mysterious male Spirit Core Realm cultivator suddenly appearing in White Crane City was not something she could ignore.
Especially when that cultivator had already become involved with her family.
Her eyes became cold.
"Where is Kalen?"
The young woman immediately replied.
"Young Master Kalen is currently in his residence."
"Bring him here."
"Immediately."
"Yes, Matriarch."
The young woman turned around and hurried out of the room.
The middle-aged woman remained seated. Her gaze fell upon the report once again.
A Spirit Core Realm cultivator.
And according to the information from their people, he was traveling with a young female disciple who was only at the Eighth Stage of Qi Refining.
A male cultivator of that strength would not appear without a background.
The middle-aged woman slowly narrowed her eyes.
"What exactly has my foolish son offended?"
A few minutes later.
The doors of the study opened.
Kalen Solven walked inside.
He wore luxurious blue robes and carried the same folding fan he had used at the Cloud Crane Inn.
His expression was slightly impatient.
"Mother, you called for me?"
The middle-aged woman looked at him coldly.
"Did you send people to kill someone?"
Kalen’s expression changed.
For a brief moment, panic flashed through his eyes, but he quickly concealed it.
"I don’t know what you’re talking about."
The middle-aged woman’s gaze became colder.
"Don’t lie to me."
Kalen swallowed.
"Mother..."
"Who did you send?"
Kalen remained silent.
The middle-aged woman slammed her palm against the table.
Bang!
The entire room shook.
"Answer me!"
Kalen’s face became pale. He finally lowered his head.
"Raeshan."
The middle-aged woman closed her eyes for a moment.
"So it was you."
Kalen hurriedly explained.
"He offended me at the inn."
"I only wanted to teach him a lesson."
"A lesson?"
The middle-aged woman laughed coldly.
"You sent a group of Foundation Building cultivators to kill a Spirit Core Realm expert."
Kalen’s expression froze.
"Spirit Core Realm?"
His face gradually turned pale.
"That’s impossible."
"He was only a Late Foundation Building cultivator."
"That’s what the assassins told you?"
Kalen didn’t answer.
The middle-aged woman stared at him.
"Do you understand what you’ve done?"
Kalen’s lips trembled.
"I..."
"You nearly dragged the entire Solven Family into a conflict with a Spirit Core Realm cultivator."
Kalen lowered his head.
"I’m sorry."
The middle-aged woman took a deep breath.
"You’re forbidden from leaving the family estate."
Kalen immediately looked up.
"Mother!"
"Three months."
"During that time, you will remain inside the estate and reflect on your actions."
"But..."
"No buts."
Her voice became cold.
"If you had successfully killed him, the Rennor Family might have investigated us."
"But because you failed..."
She paused.
"Now we have attracted the attention of the Rennor Family and a mysterious Spirit Core Realm cultivator."
Kalen clenched his fists.
His eyes were filled with unwillingness.
"Mother..."
"Enough."
She waved her hand.
"Leave."
Kalen could only bow his head.
"Yes, Mother."
He turned around and walked out.
The Solven Family Matriarch became anxious.
Those assassins were, in truth, disciples of the Blood Moon Palace. Now, how could she explain the deaths of so many of their disciples?
She slowly rubbed her temples.
"I should have given birth to a daughter. It would have been much easier. Now I have to clean up my foolish son’s mess."
She sighed.
"I hope the Rennor Family doesn’t uncover their identities."
The moment he left the study, his expression became twisted.
He had never expected that Raeshan would actually be a Spirit Core Realm cultivator.
His humiliation at the Cloud Crane Inn suddenly returned to his mind.
His grip tightened around his folding fan.
"Raeshan..."
A trace of hatred flashed through his eyes.
"I won’t forget this."
Meanwhile, at the Cloud Crane Inn.
Raeshan opened the door to his room.
Scarlet followed him inside.
She was still holding the Green Jade Healing Herb that Elara had given her.
Raeshan glanced at her injuries.
"Sit down."
Scarlet obediently sat on the bed.
Raeshan looked at the Green Jade Healing Herb in her hand.
"Don’t use this healing herb right now. It’s precious, so save it for the future."
Raeshan took out several medicinal pills from his storage ring.
"Take these."
Scarlet accepted them.
"Thank you, Master."
Raeshan nodded.
"Recover tonight."
Scarlet looked at him.
"Master."
"Hm?"
"About what happened tonight..."
She hesitated.
"Was it dangerous?"
Raeshan thought for a moment.
"No."
Scarlet blinked.
"No?"
Raeshan shook his head.
"They were too weak."
Scarlet’s lips twitched.
She suddenly remembered the overwhelming pressure Raeshan had released. Those Foundation Building cultivators hadn’t even been able to stand.
She quietly nodded.
"That’s true."
Raeshan walked toward the window. The night sky of White Crane City stretched before him. Countless lanterns illuminated the distant streets.
But his expression became thoughtful.
The masked cultivators.
The disappearances.
The Rennor Family and now the Solven Family.
He had only come to White Crane City to travel. Yet trouble seemed to have found him anyway.
Is it because I’m traveling with a Daughter of Heaven? Problems always seem to find the Chosen One.
Raeshan sighed.
"Looks like this trip won’t be boring."
Scarlet looked at him.
"Master?"
Raeshan smiled.
"Nothing."
"Just get some rest."
"Tomorrow, we’ll continue exploring the city."
Scarlet nodded.
"Yes, Master."
Outside the window, the moon slowly climbed higher into the night sky.
Neither of them knew that tomorrow morning, an unexpected invitation from the Rennor Family would arrive at the Cloud Crane Inn.
