Winslow openly led the little white snake as he followed behind Samuel, attracting the gazes of many military females along the way.
“Hey, look, it’s His Excellency Winslow!”
“Eh? Why is His Excellency with the Marshal?”
“Where are they going?”
“I don’t know, but looking at the route, it seems like they are leaving the military district.”
“His Excellency Winslow is truly so beautiful! It is another day of wishing to be his female insect.”
“Every time I see His Excellency, I feel like I am filled with energy!”
The surrounding military females discussed them in what they thought were low whispers, but their voices were easily captured by Winslow and Samuel, who both possessed excellent senses.
Having stayed here for several months, Winslow had clearly grown accustomed to the Zerg tradition of spontaneous confessions of love. When he performed mental grooming, such voices were present almost every day. If they were not blushing and stuttering in front of him, the words “I like His Excellency so much” or “I want to bear His Excellency’s insect eggs” would be drifting through their spiritual seas.
Thus, Winslow had evolved from his initial state of face-palming and freezing up to being able to face it with total nonchalance. He could even listen to the confession of the next military female while expressionlessly pressing the electric shock button to wake the previous one, who had fallen into a deep sleep after the grooming session. He transitioned seamlessly amidst the sounds of praise and confession.
Samuel said nothing, simply walking forward in silence. After a few steps, he intentionally stopped and turned sideways toward Winslow, signaling with his eyes for Winslow to walk side-by-side with him.
In this manner, the man and the insect arrived at the hangar where the border military district stored its aircraft. The tightly locked mechanical rolling door was slowly opened under Samuel’s control, revealing a cool, black-and-red mecha to Winslow.
Winslow marveled slightly in his heart; this mecha was truly impressive and domineering. At first glance, the matte black surface of the mecha appeared extremely low-key, but upon closer inspection, the sides were covered with crimson flame patterns. A faint, flowing light passed over them, exuding a sense of understated luxury. These flame patterns would likely be even more eye-catching and brilliant under the sun.
Under the control of Samuel’s spiritual power, a side of the fuselage slowly opened. Seeing this, Winslow stepped inside and found a sofa to sit on. The interior was also designed with understated luxury, featuring uniform dark furniture and mecha walls.
Samuel followed closely behind. After seeing that Winslow was seated steadily, he turned his back to Winslow and performed a few casual operations at the main console. Once started, the high-end black-and-red mecha automatically headed toward the preset destination.
“His Excellency Winslow is very popular,” Samuel remarked pointedly.
Upon hearing this, Winslow assumed he was referring to the military females whispering their confessions on the road. Winslow had grown up in a simple environment where people spoke directly, with the exception of that weak little Guide who seemed unable to care for himself. Therefore, Samuel’s remark left him momentarily unsure of how to respond.
However, Samuel seemed to be just mentioning it in passing and did not expect an answer. A small pattering sound of flowing liquid rang out, and Winslow looked up, drawn by the noise. A cup of warm, mellow, and fragrant tea appeared before him, served by Samuel’s hand. Winslow took it and took a sip; the flavor lingered between his teeth. It was a type of tea leaf he had never seen at the White Tower.
The man and the insect continued to sit opposite each other in silence. The speed of a mecha was naturally fast, and this black-and-red mecha, bolstered by Samuel’s SSS-grade spiritual power, could rival lightning at its peak. Although he did not actively apply his spiritual power this time, it was still very fast. They reached their destination in just a few minutes.
Winslow followed Samuel off the seemingly low-key but actually high-luxury mecha. Both of them possessed top-tier looks, instantly attracting the few pedestrians on the street. Both were clearly used to such gazes; they calmly walked off the mecha and into the restaurant.
But not all insects were as calm as they were. For instance, right now, a flamboyantly dressed female insect appeared before Winslow and Samuel, staring at Winslow with eyes full of stunned obsession.
There were a very small number of male insects on the border planets, but because the location was so remote, they were almost all low-level males with very little spiritual power. Naturally, they could not compare to Winslow’s exquisite features.
The female insect blocking their path cleared his throat, preparing to strike up a conversation. The other surrounding females looked on enviously at this insect who had taken the initiative to get close to such a beautiful male. However, they did not dare step forward because their status and rank were not as high as his.
This female insect was the only son of an extremely wealthy family on the border planet. With a rich background and a B-rank, which was a rarity on a border planet, no one was going to look for trouble by competing with him.
However, this female insect did not succeed in starting a conversation. His line of sight was blocked by Samuel, who took a step forward. Because they happened to be in a corner of the restaurant, Samuel’s tall frame completely shielded Winslow from the approaching female and the surrounding gazes.
Only then did the surrounding insects, including the one attempting to flirt, finally take proper notice of Marshal Samuel standing beside Winslow. Actually, they had noticed him at first, but the charm of a female insect could not compare to that of a male. Since they were not female-sexual, they were naturally more focused on the exquisite and rare male.
The flirting female insect naturally sensed the powerful aura and the clearly unfriendly behavior of the female before him, but he did not care. Ultimately, in Zerg families, the male insect is the master, and they can possess many females.
Therefore, while he was indifferent, he was even a bit disdainful. Although this female insect appeared to be of a high rank, he was far too prone to jealousy. Such a jealous female would not be favored by a male lord. If he became this male’s female, he would not be so stingy; he would even find more handsome and strong females for his male lord!
A certain Marshal had no idea that in the eyes of the insect before him, he had been categorized as a jealous and envious insect. When Samuel came out, he had changed out of his conspicuous military uniform and used his spiritual power to disguise his appearance, which is why no one recognized their great Marshal.
The flirting female insect criticized Marshal Samuel in his heart, then stubbornly changed direction, catching sight of the male’s face that made him linger in awe once more. For a moment, he forgot the pick-up lines he had practiced so well in his head and could only stammer out, “You, hello.”
Winslow’s eyes remained calm and indifferent, but he still nodded politely. The female insect took a few deep breaths, and just as he was preparing to find other words to invite this rare male to eat together, the little white snake lying bored on Winslow’s shoulder had had enough.
It shook its head angrily, but it knew the female insect before it could not see it, so it had no way to threaten or intimidate him. Its red eyes swiveled, landing on Samuel, who was standing there like a wooden stake. With a surge of force, the entire snake lunged toward him.
Samuel felt a shift in the air, and then a familiar sensation coiled around his neck again. Now, both Winslow and Samuel froze. Samuel looked down, Winslow looked up, and their gazes collided directly. Winslow snapped back to his senses and hurriedly tried to summon the little white snake back, but this time, the snake seemed determined and would not budge no matter how he called.
In public, Winslow could not very well reach out and tear it off, so they stayed frozen, staring at each other. Samuel sighed almost imperceptibly. Not wanting to continue being a spectacle for the crowd in the lobby, he released his spiritual power.
An overwhelming, oppressive spiritual force surged directly toward the flirting female insect. The massive gap in rank caused the B-rank female’s face to turn pale instantly and his body to go limp.
Having dealt with the roadblock, Samuel led Winslow forward, taking the elevator to the top floor of the restaurant. In the center of the first-floor lobby, that female insect no longer had any thoughts of flirting. He felt as if he had just escaped death. Once Winslow and Samuel were out of sight, his strength failed him. Pale and drenched in cold sweat, he collapsed to the ground, causing the surrounding insects to cry out in surprise.
The Garden Restaurant lived up to its name, filled with all sorts of novel and beautiful flowers arranged orderly by top-tier florist sub-females. The air was permeated with a sweet fragrance. It was a favorite dating spot for insects.
“No wonder Bunn chose this place,” Samuel thought with a mental sneer. It was indeed a suitable place for a confession.
“Achoo!” In the border military district command room, Bunn stood before the door and sneezed. He rubbed his nose carelessly and then knocked. “Colonel Chris, it is me, Bunn.”
Although Samuel had never been on a date with a male insect, he knew the general process. The handsome and tall Marshal gentlemanly pulled out a chair for the beautiful and exquisite male. Only after the male was seated did he unhurriedly return to his own seat.
There was no ordering process. The Garden Restaurant always adhered to extreme romance, so the dishes were provided by the restaurant’s selection, reflecting its mysterious and romantic nature.
Due to the Marshal’s advance notice, not long after he and Winslow sat down, dishes were brought out one after another by robot insects wearing floral wreaths. Winslow swept a glance over them; they were full of color and fragrance, looking exactly like something the little white snake would love.
As the dishes were served, the little white snake crawled down from Samuel’s neck, its red pupils staring intently at the food. Winslow felt a bit embarrassed to watch; he really did not want to admit that the little white snake before him was his spiritual body.
Samuel appeared unusually familiar with the situation. Regardless of whether the snake treated his neck as a climbing frame or its craving for food, he first took out a plate and determined what the snake favored most based on how many glances it bestowed upon the dishes.
The most favored items, receiving the most gazes, were naturally various meats. As for things like vegetable salads, the picky little snake did not even give them a look. Thus, Samuel set aside a portion of the meats, placed them on the empty plate, and pushed it toward the little white snake.
The snake was very satisfied with this insect’s tactfulness. It immediately buried its head in the food. Although this meat did not have the same fragrance as what it had smelled in the bathroom that day, it was still content.
Winslow, who had not closed the spiritual link, easily felt the snake’s satisfaction, and along with it, a deeper craving.
“A deeper craving?” Winslow temporarily suppressed this doubt and continued to watch Samuel constantly serve meat to the little white snake.
In this way, the man, the insect, and the snake quickly finished their lunch. With the little white snake there, there were not even any leftovers.
After finishing lunch, Samuel politely asked Winslow if he wanted to continue looking around. Since Winslow had already seen the general environment outside the military district on the way there, and because he was indeed quite a center of attention, he declined the idea of further wandering.
They took the mecha back to the military district. On the return journey, Winslow rested his chin on his hand and thought idly that the next time he went out, he might need a disguise.
