Chapter 5: Creepy.

Seriously Fucking Creepy!

Hearing footsteps, Saito Shuichi raised his head.

He froze when he saw the three people entering.

Their clothes were far too unusual, especially Tsunade and Shu.

Neither of them looked remotely like locals.

“You are…” Shuichi stood up in confusion.

“Were you friends of my father?” Shu ignored the question and stared toward the center of the funeral hall.

“You’re Saito Shuichi, right?

Can I take a look at your father’s body?” The entire room instantly froze.

Behind him, Tsunade’s mouth twitched.

She almost couldn’t resist kicking Shu straight in the ass.

‘Is this brat’s brain broken?!’ A family was holding a funeral, yet a complete stranger had barged in without even offering condolences and immediately asked to inspect the dead man’s corpse.

‘Isn’t that basically asking to get thrown out?!’ Sure enough, Shuichi’s mother snapped her head up and glared at Shu with bloodshot eyes.

“What did you just say?!

Who the hell are you?!

Who gave you permission to disrespect my dead husband like that?!” Several relatives helping with the funeral stopped what they were doing and turned toward the three intruders.

Their hostile expressions made it clear that one wrong word would have Shu and the others thrown straight out.

“My apologies, ma’am.

I know this request is extremely rude.” Shu’s expression didn’t change.

“But please believe me.

We aren’t here to cause trouble.

We’re investigators from the Paranormal Affairs Bureau, and we specialize in handling abnormal incidents like this.” Shu delivered the lie without even blinking.

“I’m sure you’ve already noticed that there was something very wrong with the way your husband died.” “This wasn’t an ordinary death.

Your husband was killed by an abnormal supernatural phenomenon.” Standing behind him, Tsunade listened to the brat lie through his teeth with a perfectly serious face, and another vein twitched near her eye.

‘This kid’s skin is almost as thick as Jiraiya’s.’ Still, she knew better than to expose him right now.

“What abnormal incident?!

What supernatural phenomenon?!

What nonsense are you talking about?!” Shuichi’s mother pointed furiously at the door.

“My husband died because of a sudden illness!

Our family doesn’t need scammers like you investigating anything!

You’re not welcome here.

Get out!” Several relatives immediately surrounded them, rolling up their sleeves as they prepared to shove the three outsiders toward the door.

“Wait!

Mom, calm down!” Just as things were about to spiral out of control, Shuichi finally spoke.

He quickly stepped in front of his mother, then turned and stared at Shu.

“The Paranormal Affairs Bureau?

Investigators?

You said something strange was happening…” His expression tightened.

“Do you know something about…

spirals?” Shu nodded inwardly.

‘As expected of the original male lead.’ Shuichi was practically the only person in all of Kurouzu-cho who had sensed from the very beginning that something was terribly wrong with the town.

If not for his childhood friend, Goshima Kirie, Shuichi probably could have escaped Kurouzu-cho early and survived.

“Shuichi!” His mother stared at him in disbelief, trembling with anger.

“Have you lost your mind?!

Are you so devastated by your father’s death that you’re actually believing these scammers?!” “Mom, you saw what happened to Dad!” Shuichi shot back through clenched teeth.

“There’s no way an ordinary illness could’ve done that to him!” He turned back toward Shu.

“You really want to see him?

Fine.

I agree.” “But I have to warn you.

My father’s body…

is horrifying.

Any normal person who sees it will probably have nightmares.” “No!

Absolutely not!” Shuichi’s mother completely lost control.

“I won’t let you touch my husband’s body!” She rushed forward to drive them out.

Shuichi tried to stop her, but she had already fallen into a near-hysterical state.

“What a hassle.” Shu sighed and activated his Sharingan.

His black eyes instantly turned crimson as a single black tomoe spun rapidly around each pupil.

Genjutsu: Sharingan!

Shu’s gaze met Shuichi’s mother’s eyes.

The rage in her expression vanished instantly, replaced by blank confusion.

A moment later, her body went limp and she collapsed onto the tatami beside her, looking as though she had simply fallen asleep.

“So that’s how it is.” Shu deactivated his Sharingan thoughtfully.

“Looks like genjutsu works normally in other worlds too.” Tsunade gave him an annoyed glance.

“Isn’t that obvious?

Genjutsu works by disrupting the target’s energy flow.” “Chakra itself is created by combining physical and spiritual energy.

People in this world may not be able to actively produce chakra like we can, but they still possess physical and spiritual energy.” “Disrupt either one, and genjutsu can still affect them.” Shu nodded in understanding.

At that moment, Tsunade suddenly leaned closer.

“Hey, brat.

Now that I think about it, judging by your age…

weren’t you in the same Ninja Academy class as Shizune?” Shu coughed awkwardly.

“Shizune?

Uh…

yeah.

We were in the same year.” Back then, Shizune had become Tsunade’s apprentice early on and was now fully capable of handling herself.

Meanwhile, Shu had spent more than twenty years somehow remaining a Genin.

‘Yeah…

that’s pretty damn embarrassing.’ “Ahem.

Let’s not talk about that, Tsunade-sama.” Shu hurriedly changed the subject and pointed toward the center of the funeral hall.

“We should take a look at the cursed victim first.” Tsunade knew they had more important things to deal with, so she stopped teasing him and followed Shu toward the body.

Shu reached out and pulled away the white cloth covering it.

“Hiss!” Even Tsunade, who had seen countless severed limbs and mangled bodies on battlefields, sucked in a sharp breath when she saw what was inside the basin.

“What…

What the hell is that?!” Calling it a corpse was already a stretch.

It barely even resembled something human anymore.

Inside a huge round wooden tub, Shuichi’s father’s limbs and torso had been stretched by some incomprehensible force.

His body had then been twisted around itself again and again, coiling tightly like rope.

Every bone in his body had clearly been crushed by the unnatural force.

Yet strangely, his skin hadn’t torn open anywhere.

There wasn’t even any blood.

The intact skin wrapped tightly around the distorted mass of flesh until the entire body formed one perfect…

Spiral.

But the most horrifying part was his face.

It had been stretched and twisted beyond recognition, positioned directly at the center of the human spiral.

His eyes bulged so far outward they looked ready to fall from their sockets.

Yet there wasn’t even a trace of pain left in those pupils.

Instead, what remained was a bizarre sense of satisfaction.

‘Creepy.’ ‘This is seriously fucking creepy!’ Even though Shu had known exactly what to expect, the corner of his mouth still twitched.

‘No wonder Uzumaki is famous for this kind of grotesque horror.’ …
