Hearing this, Xie Ran pulled his attention back and asked with a confused expression, “What Haotian?”
Wang Wenjing reached out and patted his shoulder. “Is that not what you said? He Ruizhe’s left face is mediocre, but his right face is breathtaking.”
“……”
Did he say that?
Wasn’t that sentence about breathtaking referring to the camera lens?
“No,” Xie Ran said. “I saw my roommate.”
Before he could even finish, Wang Wenjing twisted his words: “So your roommate is your Haotian.”
“……”
Xie Ran shook his shoulders and brushed the other person’s hand away. “Get away, I was talking about the camera lens.”
Wang Wenjing chuckled. “Alright, alright.”
“Where is your roommate anyway? How come I do not see him?”
The two of them had a good relationship and had met each other’s roommates. They even had the kind of friendship where they played games and ate meals together.
Yet there wasn’t a single familiar face in the crowd.
Xie Ran said, “Raise your head, directly in front, the most handsome one.”
Wang Wenjing actually raised his head and spotted Jiang Xu’s location in the crowd at a single glance.
The surrounding students were whispering while looking in that direction, with someone occasionally laughing out loud in excitement.
“Isn’t this Jiang Xu from the Chemistry Department, the campus hunk of Peking University?” Wang Wenjing recognized Jiang Xu’s identity immediately. The two universities were so close that it only took two bus stops to get there, and that face of his had long spread across the entire university town.
Jiang Xu was indeed holding a camera in his hand.
Xie Ran had previously shared and explained that lens to him; what was it called again? Red Fuji? Mount Fuji?
Never mind, it did not matter.
Xie Ran nodded. “Yes, it is him.”
Wang Wenjing couldn’t help gossiping: “I heard he is a wealthy young master from a prominent family, how did he end up in the same dorm as you guys?”
“It seems your school forum even rumors how many luxury cars Jiang Xu has under his name, and someone once witnessed him driving a multi-million luxury car to school for classes. Is this true or false? The rumors also say the reason he does not have a girlfriend is because he is gay.”
Xie Ran grew annoyed listening and raised a hand to interrupt: “Stop.”
“Just take the forum stuff as entertainment, I do not know if it is true or false either.”
“I am not close with Jiang Xu.”
One rumor claimed Jiang Xu was homophobic, while another claimed Jiang Xu was gay; who knows what was actually true.
Just as Jiang Xu walked closer, he happened to overhear Xie Ran’s exact words.
Not close?
Thinking of Ranran on QQ calling him big brother this and Teacher V that, was this what the other person called not close?
Setting aside the internet, in real life they were roommates, and compared to Zhang Xuan and the others, their relationship could certainly be considered familiar.
What a little liar.
Xie Ran had no idea that the person he was flirting with under a female alias was Jiang Xu himself, the very person he occasionally brought out to compare notes with.
He had even been defined by the other person as a crafty little liar.
Sensing someone approaching, Xie Ran turned his head and saw Jiang Xu standing right before him.
He immediately put on a smiling face and greeted him, “Young Master Jiang, what a coincidence.”
Thinking of the updates Ranran had sent him over QQ, Jiang Xu lowered his gaze and then slowly raised it. “Not a coincidence.”
He had come over specifically.
As for why he came specifically, he did not even know.
He had simply received a message from Xie Ran saying that his bestie was coming over to hang out with him, so he thought he would come see who exactly the other person was strolling around the playground with.
Never did he expect that the bestie in Ranran’s mouth would be a guy.
His gaze shifted from Xie Ran to Wang Wenjing. This one-point-nine-meter-tall guy had handsome features and a slightly goofy aura.
The two of them stood shoulder to shoulder, in a rather intimate posture, indicating their relationship was out of the ordinary.
So Xie Ran liked guys?
Otherwise, why would he disguise himself as a girl to trick him, only to go strolling around the playground with another man now?
Jiang Xu certainly did not think the one-point-nine-meter-tall guy who came from afar with such an intimate posture was just a casual friend of Xie Ran’s. On QQ, the person had clearly told V they were with a girl, yet reality turned out to be the exact opposite.
Xie Ran had no inkling of what was running through Jiang Xu’s mind.
If he had known, he would have definitely grabbed a trash can and vomited for three days straight.
He only blinked, seeming not to fully grasp Jiang Xu’s implication.
“It is nothing,” Jiang Xu said. “Do you not have classes today?”
Xie Ran replied, “That is right, no classes.”
His eyes glanced over the camera in Jiang Xu’s hand, lingering for a full three seconds before he looked up to ask, “Do you not have classes either?”
Jiang Xu answered in a soft voice, “I have a basketball match against another university this afternoon.”
“A basketball match?” Xie Ran couldn’t imagine Jiang Xu showing up for a Chemistry Department basketball game. “You know how to play basketball?”
He had assumed a chemistry department hunk like Jiang Xu usually stayed cooped up in the laboratory, with leisure activities limited to something like golf.
Jiang Xu said meaningfully, “There are a lot of things I know how to do.”
Wang Wenjing saw that the conversational dynamic between the two didn’t look like they were particularly unacquainted either.
Hearing Jiang Xu mention the basketball match, he immediately realized this afternoon’s game must be against him.
He hurriedly hooked his arm around Xie Ran’s shoulder, putting on a buddy-buddy posture as he said, “What a coincidence! I am a sports major from neighboring Sichuan University here for the match. Since Xiao Ran has no classes this afternoon, he came to bring me water and can conveniently drop off a bottle for Young Master Jiang to foster some roommate bonding.”
His original intention was simply to get acquainted and make friends with this legendary Peking University campus hunk.
Unfortunately, those words took on a completely different meaning when they landed in Jiang Xu’s ears.
Jiang Xu’s gaze shifted blandly from Wang Wenjing’s body down to the arm draped over Xie Ran’s shoulder, noting the easy intimacy of their interaction as if the two of them were exceptionally close.
After all, Xie Ran did not resist Wang Wenjing’s physical touch.
Their relationship was good enough that he came to deliver water, and even needed to conveniently bring him a bottle on the side.
That final sentence felt like nothing less than a blatant warning.
