After reading this message, Jiang Xu raised his head and looked at Xie Ran in the adjacent bed.
The other person was busy playing a game, his fingers sliding rapidly across the screen. Accompanied by Zhang Xuan’s frantic yelling, it was clear how fierce the situation was, yet he was still able to reply to messages in seconds.
If he had not seen with his own eyes that the account was on Xie Ran’s phone, including the fact that Xie Ran went to the cafeteria and took photos at noon, he would have almost doubted whether this Ranran on the other end really was Xie Ran.
He did not reply, locking the screen and placing his phone aside.
Knock, knock, knock.
A knock sounded outside the dorm room.
Jiang Xu stood up and opened the door. Standing outside was a sturdy-looking guy holding a bag. Upon hearing the door open, the guy lowered his head and rummaged through the bag to find a package.
Matching the room number, he handed the express delivery package over.
“Xie Ran is in this dorm, right? This is his express delivery.”
Jiang Xu took the package, thanked him politely, and closed the door.
Lowering his gaze, he glanced casually at it, his brows twitching slightly.
It was not that he wanted to pry into Xie Ran’s privacy; it was just that the package felt as light as a sponge in his hand, and right on the shipping info label, four large characters were written in black water-based ink: Private Delivery.
Looking further down, words like sexy, suspender, and lace immediately greeted his eyes.
And at the very bottom was the note: [Customer requested privacy keywords.]
Jiang Xu: “……”
Hearing the noise, Xie Ran lifted his head from the screen. “Who is it?”
Why did it faintly sound like he heard his own name?
Jiang Xu calmly placed the express package on Xie Ran’s desk. “The delivery guy.”
Only then did Xie Ran remember the women’s clothing that was out for delivery. He had not expected it to arrive so quickly, thinking it would not come until the afternoon.
The dorm building had a parcel collection service for one yuan per pick-up. Finding it convenient and being too lazy to run down, he always paid someone else to help collect them.
Through repeated dealings, they had become familiar, and the runner was used to dropping it off on the way.
He raised his head and curved his lips into a smile. “Thanks, Brother Jiang Xu.”
Going from Young Master to Brother Jiang Xu, Jiang Xu himself felt completely unaffected inside; in fact, he was long used to Xie Ran’s personality.
Using this personality disguised as a girl to hook people probably seemed normal to him, too.
All of his ambiguous remarks came in complete sets.
He could even reply to messages while playing games, planning out his time clearly and methodically.
He had even bought women’s clothing.
Jiang Xu lowered his head, wondering what he was thinking about.
Could this women’s clothing be the reward Xie Ran had mentioned?
Unaware that his image in Jiang Xu’s mind had long shifted from a little sun to a little lecher, Xie Ran was intently playing his game. His fingers swiped at lightning speed, securing a consecutive penta-kill and driving Zhang Xuan into a frenzy of exaggerated flattery.
“Wow, wow, wow! Ran’er, you really are a master of subtraction, two sets less and you are drop-dead handsome!”
“Your Momahaha is truly dazzlingly flashy.”
“Being great at mid lane is one thing, but being this good at jungle too, you are genuinely comparable to a professional booster.”
Having won several matches in a row, Zhang Xuan’s mood reached an absolute peak of joy, and he felt an urge to step forward and hug Xie Ran for a couple of kisses.
Unfortunately, although Xie Ran looked approachable, he actually disliked physical contact.
With the kind of hugging they were used to, the other person would subconsciously reject it.
Come to think of it, back when they were first assigned to the same dorm as Xie Ran, Zhang Xuan had thought this pretty and delicate fine arts department flower would be a germaphobe with an eccentric personality, refusing to mingle and acting like a total little princess.
Later on, he found out.
How could he possibly refuse to mingle? He was practically way too sociable.
A person’s appearance was not an important element for judging their personality. The other person might have had a slight hint of cleanliness obsession, but he had a good temper, never bossed them around, and instead frequently helped them out and carried them to victory in games.
Aside from when they played terribly and the other person would slightly frown, he never cursed anyone out.
Xie Ran exited the game and smiled, saying, “It is not that exaggerated, I just have a bit of skill.”
He had been quite gifted in gaming since childhood, and had earned a bit of money doing boosting services last semester. However, it was quite time-consuming, and as it happened, his course load this semester was a bit full, leaving him with not much time to waste on game boosting. Thus, he simply took orders as they came, which resulted in him not making much money from boosting since the start of the semester.
Thinking of the camera lens that had accidentally been cracked during the holiday, Xie Ran’s heart practically shattered into pieces.
Yet, because this belonged to a personal hobby, he felt too embarrassed to ask his family for money to buy a new one. Occasionally, he took online portrait commissions to hone his skills and earn a bit of pocket money; now, he was relying entirely on hooking up with He Ruizhe to get evidence and extort Xie Xuan for two thousand yuan.
“Ran’er, let me transfer fifty to you.” Zhang Xuan knew Xie Ran did boosting last semester, and he felt bad letting the other person carry him to King rank for free. Throwing in bubble tea money was not taking advantage of him.
Xie Ran gave a light click of his tongue. “Do not transfer it, no need, we are friends.”
Zhang Xuan felt good inside, but sent the money over anyway. “How could I? Let me introduce you to two girls in a couple of days. Is not the season ending soon? They need to reach King rank too. If you have time, you can help them out, the price is negotiable.”
“Is not your camera lens broken and you are short on cash? Earn whatever you can.”
Xie Ran pondered for a moment, considering that the camera lens was genuinely expensive.
The Fujifilm X-S10 high-end model he had his eye on cost a little over ten thousand.
With only five thousand currently in hand, saving up to ten thousand would probably take quite a long time.
He had originally thought about getting a cheaper one to make do, but on second thought, since he was changing lenses anyway, he might as well get a good one all at once.
Without declining any further, he agreed, “Alright.”
Jiang Xu took the initiative to chime in and ask, “Does your major require using a camera?”
Xie Ran gave a small shake of his head. “Not really, it is just my personal hobby.”
Some assignments required a camera, but mostly he just liked using it to record scenery during travels. Capturing and saving it frame by frame, then slowly pulling out paintbrushes to imprint what he saw and heard onto paper.
To him, it brought a great sense of accomplishment.
Xie Ran refunded the fifty yuan Zhang Xuan had sent and looked up at Jiang Xu. “Is not the laboratory busy today?”
Jiang Xu took out his professional textbook. “Not busy today, going tomorrow instead.”
Xie Ran nodded and did not continue asking, so as not to disturb the other person’s studying.
Seeing the express package on his desk, he glanced left and right. Seeing that both of them were busy with other things and had not noticed him, he finally let out a breath and instinctively looked at the buyer information. The four large characters were striking and a clumsy attempt at concealment, with even the text underneath half-hidden.
“……”
The breath Xie Ran had let out was sharply sucked back in, leaving him utterly dumbfounded.
Did he not ask customer service to mask the keyword text?
Why did it end up looking even more suggestive instead?
Damn it.
Xie Ran had only dared to let the parcel runner help pick it up from the station because he had noted it as a private delivery, and even when it was delivered to the dorm, Jiang Xu had been the one to open the door and take it.
His soul died in an instant.
Was it still too late to assassinate customer service?
Rather than assassinating customer service, it might be better to probe Jiang Xu’s thoughts.
Had the other person actually seen those words? Would he think he was some kind of freak?
Xie Ran felt as if his heart had turned to ash, wishing he could just drop dead on the spot.
