The married life of Xie Jingyu and Wei Xia was exceedingly sweet.
Xie Jingyu went to work and returned home as usual, but Wei Xia was no longer a stay-at-home husband. He returned to university, sat for the doctoral examination that same year, and after a few years passed, became a lecturer at Huancheng University.
Indeed, before their marriage, Wei Xia had been a graduate student at Huancheng University. In order to focus entirely on pursuing his husband, he had taken a one-year leave of absence due to personal matters. However, he had never neglected his studies during that period. Consequently, after returning to campus, he was not negatively affected at all; instead, he completed the tasks assigned by his advisor ahead of schedule.
His specialization was probability theory and mathematical statistics, which happened to be the very subject he was currently teaching.
When Xie Jingyu first learned about this, he was startled initially, and only later did he realize in hindsight that Wei Xia was perfectly suited for this profession.
His understanding of Wei Xia had long since undergone a complete, earth-shattering transformation. In his eyes, Wei Xia was no longer a well-behaved, sensible Omega wife, but rather a somewhat cunning Alpha. This cunningness manifested specifically in how Wei Xia always had a thorough plan in mind but rarely spoke it aloud; he would always find various ways to set traps for Xie Jingyu. By the time Xie Jingyu discovered it, Wei Xia would be laughing secretly like a little fox, smiling so brightly that Xie Jingyu could not find it in himself to be angry at all.
It was no wonder that such a person studied mathematics.
He was simply far too calculating.
In the beginning, Wei Xia was incredibly clingy, nearly to the point of experiencing separation anxiety. He constantly exhausted Xie Jingyu so much that Xie Jingyu could not even get out of bed, only to coax him afterward with gentle words and soft whispers. Xie Jingyu had a soft heart, and under those circumstances, he would agree to absolutely anything. He reasoned that it was ultimately nothing more than intimate playfulness between a married couple, so it did not matter.
However, Xie Jingyu soon noticed that something was amiss.
Being clingy was one thing, but this crossed a line. He began to suspect that Wei Xia did not truly trust him; in other words, Wei Xia was plagued by an extreme lack of security.
Once Xie Jingyu recognized this, he immediately set about arranging all kinds of meaningful milestones, such as holding another wedding ceremony and publicly sharing glimpses of their sweet daily life. Because of this, Xie Jingyu’s external reputation as a cold, detached, and serious individual was entirely reversed into that of a wife-doting maniac, which finally allowed Wei Xia’s condition to improve significantly.
Xie Jingyu wanted to find something for him to do, as staying at home all the time was detrimental to a person’s mental state. Wei Xia gradually understood Xie Jingyu’s intentions, and subsequently, without a single word, he took the exams and entered a doctoral program.
On the day the admission notice arrived, Wei Xia prepared a massive table full of dishes and waited for Xie Jingyu to return home.
That night, under the guise of a reward, he pestered Xie Jingyu for five or six rounds.
Later on, as Wei Xia’s workload grew increasingly heavy, he could no longer take meticulous care of Xie Jingyu in every single aspect, which in turn made Xie Jingyu feel quite unsettled.
Xie Jingyu was not normally a person who easily became jealous. The entire catalyst for this change occurred when Xie Jingyu went to Huancheng University to pick Wei Xia up from work.
That day marked their wedding anniversary. Xie Jingyu had booked a seaside restaurant—the very place where they had first felt their hearts flutter for one another—and planned to arrive early at Wei Xia’s university to surprise him.
It would have been fine had he not gone, but going there gave him quite a shock.
Huancheng University operated on a semi-open campus system, meaning Xie Jingyu’s car could be driven directly to the building where Wei Xia’s office was located. He did not inform Wei Xia beforehand that day, intending to give him a pleasant surprise, so he waited for him downstairs. A full, beautiful bouquet of jasmine flowers rested on the passenger seat.
Right at that moment, he spotted a small, dense crowd of people walking over in a bustling manner.
Standing right in the center of the crowd was Wei Xia.
His appearance remained exceptionally outstanding, beautiful, and exquisite. A bright, gentle smile hung on the corners of his lips, and he was wearing the exact same style of clothing as Xie Jingyu. Yet, there was an indescribable charm to how he looked; Xie Jingyu had gazed at him for several years and still could not get enough.
That was even truer for everyone else.
How had Xie Jingyu never thought of this before?
As Wei Xia’s courses for the semester had just concluded, the students felt incredibly reluctant to part with him, realizing they would no longer have the opportunity to attend the classes of this beautiful senior scholar. Therefore, they had united to organize this appreciation gesture for Wei Xia.
Originally, the gathering could have concluded right in the classroom. However, Wei Xia could not withstand their earnest requests and signed his name for one student. After that, it became impossible to escape along the way. Students swarmed forward in an endless stream, and eventually, even passersby who noticed the famous, strikingly beautiful mathematics lecturer signing autographs joined the ranks of the entanglement.
This continued all the way to Wei Xia’s office building.
Wei Xia was sweating slightly as he said, “All right, all right, let us go one by one. Thank you for your support. Study hard, yes, I hope you do not fail your exams. Good, I wish you your ideal grades. Yes, yes, yes, I wish you success in your weight loss journey.”
Seeing that more and more people were approaching and their requests were becoming increasingly outrageous, he finally could not help but issue a final ultimatum.
“I am leaving work now. After I finish signing these few, I will not be signing any more.”
A wave of disappointed sighs echoed from the students at the back.
Wei Xia found it somewhat amusing and raised his hand to wipe away his sweat. This was truly the first time he had ever had to deal with such an exaggerated scene.
“Ahem.”
Behind him, a familiar cough sounded.
Wei Xia turned around and caught sight of Xie Jingyu.
“Jingyu! Why are you here?!”
Wei Xia’s heart was instantly filled with pleasant surprise, but his students did not necessarily share that sentiment. The moment everyone caught sight of Xie Jingyu’s serious, cold, and imposing gaze, they immediately became flustered and helpless. Within a matter of seconds, everyone backed away to maintain a safe distance of one and a half meters from Professor Wei.
So this was the legendary husband of Professor Wei; he was incredibly handsome, or rather, incredibly terrifying!
Xie Jingyu walked forward and asked calmly, “What is going on here?”
Wei Xia looked at the signing pen in his hand and let out a helpless laugh. “It is nothing, just signing autographs. By the way, who else has not received a signature?”
The students in front of him remained completely silent.
Wei Xia wondered, “…?”
The students thought, “…”
Xie Jingyu’s aura, which had been forged through years of experience in the business world, was already extraordinary. Furthermore, he was currently quite displeased, which was certainly not something students sheltered in an ivory tower could easily withstand.
In the end, it was a student leader who spoke up: “Professor Wei, thank you for your hard work! We will be heading back now, ha-ha! We wish you and the… the master’s wife a safe journey home!”
The moment the words left his mouth, the student realized what a foolish thing he had said and immediately fled without a trace.
The remaining students scattered like birds and beasts.
Wei Xia tried incredibly hard to suppress his laughter, but in the end, he could not hold it back and burst out laughing.
Xie Jingyu looked at him, frowned, and said, “Why have you never mentioned that they surround you like this every single day?”
Wei Xia took hold of his hand, squeezing the soft flesh of his palm. “Today was the very last class of the term. This is the first time it has ever happened.”
“Why did you not tell me you were coming to pick me up today?”
Very quickly, he noticed Xie Jingyu’s car parked by the roadside, and through the window, he saw a large bouquet of jasmine flowers resting on the passenger seat.
Wei Xia understood implicitly, his eyes crinkling into a smile. “Hubby is truly the best. Let us go; I also have something to give to you.”
Once they were seated inside the car, Wei Xia suddenly reached out to cover Xie Jingyu’s eyes, carefully extracting a crystal ball from his bag.
“Open your eyes now.”
Xie Jingyu opened his eyes to see a smooth, exquisite crystal ball before him. It was exceptionally beautiful and completely different from the mass-produced ones sold on the market; the landscape inside was clearly carved stroke by stroke by the person right in front of him using a carving knife.
Inside the globe were two small figures.
The one standing wore a formal suit with a completely serious and earnest expression; that was Xie Jingyu.
The one kneeling on one knee carried a playful, mischievous grin as he slipped a ring onto the other person’s hand; that was Wei Xia.
What they shared in common was a faint, blushing tint on the cheeks of both small figures.
Xie Jingyu’s pleasant surprise was beyond measure.
In the next second, a passionate embrace and kiss came rushing over him. Wei Xia wrapped his arms around him inside the car, kissing him thoroughly until he was completely satisfied.
“Jingyu, happy first wedding anniversary.”
Xie Jingyu felt that this crystal ball looked somewhat familiar, but before he could recall where he had seen it, his attention was drawn away by Wei Xia’s restless hands.
“Happy first wedding anniversary.”
On the other side of the city, Fang Jinran entered the main gates of the Xie Corporate Group, accompanied by a dozen delivery couriers.
“Quiet down and listen to me, everyone! The boss’s spouse, Professor Wei, is treating everyone to milk tea!”
“As for the team-building event tonight, Professor Wei is covering the entire bill!”
“That is wonderful!”
