Upon hearing the Supervisor’s words, Chi Yun Su was stunned for a few seconds. She recalled those days from long, long ago—so distant that she felt she had almost forgotten them—and couldn’t help but smile softly, murmuring to herself, “That’s not wrong.”

“Hmm?” The Supervisor didn’t catch what Chi Yun Su said and looked at her with slight confusion.

Chi Yun Su didn’t explain herself to the Supervisor. Instead, she cheerfully expressed her gratitude and said with great sincerity, “I will always be like this.”Full novel: Wild Card Creation, As Long As It Works — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Although the Supervisor didn’t understand the meaning behind Chi Yun Su’s words, judging by her attitude, the Supervisor knew that this favor had genuinely been extended.

A piece of information might be important to Chi Yun Su, but to the Supervisor, it was nothing.

The Inspector who had come to F171 Port this time held a relatively high position within the Cleaning Company. The fact that Chi Yun Su had managed to get along so well with this Inspector—even engaging in back-and-forth discussions rather than just receiving one-sided guidance—was quite extraordinary in itself.

While the Supervisor was a notable figure within this branch of the Cleaning Company, outside of it, he was nothing.

As long as Chi Yun Su could truly leave Black Port, the Supervisor believed her future would be limitless. Whether he could benefit from it or not, offering a favor in a time of need was certainly not a bad thing.

“As long as it’s useful to you,” the Supervisor said kindly.

After bidding farewell to the Supervisor, Chi Yun Su made her way back to her residence. However, today, her journey back to her room was destined to be anything but smooth.

As she reached the corridor outside her door, she saw the Inspector, who had been waiting for her for who knows how long.

“Teacher!” Chi Yun Su hurriedly quickened her pace and obediently approached her.

The Inspector glanced at Chi Yun Su, looking slightly puzzled. “You seem to be in a good mood. Did something good happen?” Although Chi Yun Su had always smiled at her, the difference between genuine emotion and mere politeness was quite noticeable.

“Mhm!” Chi Yun Su responded happily but didn’t explain the reason for her cheerful mood.

After all, she herself didn’t know why she felt so happy upon hearing the Supervisor say that he saw a reflection of the society from before her transmigration in her.

Since it was difficult to explain, Chi Yun Su simply didn’t give the Inspector a chance to ask about it. Instead, she took the initiative and asked, “Teacher, were you looking for me?”

The Inspector was easily sidetracked by Chi Yun Su and immediately forgot what she had intended to say earlier. She responded to Chi Yun Su’s question, “Yes, it’s about the Card you gave me earlier. Some of its Circuits are rather unusual.”

As she spoke, the Inspector took out the air conditioner Card that Chi Yun Su had once given to ‘Guo Ruofan.’

If Chi Yun Su wanted the Inspector to teach her, she naturally had to show the Inspector her current card crafting abilities. While some Cards were not suitable to share, there was no issue with giving away the disposable, everyday-use Cards she had discarded all over Black Port.

After all, all the Circuits in these Cards were designed by Chi Yun Su, and their overall concepts were interconnected. Using them as a portfolio of her work was perfectly reasonable.

Upon receiving the Cards crafted by Chi Yun Su, the Inspector understood the intention behind it, but she didn’t refuse.Over the past few days of interaction, the Inspector had clearly sensed Chi Yun Su’s distinct style, which differed from their academic approach. She was also quite curious about what kind of Card Chi Yun Su could craft entirely on her own.

However, priorities still mattered. In recent days, the main focus had been stabilizing the machines at the Cleaning Company, and it was only today that the Inspector found time after work to carefully examine the Card Chi Yun Su had given her.

At first glance, the Inspector discovered something quite awkward.

She couldn’t understand it.

After all, she was a Three-Star Card Maker, a high-level card crafter by any measure. Yet, aside from the Circuit being designed based on fundamentals, she found herself completely unable to discern the overall function of the Card.

Even though Chi Yun Su had mentioned from the start that this was a weakened version of the Core Card used in the temperature control devices within the Cleaning Company, the Inspector couldn’t extract that information from the Circuit at all.

Though this was only the lowest-grade White Card—the kind of everyday White Card that “Guo Ruofan” had once picked up and couldn’t even be bothered to glance at.

Hearing the Inspector describe her Card Circuit as strange, Chi Yun Su was taken aback and immediately felt a bit nervous.

In research, the worst fear is going down the wrong path.

“What’s the issue?” Chi Yun Su quickly asked.

“It’s not exactly an issue,” the Inspector weighed her words, ultimately feeling it couldn’t be explained in just a sentence or two. Besides, the hallway wasn’t the place for such a conversation, so she simply pulled Chi Yun Su into her room.

As the Inspector’s assistant, Chi Yun Su naturally lived nearby, but this was her first time stepping inside.

The Inspector’s room was spacious, fully equipped with all kinds of high-end daily necessities. However, what caught Chi Yun Su’s eye most at first glance was her work desk.

On it were various colored Inks, five impressive-looking card crafting pens, but what truly captivated Chi Yun Su were the books on the shelves, their spines adorned with numerous professional card crafting terms.

She wanted to read every single one!

Chi Yun Su’s mind began to wander uncontrollably, scheming once again.

The Inspector didn’t notice Chi Yun Su’s furtive glances. She pulled Chi Yun Su to sit in the reception area and got straight to the point, pointing to a Circuit on the Card that puzzled her the most. “What is this Circuit for? It looks somewhat like the design logic for a Spirit Card’s psychic operation Circuit, but it doesn’t channel psychic energy.”

“And the Ink is strange too—why does it feel so gritty?”

“I know most temperature control Core Cards have a Circuit running from the central zone to the lateral third zone, passing through thirteen points to maintain a constant temperature. Here, you’ve reduced it to nine, and the psychic energy intensity during crafting is different. What’s the purpose of this adjustment?”

“Still, this kind of Circuit is somewhat recognizable. But I don’t see any energy supply Circuit at all. Is it the one in the lower lateral second zone? What was your reasoning for modifying it this way?” the Inspector asked Chi Yun Su earnestly.

Faced with this barrage of questions, Chi Yun Su blinked, then carefully thought it over. In fact, all these questions seemed to point to just one thing.Chi Yun Su awkwardly coughed and pulled out a bottle of black Ink she had prepared herself from her pocket. Inside, some unidentified objects could clearly be seen floating up and down.

“Teacher, you know, the energy blocks that can be scavenged in Black Port don’t have much usable energy left. Even if you transmit that little bit of energy into the instruments, the transmission losses alone could use it all up. So, I thought of a solution.”

“—Just don’t transmit it.”

“Combine the energy with the machine’s Core Card, then mix and adjust it to make this.” When you’re poor, you can only be this simple and crude.

And cheap and durable—making it affordable for everyone is what truly makes it legendary.

Of course, with advantages come disadvantages.

“But this kind of card doesn’t carry much energy. It probably only lasts about ten days to half a month before it can’t be used anymore…” And then those Black Port residents would have no choice but to continue trading with her.

After all, if they used regular energy transmission, Chi Yun Su wouldn’t have anything to do with it. They could just keep scavenging in the garbage mountains themselves. Maybe the energy would only last a day after transmission, but at least they wouldn’t have to put up with Chi Yun Su’s attitude, right?

The bosses from other districts harbored no small amount of resentment over this energy supply issue.

Chi Yun Su, who had thus obtained a steady stream of research materials, patted her pitch-black conscience and said sincerely to the Inspector, “But precisely because of this, now all Black Port residents can afford things like air conditioners.”
