Lu Xiaoyou’s gaze swept over the living room; the arrangement of the house had undergone significant changes since half a year ago.
There used to be a landscape painting in the living room worth millions, along with many ancient antiques and art pieces from famous artists, which were now nowhere to be seen.
In their place were tasteless, nouveau riche-style European enamel vases, shoddy industrial paintings, and a collection of worthless decorations.
“What happened to the landscape painting that used to hang here?”
Aunt Zhang answered her, “Some time ago, a big boss visited the house and took a liking to that painting, so he bought it from the old master for one million.”
One million?!
Lu Xiaoyou felt like spitting blood; that landscape painting was a legacy work by ink painting master Fu Baoshi, worth tens of millions, and it was Lu Family’s property, yet Zhu Chengshou, who knew nothing about it, had sold it for so little!
“I remember that my mother used to love that landscape painting very much,” Lu Xiaoyou murmured softly, if she had been her mother, she would have been so angry that she would have climbed out of her coffin!
Back when Zhu Chengshou’s company was struggling with capital turnover, he sold many items from the house, and ultimately sold a daughter, but eventually the company overcame the difficulties, and the Zhu family returned to a life of luxury.
“The second young miss should be out with her boyfriend, and third young miss, let me pour you some tea,” Aunt Zhang, having seen Zhu Ti bully Lu Xiaoyou, breathed a sigh of relief in her absence.
“No need, Aunt Zhang, I’ll just check my room and leave.”
Lu Xiaoyou walked upstairs, and Aunt Zhang stood at the bottom, her heart aching as she watched her slender figure.
The original owner’s bedroom was located at the farthest end of the third floor; it was cold, damp, and very small.
Upon entering, she found that many items had been moved out of the room, and when she opened the wardrobe, she was hit by a musty smell, with hardly any wearable clothes left inside.
Lu Xiaoyou bent down and pulled open a drawer at the bottom of the wardrobe.
She opened a jewelry box to find it empty; the expensive jewelry that the original owner’s mother had left for her daughter had been taken away by the stepmother, along with several property deeds now in Zhu Chengshou’s hands.
Lu Xiaoyou couldn’t help but twitch her mouth in frustration.
She was too unlucky!
She had nothing to her name, and even her ID card was pawned at Secret Garden, making it impossible for her to work or rent a place on her own outside.
Lu Xiaoyou came across a red velvet pouch and emptied its contents.
A rusted pocket watch, and a ruby ring of poor quality; the stepmother probably thought the ring was worthless, which was why she didn’t take it.
There was also one more item, a stone the size of a chicken egg, yes, just an ordinary grey stone from the roadside!
Such an item was naturally of no interest to the stepmother.
“Master!” Sky-Annihilating Emperor crawled out of Lu Xiaoyou’s pocket, climbed onto her leg, and sniffed the stone.
“There seems to be a Crystal Stone inside!” said the Sky-Annihilating Emperor.
Lu Xiaoyou’s eyes lit up; the Crystal Stone mentioned by the Sky-Annihilating Emperor was an incredibly expensive diamond in this world; she pressed the stone to the Sky-Annihilating Emperor’s nose.
“Can you sniff out what kind of Crystal Stone it is?
How’s the quality?”
“This is a Crystal Stone of very high clarity and also quite large; just remove a few millimeters of the outer shell and you’ll be able to see the surface of the Crystal Stone,” it said.
Lu Xiaoyou put all the items back into the red velvet pouch; she would find equipment to polish this stone!
“Someone’s coming!” The white hamster hastily burrowed back into the pocket, and Lu Xiaoyou quickly returned the pouch to the jewelry box.
She too felt someone entering, not Aunt Zhang, but a man, who was approaching her step by step!
