No one knew what happened after that.

By the time everyone came to their senses, three of Bai Yun’s assistants had already appeared at the venue.

Lu Jiu was taken away by Bai Yun.Full novel: Woke Up Pregnant in Every World [Quick Transmigration] — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Luo Yi, too, was “invited” to come along, with his parents hurrying after in panic.

From the next banquet hall, Lu Mingyang and Yang Yu rushed out after hearing the commotion. Seeing Lu Quning being escorted into the elevator as well, they were equally confused and quickly followed.

Three cars waited outside the hotel.

Mr. Luo turned and saw Lu Jiu and Bai Yun already seated in one of them, the vehicle pulling smoothly away. Uneasy, he turned to the assistant still standing beside them. “Where exactly is Mr. Bai taking us? We have our own car in the basement, I can drive, ”

“That won’t be necessary,” the assistant replied with an impeccable smile. “Please, get in. When everything is over, I’ll personally see you home.”

The car door shut with a soft thud.

Luo Yi leaned against the window, staring out at Shen Ke and the others who had rushed after them, his face clearly saying one thing, am I even going to make it home alive today?

On the road, Lu Jiu asked dryly, “Don’t you think you’re making a bit too big a deal out of this?”

He hadn’t expected Bai Yun to react this strongly.

The man was still staring at the ultrasound report on his phone. Hearing the question, he looked up briefly, eyes dark as ink.

Lu Jiu fell silent.

Then, as always, he found his humor again.

Fine, he could understand it. It was Bai Yun’s first time about to become a father, of course he was “emotional.”

With a teasing smile, Lu Jiu drawled, “What, you want to go to the hospital and check if it’s a mistake? Dr. Gao has already confirmed it three times, it’s definitely accurate, and the baby’s perfectly healthy. Anyway, my next check-up isn’t for another week, ”

Before he could finish, Bai Yun reached forward, lowered the partition between them and the driver, set the phone aside, and leaned in.

His hand caught Lu Jiu’s chin, and his mouth came down hard over his, silencing him completely.

Half an hour later, the three cars stopped in front of a hospital.

Ten minutes after that, Dr. Gao opened the door to find Lu Jiu lounging in a chair, one leg crossed over the other, and Bai Yun beside him, still staring at his phone.

She adjusted her glasses. “So, he knows now?”

“Yes,” Lu Jiu nodded. “It’s my birthday today.”

“Happy birthday,” she said, smiling.

“Thanks. Please help me calm this guy down.”

Dr. Gao couldn’t help laughing and gestured to Bai Yun. “Come here, Mr. Bai….”

There was no need to redo the tests, the report was already in the hospital system. Dr. Gao pulled up the files and began explaining them one by one, while Bai Yun frowned slightly, reading every line with serious concentration.

“So, yes,” she said, “Lu Jiu is indeed pregnant, and it’s been nearly three months. You don’t have to worry too much, he’s in very good condition. The most unstable stage has already passed. As long as you take good care of him, everything should go smoothly.”

Bai Yun didn’t interrupt once.

After a while, he asked quietly, “He won’t be able to give birth naturally, will he?”

“Of course not,” Dr. Gao replied. “Physiologically, that’s impossible. He’ll have to undergo a C-section.”

“Is there risk?”

“Other than the surgery itself, the risks are no different from those of any regular pregnancy.”

Bai Yun frowned again. “And during the pregnancy? Any higher risks?”

“No,” she said, “As long as it’s stable and he’s very stable.”

Throughout the conversation, Lu Jiu just gazed out the window, his expression calm.

When Dr. Gao finally said she had to get back to work and left them alone, the room fell silent again.

Only then did Lu Jiu turn his head.

It might have been the first time he’d ever seen Bai Yun’s brows knit so tightly.

Lu Jiu’s lips curved into a faint smile.

Admitting it had been easier, and funnier, than he’d expected.

After a long pause, Bai Yun straightened up.

“So,” Lu Jiu asked lazily, “How are you taking it, Mr. Bai?”

Bai Yun’s voice was quiet. “We should have used a different condom that day.”

Lu Jiu blinked, momentarily stunned, then burst out laughing.

“You realized it after we were already done, didn’t you? What’s the point of saying that now?”

Bai Yun’s gaze softened slightly. “I did notice something was off, but since it was the first time for both of us, I didn’t stop. That was my fault.”

Lu Jiu’s laughter faded.

He stared at the man for a moment, and then the corners of his lips lifted again, this time, slower, quieter.

“…It was an accident. You said it yourself, if you’d known I could get pregnant, you would’ve taken precautions.”

The sharp sound of polished leather shoes echoed on the floor.

Bai Yun walked up to him and tilted his chin up with one hand.

“So when you asked me to find you a doctor that day, you already suspected it?”

“…Yes.”

“Then why didn’t you tell me?”

“Please,” Lu Jiu turned his face away, half exasperated and half embarrassed, “I thought I’d lost my mind, how could I tell you something like that? If it turned out to be nothing, I’d have made a complete fool of myself.”

“What about afterward?”

“At that time, we had only slept together once,” Lu Jiu leaned his head to the side, then raised his eyes again, “I told you before, I wasn’t planning on making you take responsibility. Even now, I’m not. I didn’t tell you that you’d have to marry me or do anything out of duty. I just thought… you deserve to know. You should have the right to choose.”

He didn’t know whether the shocking news had scrambled Bai Yun’s thoughts or simply cracked something open inside him, but the man’s expression turned slightly strange.

“You don’t want me to take responsibility?” Bai Yun’s eyes narrowed faintly. “Then who exactly do you want to take responsibility? Ye Lin?”

“…What?” Lu Jiu blinked, thrown off. “Why are you suddenly getting jealous? What does he have to do with this?”

Bai Yun’s gaze was steady and sharp. “This child is ours.”

Lu Jiu’s mouth twitched. “…Yes, yours.”

Silence fell between them.

Then Bai Yun’s hand, which had been holding his chin, slid upward, cupping Lu Jiu’s face gently.

He bent down, and his lips brushed against Lu Jiu’s.

The kiss deepened, slow and tender at first, then growing heavier, the kind that made breathing turn long and shallow.

Lu Jiu’s arms rose of their own accord, wrapping around Bai Yun’s neck. His fingers played absently with the man’s short hair, the strands rough and prickling against his fingertips.

Bai Yun kissed him again, his voice low between breaths. “Are you still feeling sick these days?”

“Not anymore,” Lu Jiu mumbled against his mouth.

“You were nauseous that day on the yacht.”

“That was because the boat was rocking when we stopped,” he replied, a faint laugh escaping him. “It’s fine now.”

Bai Yun shifted, deepening the kiss again.

Lu Jiu could feel it, he wanted to ask more. There were still things he hadn’t said aloud. But some questions, at this point, no longer needed to be asked.

Have you thought about ending the pregnancy?

Were you scared?

When you stayed away from me, what were you really thinking?

Both of them already knew the answers.

By choosing to tell him the truth, Lu Jiu had already thrown all fear and hesitation behind him.

He had taken that step forward without looking back.

And Bai Yun had opened his arms and caught him firmly.

Outside, a sudden commotion broke the quiet.

Lu Jiu pulled back slightly, panting softly. “Why did you bring them here?”

“People who gossip should pay the price,” Bai Yun said coolly, and went to open the door.

Lu Jiu, curious, followed behind him.

In the corridor outside, a small crowd had gathered. Lu Mingyang, Yang Yu, Lu Quning, and the entire Luo family were there, all cornering Bai Yun’s three assistants with questions.

The moment the door opened, the noise cut off abruptly.

Bai Yun’s gaze swept over them. “Did you get the full story?”

The assistant nodded. “Yes, sir. Everything.”

Luo Yi’s face turned pale, and he quickly jumped to defend himself. “I really did see Lu Jiu in the maternity section that day, but the part about him having a girlfriend was Lu Quning’s idea, not mine!”

“What?!” Lu Quning’s eyes widened in panic. “I never said that! You were the one running your mouth!”

“I asked you if it was true, and you didn’t deny it!” Luo Yi shouted back.

“I didn’t even understand what you meant, how could I have answered? I stayed silent and that counts as agreeing with you now?”

“You call that not understanding?” Luo Yi snapped. “You were looking guilty as hell, your eyes were darting everywhere! Only you know what you were scheming! And if I didn’t hit the mark, why were you panicking so hard? You went completely pale, like someone caught red-handed!”

Bai Yun’s cold gaze swept across them, and Lu Quning instantly felt a chill crawl up his spine.

“I didn’t! Luo Yi, stop making things up. You’re the one who can’t keep your imagination in check, you cause trouble and then try to pin it on others!”

The two of them were practically biting at each other’s throats when Lu Mingyang, trying to appear calm, stepped in. “Xiao Bai, what is going on here? Today is Jiu Jiu’s birthday. Why are you making such a scene?”

Bai Yun ignored him. He turned to his assistants. “Send them all back. I’ll deal with it the day after tomorrow.”

Lu Mingyang froze, his face darkening. “Fine. Fine! Lu Jiu, you’re coming home with me!”

Bai Yun stepped in front of Lu Jiu, his voice cold. “Lu Jiu is coming with me.”

Lu Jiu blinked. “Huh?”

He frowned. “With you? Where are we even going?”

“To my place, of course.”

“…Why do I have to go to your place to sleep?”

“Who said it would be just one night?”

Lu Jiu stared at him. “What? I already paid three months’ rent, and I’ve only lived there for less than one.”

“Give me your landlord’s contact information. My assistant will handle it.”

“Wait, no,” Lu Jiu protested weakly, “I’m not mentally prepared to live together with you yet!”

Bai Yun’s brows drew together. Then, after a brief pause, he relaxed and nodded slightly. “Alright. Then I’ll move into your place.”

Lu Jiu was speechless for a long moment. “…Forget it. I’ll go with you.”

His tiny rented apartment couldn’t possibly fit this man’s ego.

By the time everything had settled down and they left the hospital, it was already half past nine at night.

Shen Ke messaged Lu Jiu in secret, asking what had happened. Lu Jiu brushed it off with a vague reply.

Shen Ke sent him a photo, the ruined five-layer cake, half-eaten and collapsing in on itself.

“What a tragedy. You didn’t even get a bite, and those guys tore through the whole thing. Look at it, does that look like something humans did?”

Lu Jiu’s lips twitched.

“Your effort is appreciated. Let them eat more. Waste not, want not.”

Then he sent Shen Ke a red envelope.

“For your hard work today, Comrade Shen Ke.”

“What’s the occasion for this gift?”

“Something worth celebrating,” Lu Jiu replied with a laugh. “Sort of.”

The car wound its way toward the outskirts of the city.

Halfway through, Lu Jiu noticed something strange about their route.

“This isn’t the way to your family estate.”

“I have a villa in Boshan,” Bai Yun replied casually. “We’ll stay there for now. The estate is too far from the city, it’d be inconvenient for you to get to class.”

Lu Jiu nodded slowly, though inwardly he was reeling.

The Boshan villa, one of the most exclusive luxury areas in the country.

The car climbed higher and higher up the mountain before finally stopping.

It was cold up here at night, the temperature dropping sharply. Before Lu Jiu could step out, Bai Yun slipped off his coat and draped it over his shoulders.

Inside, the villa was brightly lit. A butler and two housekeepers were waiting in the living room. The entire place looked like a scene straight out of a drama.

Lu Jiu had been brought here straight from the hospital with nothing but the clothes on his back, yet somehow, Bai Yun had already called ahead, fresh clothes and toiletries were all prepared.

He led Lu Jiu upstairs. The spacious master bedroom had clearly been Bai Yun’s before, and now it was his as well.

“Take a hot shower first,” Bai Yun said.

Then he rested a hand lightly on Lu Jiu’s shoulder and lowered his voice. “Are you hungry?”

Lu Jiu rubbed his stomach. “A little.”

“Don’t stay in too long,” Bai Yun said softly, brushing his thumb along Lu Jiu’s cheek. “I’ll make you something to eat.”

Mr. and Mrs. Bai arrived in a rush near midnight after receiving the news.

“Where’s Jiu Jiu? Is he alright? Has he gone to bed yet? Is he feeling okay?” Mrs. Bai asked anxiously the moment she stepped into the villa.

From the kitchen came Bai Yun’s voice.

“He’s upstairs. It’s late. Don’t go up and wake him. I told you to come tomorrow.”

Mrs. Bai was momentarily speechless.

“He’s gone through such a big ordeal, and you expect me to wait until tomorrow? You think I could sleep tonight without knowing everything?”

She walked briskly into the kitchen, her expression tense as she fixed her gaze on her son. “…It’s true, isn’t it? He’s really pregnant?”

“Yes.” Bai Yun’s tone was calm, his profile composed, as if they were discussing something utterly ordinary.

Mrs. Bai took two deep breaths, her face shifting between disbelief and horror. “You two didn’t use protection?”

“The condom broke.”

She inhaled sharply again, pressing a hand to her chest. “How many months?”

“Three.”

Her voice rose an octave. “Three months?! That means it happened the very night you came back to the country!”

“Yes. That was also the only time we slept together.” Bai Yun’s lips curved slightly, though his eyes stayed cool. “Mom, are you sure you want to keep asking?”

Mrs. Bai felt a stabbing pain in her chest. She was genuinely worried she might have a heart attack at this point.

Thankfully, Mr. Bai entered just in time, his expression stern as he asked, “Then what are you planning to do next? You’re just going to live together like this?”

Bai Yun ladled the noodles into a bowl with practiced ease. His calm, domestic movements made his parents stare in disbelief.

“Of course not. We’ll get married. I’ll handle everything in the next few days,” he said evenly. “And by the way, I’ve cooked plenty while abroad. You don’t have to look at me like I’ve done something impossible.”

Mrs. Bai muttered, “Then how come you never cooked for us?”

Bai Yun turned with the bowl in his hands, glancing at her. “Didn’t I ask when you were sick?”

Mrs. Bai froze. She remembered now, a month ago, when she had caught a terrible cold, the housekeeper was out for the day, and her son had quietly asked if he should make something for her.

She had groaned miserably and snapped, “You? Cook? Just order takeout for me!”

Now recalling it, she felt her heart squeeze again. Maybe she really shouldn’t have come tonight.

Bai Yun set the bowl down and said in a low voice, “You two should go home and rest early. And don’t make such a big scene when you come tomorrow, you’ll only make him nervous.”

“Fine, fine…” Mr. and Mrs. Bain nodded numbly, still in shock as they left the villa like two wandering souls.

After a quick shower, Lu Jiu stepped out in clean pajamas. Standing before the unfamiliar room and the wide, soft bed, he felt an odd sense of unreality.

…Shouldn’t he have expected this the moment he decided to tell Bai Yun the truth?

Still, it was just a different place to stay. Nothing to overthink.

He climbed onto the bed and pulled the blanket over himself. The quilt was soft and warm, the mattress plush and springy.

He chuckled to himself. Who would have thought Bai Yun preferred sleeping on such a soft bed?

The door opened.

Lu Jiu lifted his head, only to see Bai Yun walk in with a steaming bowl of noodles. He quickly pushed aside the blanket and got up, sitting at the table.

The delicious smell made his stomach growl embarrassingly. He picked up the chopsticks and began to eat eagerly.

Bai Yun pulled out a chair beside him, crossing his legs and watching quietly.

“My parents came by just now,” he said calmly. “I told them to visit again tomorrow.”

Lu Jiu froze mid-bite. “…Uncle and Aunt can accept it?”

“As long as they get a grandchild, there’s nothing they can’t accept.”

Bai Yun said it so naturally that Lu Jiu almost choked on his noodles. If Mr. and Mrs. Bai heard that, they’d probably faint on the spot.

“This day should have been a happy one,” Bai Yun added. “Happy birthday, Jiu.”

Lu Jiu blinked, a small smile forming on his lips. “Thank you.”

He slurped another mouthful of noodles, then paused as realization struck. “Wait… this is longevity noodles?”

Bai Yun raised an eyebrow, amused. “Just regular noodles. Longevity noodles take more time to prepare.”

He noticed a fleck of green onion clinging to the corner of Lu Jiu’s lips. Taking a tissue, he leaned in and gently wiped it away.

“If you want those, I’ll make them for you tomorrow,” he said softly.

Lu Jiu’s eyes widened. “You made this?”

Bai Yun tilted his head, as if to say, You’ve been eating it for ten minutes, and only now you ask?

Lu Jiu’s heart thumped hard.

He had thought Bai Yun’s earlier “I’ll make you something to eat” meant I’ll tell the housekeeper to make something. He hadn’t expected the man to cook it himself.

The realization hit him with surprising force. Bai Yun’s simple domestic gesture was almost too much, quietly lethal in its tenderness.

Lu Jiu admitted it to himself then, in that moment, he might have actually fallen for him a little.

He ate until not a drop of soup was left.

After washing up, he crawled back into bed. Bai Yun was taking off his sweater, hands crossing at the hem before he pulled it over his head.

His body was flawless. Not overly bulky, but sculpted in all the right places, the muscles on his shoulders, arms, and abs defined yet smooth, exuding quiet strength.

With his shirt gone, his narrow waist and broad shoulders became even more pronounced.

Lu Jiu couldn’t help but stare.

Noticing his gaze, Bai Yun gave a low, teasing smile before disappearing into the bathroom.

Ten minutes later, he came out, towel-drying his hair, and lifted the quilt to lie beside him.

Lu Jiu was already resting with his head on the pillow when he murmured, “I opened that jewelry box.”

Bai Yun reached for his tablet, scrolling through a few files. “You actually liked the earrings?”

Lu Jiu smiled faintly. “You bought me earrings.”

“Do you like them?”

He touched his earlobes. He had pierced them back in middle school, a rebellious summer memory. He’d worn studs for half a month before his homeroom teacher caught him and lectured him through an entire lunch break.

After that, he’d stubbornly replaced the studs with bits of tea stems, just to keep the holes open. Eventually, he stopped wearing anything.

“I like them.”

They were ruby studs, small, deep red stones wrapped in silver vines, like two roses blooming quietly in the night.

“It’s been so long, though… ” he murmured. “I’m not sure the piercings are still open.”

Bai Yun looked at him, then reached out, his fingertips tracing the back of Lu Jiu’s hand before gliding up to his earlobe.

“Up to you. If you don’t want to wear them, just keep them.”

“They’re already bought, what’s the point of keeping them in a box?” Lu Jiu mused. “If they don’t fit, I’ll just get them redone after the baby’s born.”

Bai Yun’s touch was feather-light, gentle enough to make Lu Jiu’s eyelids droop.

“I could do it for you.”

Lu Jiu’s eyes flicked open. “Oh? So that’s why you bought them, to play piercer?”

“Of course not.” Bai Yun chuckled and gave his cheek a small squeeze, as if to say what are you thinking about again?

“Then why earrings?” Lu Jiu turned on his side to face him.

“Because I’ve never seen you wearing them,” Bai Yun said after a pause. “I thought you’d look beautiful with them on.”

Lu Jiu stared, his ears heating. This man… Why did he always sound like he was casually reciting love lines?

Bai Yun smiled, pulled his hand back, and returned to his files. The soft glow of the screen illuminated the sharp lines of his face.

Lu Jiu studied him for a long moment before inching closer, placing a fingertip against Bai Yun’s abdomen.

He traced the ridges lightly, then slid his hand under the fabric, directly onto his firm abs.

“Stop touching,” Bai Yun warned, his tone cool but his arm soon encircled Lu Jiu, pulling him close. “You’re not ready for that yet.”

“That’s exactly why I should touch,” Lu Jiu countered shamelessly.

Bai Yun gave him a sidelong glance. “You should sleep. I’ll be done soon.”

“Tomorrow’s Sunday. I don’t have class, and you don’t have to go to the company either,” Lu Jiu said lazily. “You don’t need to treat me like I’m made of glass.”

“There’s still a lot to do. We’ll go to your apartment to pack your things, then to your home to get your household register.”

Lu Jiu froze mid-motion, his hand still resting on Bai Yun’s stomach. “…Why do you need that?”

Bai Yun paused, his lashes lowering as he glanced back at him. “Because on Monday, we’re going to the Civil Affairs Bureau.”

Lu Jiu blinked. “Wait, what? You want to marry me?”

Bai Yun looked genuinely surprised by the question. His eyes narrowed slightly. “You weren’t planning to?”
