The wolf’s single word remained suspended in the air.

Mara stood beside him, frozen in terror.

The young silver wolf stared at them with calm golden eyes.

Then, slowly, it lowered its head.

Not in surrender.

In recognition.

Kael looked around the forest.

Everything was peaceful.

Too peaceful.

Birds sang.

Leaves moved gently in the breeze.

The river nearby sparkled beneath the fading daylight.

There were no ruins.

No armies.

No ancient gods.

No broken moons.

No black sky.

No First Heart.

No Second Heart.

No war.

Yet Kael remembered everything.

He remembered the palace.

He remembered Lyra.

He remembered his mother.

He remembered Azeron.

He remembered Silence.

He remembered the three Hearts.

And he remembered destroying them.

“Where is everyone?” Kael whispered.

Mara looked confused.

“Everyone?”

“Lyra.”

“Who is Lyra?”

“Your kingdom.”

“What kingdom?”

“The wolves.”

“What wolves?”

Kael turned toward the forest.

Hundreds of golden eyes stared back.

Mara followed his gaze.

Her face went pale.

“There are wolves.”

Kael nodded.

“Yes.”

“Why are they looking at us?”

The young silver wolf stepped forward.

“Because they remember.”

Mara screamed.

Kael moved in front of her.

The wolf smiled.

“You still protect her.”

Kael’s heart raced.

“You can speak.”

“I have always been able to.”

“Who are you?”

The wolf tilted its head.

“You named me.”

Kael stared.

“I don’t remember.”

The wolf walked closer.

“You don’t remember yet.”

The Blood Moon climbed higher.

As it rose, the forest began changing.

Trees became taller.

The river widened.

The stars appeared before night had even arrived.

Kael watched the transformation.

“What is happening?”

The wolf answered:

“The world is waking.”

“What world?”

The wolf looked at the moon.

“This one.”

Kael frowned.

“This isn’t the world I knew.”

“No.”

“Then where are we?”

The wolf looked directly into his eyes.

“At the beginning.”

Kael’s stomach tightened.

“The beginning of what?”

“Everything.”

Mara stepped forward.

“Who are you?”

The wolf looked at her.

“You don’t remember me either.”

“No.”

“I remember you.”

Mara stared.

“How?”

“You were the first human who ever spoke to me.”

She shook her head.

“I’ve never met you.”

The wolf smiled.

“Not yet.”

Kael looked toward the sky.

“How did we come back?”

The wolf sat beneath a tree.

“You destroyed the Hearts.”

“I remember.”

“Then you destroyed yourself.”

Kael frowned.

“What?”

“You were the vessel holding them.”

Mara looked at him.

“So how is he alive?”

The wolf’s eyes glowed.

“Because someone chose to save him.”

Kael’s expression changed.

“Who?”

The wolf didn’t answer.

“Who?”

Still nothing.

Kael stepped closer.

“Tell me.”

The wolf looked toward the Blood Moon.

“Your daughter.”

Kael froze.

“Lyra?”

The wolf nodded.

“But she isn’t here.”

“She is.”

“Where?”

“Everywhere.”

Kael didn’t understand.

The wolf continued.

“When you shattered the Hearts, reality began collapsing.

There was no life, no death, no possibility.

Everything was returning to nothing.”

“And Lyra?”

“She refused.”

Kael swallowed.

“What did she do?”

“She became the bridge.”

“Between what?”

“Everything that was.”

“And everything that could be.”

Kael stared.

“She sacrificed herself.”

The wolf lowered its head.

“Yes.”

Mara touched Kael’s arm.

“Then why don’t I remember her?”

“Because memories were part of the old world.”

Kael’s eyes filled with tears.

“So she’s gone.”

The wolf looked at him.

“No.”

“Then where is she?”

The wolf stood.

“That’s what we’re going to find out.”

They followed the wolf through the forest.

Mara remained close to Kael.

Neither spoke for several minutes.

Finally, she whispered:

“Do you really know me?”

Kael looked at her.

“Yes.”

“How?”

“You were my wife.”

She stopped walking.

“What?”

Kael immediately regretted saying it.

Mara stared at him.

“I’m sorry.”

“You were my wife?”

“In another world.”

She studied his face.

“You don’t look like a liar.”

“I’m not.”

“Then what happened?”

Kael looked toward the path.

“A lot.”

“Did we love each other?”

Kael smiled sadly.

“More than anything.”

Mara looked away.

“I don’t remember.”

“I know.”

“Does that hurt?”

“More than you can imagine.”

She was quiet.

Then she reached for his hand.

Kael looked down.

Mara smiled.

“Maybe we can start again.”

Kael stared at her.

Then smiled.

“Maybe.”

The forest ended.

Beyond it stood a city.

Kael stopped.

The city was enormous.

Silver towers rose into the sky.

Bridges connected buildings hundreds of meters above the ground.

Crystal lights floated through the streets.

Humans walked beside wolves.

Children played with creatures that looked like miniature dragons.

Kael stared.

“What is this?”

The wolf answered:

“Your kingdom.”

Kael frowned.

“I’ve never seen it.”

“You haven’t built it yet.”

Kael turned.

“What?”

The wolf smiled.

“You haven’t understood.”

The city wasn’t a memory.

It was a possibility.

One of the worlds created when Kael shattered the Hearts.

A world that had never existed before.

A world without the old war.

A world where wolves and humans lived together.

A world built from choice.

Kael whispered:

“This is what I created?”

“No.”

The wolf looked at him.

“This is what you allowed to become possible.”

They entered the city.

Everyone stared at Kael.

Some bowed.

Others whispered.

Kael became uncomfortable.

“Why are they looking at me?”

The wolf answered:

“Because they know you.”

“I don’t know them.”

“They know your story.”

“What story?”

The wolf stopped.

“Your story has already happened here.”

Kael frowned.

“That makes no sense.”

“It will.”

A woman approached.

She wore silver armor.

Her hair was black.

Her eyes were gold.

She bowed.

“My king.”

Kael stared.

“I’m not a king.”

The woman smiled.

“You always say that.”

Mara looked at Kael.

“Apparently you have a habit of denying things.”

Kael sighed.

“Who are you?”

The woman looked at him.

“Queen Elara.”

Kael froze.

“Elara?”

She nodded.

“You remember.”

“Yes.”

“But you aren’t the Elara I knew.”

“No.”

She touched his shoulder.

“I am the Elara who might have been.”

Kael felt a strange sensation.

Another possibility.

Another life.

Another world.

He was beginning to understand.

This reality wasn’t replacing the old one.

It was growing alongside it.

And somewhere among these possibilities—

Lyra still existed.

They reached a palace.

Kael walked inside.

He immediately recognized the architecture.

But everything was brighter.

Warmer.

Alive.

A massive painting hung above the entrance.

Kael stopped.

It showed himself.

Mara.

Lyra.

The First Wolf.

Azeron.

The First Mother.

Even Silence.

But they were standing together.

Not fighting.

Not divided.

United.

Kael stared.

“Who painted this?”

Elara answered:

“Lyra.”

His heart stopped.

“When?”

“Yesterday.”

Kael turned.

“Yesterday?”

Elara nodded.

“She has been waiting for you.”

Kael’s voice trembled.

“Where is she?”

Elara pointed toward the throne room.

Kael ran.

The throne room was empty.

Except for a single girl standing beside the window.

Long golden hair.

Golden eyes.

A silver pendant around her neck.

Kael stopped breathing.

“Lyra.”

The girl turned.

She smiled.

“Father.”

Kael crossed the room in seconds.

He pulled her into his arms.

She laughed.

“You took your time.”

Kael held her tightly.

“I thought I lost you.”

“You did.”

He froze.

She pulled away.

“What?”

Lyra smiled sadly.

“I died.”

Kael’s face went pale.

“But you’re here.”

“Yes.”

“How?”

“I told you.”

“I don’t remember you telling me.”

“Not yet.”

Kael stared.

“You’re speaking in riddles.”

She laughed.

“You always hated riddles.”

Mara entered behind him.

Lyra looked at her.

“Mother.”

Mara froze.

“Mother?”

Lyra smiled.

“Yes.”

Mara’s eyes filled with tears she didn’t understand.

“I don’t remember you.”

“I know.”

Lyra stepped toward her.

“That’s okay.”

She hugged Mara.

Mara stood frozen.

Then slowly wrapped her arms around the girl.

Something changed.

A memory appeared.

A small child.

A garden.

A woman laughing.

A man holding a baby.

Mara gasped.

“Lyra.”

The name came naturally.

Lyra smiled.

“Welcome back.”

Kael watched them.

He couldn’t speak.

Then the doors opened.

The First Mother entered.

Kael’s expression hardened.

“You.”

She looked at him.

“Yes.”

“You remember?”

“Everything.”

“Why don’t I?”

“Because you chose not to.”

Kael frowned.

“I did?”

She nodded.

“When you shattered the Hearts, you could have restored the old universe.”

“But?”

“You refused.”

“Why?”

“Because restoration would have brought back every old mistake.”

Kael looked around.

“So you created this.”

“No.”

She smiled.

“Lyra did.”

Kael turned toward his daughter.

Lyra looked uncomfortable.

“I didn’t do it alone.”

“Who helped you?”

She looked toward the doorway.

A familiar voice answered.

“I did.”

Kael turned.

Azeron walked into the room.

Alive.

Kael stared.

“Azeron.”

His brother smiled.

“You look surprised.”

“You died.”

“So did you.”

Kael laughed.

Azeron approached.

“I told you.”

“What?”

“Memory never truly disappears.”

Kael embraced him.

Azeron froze.

Then slowly returned the embrace.

“You are still unbearable.”

Kael smiled.

“You missed me.”

“No.”

“You did.”

“Perhaps.”

For the first time, the old family stood together.

Kael.

Mara.

Lyra.

Azeron.

The First Wolf.

The First Mother.

Even Orion entered the room.

It felt impossible.

Yet it felt right.

Kael looked around.

“This world is different.”

Azeron nodded.

“It was designed to be.”

“No wars.”

“No.”

“No gods ruling us.”

“No.”

“No ancient creatures trying to erase us.”

Azeron hesitated.

Kael noticed.

“What?”

Azeron looked toward the window.

“Not yet.”

The room became silent.

Kael frowned.

“What does that mean?”

Azeron walked to the window.

“Look.”

Kael joined him.

The Blood Moon filled the sky.

But there was something wrong.

A thin black ring surrounded it.

Kael’s expression changed.

“That’s impossible.”

Azeron nodded.

“I know.”

Lyra stepped forward.

“The old universe is still alive.”

Kael turned.

“How?”

Lyra looked at the moon.

“When you destroyed the Hearts, you didn’t destroy the old world.”

“Then what happened?”

“You separated it.”

“From this world?”

“From everything.”

Kael stared.

“And now?”

Lyra’s eyes became golden.

“Now it’s coming back.”

A deep rumble shook the palace.

The floor cracked.

The wolves outside began howling.

The First Wolf looked toward the sky.

“No.”

Kael turned.

“What?”

His father looked terrified.

“The First World has found us.”

Kael raised his sword.

“Then we fight.”

Lyra shook her head.

“No.”

“Why?”

“Because it isn’t attacking.”

The rumbling stopped.

Silence filled the city.

Then a voice came from the sky.

**KAEL.**

Everyone looked upward.

A giant face appeared behind the moon.

Kael recognized it.

The First World.

But its voice was different.

Not angry.

Not threatening.

Afraid.

**PLEASE.**

Kael lowered his sword.

“Please what?”

The creature answered:

**DON’T LET HER FIND ME.**

Kael frowned.

“Who?”

The face disappeared.

Then another voice spoke.

A woman’s voice.

Soft.

Beautiful.

Terrifying.

**You cannot hide forever.**

The First Mother dropped her weapon.

Kael looked at her.

“Who is that?”

She whispered:

“The woman who created the first universe.”

Kael’s eyes widened.

“My mother?”

The First Mother shook her head.

“No.”

She looked toward the Blood Moon.

“Her mother.”

Kael froze.

“Her mother?”

Azeron stepped backward.

“That’s not possible.”

Lyra stared at the moon.

“What is she?”

The First Mother whispered:

“The being who existed before the first choice.”

Kael’s blood turned cold.

“Before creation?”

“Yes.”

“Then what is she?”

The First Mother looked at him.

“Nothing.”

The moon turned black.

The city lights went out.

The woman’s voice whispered:

**I AM THE END BEFORE THE BEGINNING.**

Kael raised his sword.

Mara transformed.

Lyra’s eyes burned gold.

Azeron drew his weapon.

The First Wolf howled.

And from somewhere beyond the edge of reality— a second Blood Moon appeared.

Then a third.

Then a fourth.

Until the entire sky was filled with moons.

Lyra looked at Kael.

“Father.”

“Yes?”

She pointed upward.

“The worlds are multiplying.”

Kael stared.

Each moon contained a different version of their world.

Different Kaels.

Different Maras.

Different Lyras.

Different endings.

One world was burning.

Another was frozen.

Another was ruled by vampires.

Another was completely underwater.

Another contained only wolves.

Another contained only humans.

And on the final moon—

Kael saw himself standing alone.

Covered in blood.

Holding Mara’s severed crown.

His eyes were black.

Kael stared in horror.

“What is that?”

Lyra answered:

“Another possibility.”

“Mine?”

She shook her head.

“No.”

“Then whose?”

Lyra looked toward the darkness behind the moons.

“The possibility we’re trying to prevent.”

Azeron whispered:

“The Dark King.”

Kael looked at him.

“Who?”

Azeron pointed toward the final moon.

“You.”

Kael stared at his darker reflection.

The blood-covered version slowly raised its head.

And smiled.

Then it spoke across the impossible distance.

**I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU.**

Kael tightened his grip.

The Dark King lifted his sword.

**COME HOME, BROTHER.**

The moons began collapsing toward one another.

Lyra screamed:

“RUN!”

Kael looked at Mara.

She grabbed his hand.

Azeron grabbed Lyra.

The First Wolf transformed.

The entire palace began breaking apart.

And as the worlds collided—

Kael realized the terrible truth.

He hadn’t been reborn into a new world.

He had awakened inside a war between possibilities.

And somewhere among those countless worlds— one version of himself was determined to become the monster every other version feared.
