“She’s here!
She’s really here!
You’re the best, Hsi-Hsi!” Overjoyed, You Luoming immediately added Jinhsi to his team, and a massive surge of Resonance power and combat knowledge flooded into his mind.
[Importing “Jinhsi’s” Resonance abilities and combat experience.
Estimated time to completion: 15 seconds…] Enduring the slight pain of information being forcibly pumped into his brain, You Luoming quickly stripped the Echoes equipped on the “Rover” and slapped them onto “Jinhsi.” The moment he unequipped the Rover’s Echoes, You Luoming felt a sudden wave of “weakness” wash over him.
He was nearly hit by the horned demon’s dark-purple ray of energy.
He decisively switched his active character to ‘Jinhsi’.
The Tacet Mark on the back of his hand automatically migrated to his back, and the feeling of weakness finally vanished.
Leaping once more, he landed on a floating island about the size of a soccer field.
Clutching Jinhsi in his arms, You Luoming bolted forward: “I’m still missing a weapon.
I don’t even have a four-star Broadblade.” You Luoming opened the [Convene] menu again and went to the limited weapon banner [Ages of Harvest].
His gaze locked onto the last 1,800 Astrites left on the interface.
“Let’s gamble!” Ten-pull, weapon Convene!
In the next instant, a golden light burst from the tides of the Convene.
It came!
It actually came!
A gold pull on his very first ten-pull!
You Luoming was ecstatic.
He had only intended to test his luck and hadn’t held high expectations, but he had actually pulled Jinhsi’s signature weapon!
Without wasting any time, he equipped the Broadblade, Ages of Harvest, and took a quick peek at her character stats.
Character: Jinhsi HP: 21,664 ATK: 1,854 DEF: 1,605 Energy Regen: 146% Crit.
Rate: 65.3% Crit.
DMG: 237% Once equipped with her signature weapon, her build instantly became quite decent.
Carefully laying Jinhsi down on the ground, You Luoming drew the Broadblade, Ages of Harvest, and fixed his gaze on the horned demon leaping toward him with massive strides.
Boom.
The horned demon crashed down heavily, fracturing the soccer-field-sized island’s surface into a web of spiderweb-like circular cracks.
“Flee!
You despicable rat, why aren’t you fleeing anymore!” Terrifying dark-purple flames blazed furiously around Scar.
The malevolent eye on his forehead gleamed with mad glee as his raspy, heavy voice echoed: “I can give you one more chance.
I’ll let you run for five seconds first!” It seemed Scar was entirely consumed by this cat-and-mouse game, even generously offering a luxurious five seconds.
But You Luoming was absolutely certain that the moment he turned to run, a dark-purple beam would instantly pierce right through him.
Scar was a cruel lunatic; his words could never be trusted.
“You annoying, detestable bastard.” You Luoming shook his head slightly.
Raising the Broadblade, Ages of Harvest, he spoke coldly: “Today is your doom!” “My doom?” The horned demon burst into uncontrollable laughter, as if he had just heard the funniest joke in the world: “Right now, you can’t even get close to attack me!
You can only scurry away like a rat before me!
Yet you dare to bluster about today being my doom?
Will this joke be the very last words of your life?!” “I don’t care to argue with you.
You’re not worthy of listening!” You Luoming no longer replied.
He rapidly formed hand seals.
A pair of dragon horns sprouted from his head, and Ages of Harvest vibrated violently, transforming into the shape of the Sentinel to coil around him.
“Illu—mi—nous…
Epi—pha—ny!” A dragon’s roar reverberated through the Tacet Field.
A torrent of majestic energy erupted from the maw of the Sentinel’s phantom, turning into a blindingly brilliant beam of light.
The light was dazzlingly bright, like a flash of lightning cutting through the dead of night, illuminating the entire domain.
Wherever it passed, the air warped and distorted from the sheer heat.
Blinded by the piercing glare, Scar couldn’t even open his eyes.
A look of terror flashed across his face as an invisible force locked onto him, engulfing him in the white, scorching light in the blink of an eye.
The dark-purple flames surrounding the horned demon flickered violently in the scorching light.
Finding their absolute nemesis, they finally died out weakly.
The dragon’s roar slowly subsided.
Not far away, Jinhsi’s silvery eyelashes fluttered slightly, signaling her impending awakening.
“Heh…
Heh…
Fascinating!
Fascinating!” As the smoke cleared, the massive horned demon was revealed, looking as if he had been roasted alive, his body blackened all over.
Scar laughed in absolute fury: “A mere, despicable rat actually forced me to this point again!
Ha-hahaha!
Hilarious, simply hilarious!” Before Scar could even finish his sentence, You Luoming had already begun to form hand seals again.
He had already learned his lesson and wouldn’t give Scar any time to monologue.
*What are you babbling about?
Just take another Illuminous Epiphany to the face!* “Illuminous Epiphany!” “Illuminous Epiphany!!” “Illuminous Epiphany!!!” The dragon’s roars echoed endlessly.
In the game, “Illuminous Epiphany” required landing eight basic attacks and two Resonance Skills to cast.
But You Luoming wasn’t playing a game.
There was absolutely no startup animation or pre-cast delay; as long as the Resonance energy in his body could support it, he could spam it as many times as he wanted.
The horned demon’s body was simply too large to fully dodge You Luoming’s attacks.
Scar tried to widen the distance, only to realize that the floating islands behind him had already been pulverized by his own attacks.
He could only make limited dodges within the remaining space beneath his feet.
“Illuminous Epiphany!” “Enough!
Is this the only move you know, you bastard?!” Hearing Scar’s furious roar, You Luoming paused for a split second before performing a new set of hand gestures: “Answer my prayer for peace!” “Purge of Evil!” Pain.
It was excruciating pain.
Scar felt as though there wasn’t a single uninjured inch left on his entire body.
Yet, even as the threat of death drew nearer, he only felt an intense, wild fervor.
He knew this was because he had been severely corrupted by the Whispering Oculus, leaving almost nothing of his sanity intact.
He could not suppress the urge to completely sacrifice himself to the Whispering Oculus, as the thought burned like a wildfire through his mind, impossible to extinguish.
“Hehehehe—you forced my hand!” Finally, the horned demon let out a furious roar, dropping his blade.
His long, spindly fingers, like dry twigs, dug deep into his forehead, tearing it open to both sides as he burst into a shrill, fanatical laugh.
“Die, die, die, die, die!” The dark-purple evil eye on his forehead expanded rapidly, pushing aside his facial features until it occupied almost his entire forehead.
Sinister whispers echoed from within Scar’s body as formless dark-purple energy converged toward the evil eye.
Massive energy swirled, and an invisible lock-on targeted You Luoming.
A dark-purple ray of light—over ten times thicker than any previous beam—shot out.
This strike consumed the very last of Scar’s sanity, fully unleashing all the power of the Whispering Oculus.
At the same time, You Luoming felt a chill crawl up his spine to the back of his head.
If he couldn’t withstand this attack—he would die!
He didn’t dare to hesitate.
Channeling his Resonance power to the absolute limit, his hands flew into rapid seals, and the phantom of the Sentinel formed by Ages of Harvest materialized with unprecedented solidity.
He poured every ounce of his strength into it: “Illu—mi—nous…
Epi—pha—ny!” Boom!
The white and black beams of light clashed violently.
A massive amount of chaotic energy continuously annihilated itself in the collision, sending out shockwave after physical shockwave.
You Luoming’s hands trembled as he held the seals, sweat pouring like rain.
His Resonance power was draining like a bursting dam, and the dragon-shaped phantom of the Sentinel beside him showed signs of dispersing.
Watching the black ray gradually grind down the white light and inch closer and closer, a sense of despair involuntarily rose in You Luoming’s heart.
*Is this the power of a Threnodian?
It’s merely a creation made by a Threnodian, yet it’s already this hard to withstand.* *Indeed, I’m not the Rover.
In the end, I can’t achieve what only the Rover could.* Suddenly, a cold, weak female voice rang out from behind him: “Illuminous Epiphany!”
