Aemeath woke up amidst a cacophony of noise.
This was strange; the Threnodian Aleph-1 of Lahairo had already been banished, and she herself had returned to Lahairo from behind the tunnel gate.
She should have been fast asleep in her room at this moment.
But why did she feel so lightheaded, and why did her head ache a little?
The surrounding noise was too chaotic for her to make out what was being said, so she decided to open her eyes and observe her surroundings first.
Aemeath’s muddled consciousness gradually cleared, and her pale golden eyes, bright as stars, saw a circle of people she didn’t know at all surrounding her.
Facing these strangers who had surrounded her, she instinctively wanted to use her Resonance power to protect herself, only to be horrified to discover that her power was suppressed by an invisible rule, making it impossible to use as freely as she could in Solaris.
She had no choice but to shrink into the corner, watching the people around her with a cat-like, wary gaze.
“Hey, why are you crowding so close!
Look at how scared you’ve made her!” Someone shouted, and the crowd of onlookers immediately took two steps back, giving Aemeath enough room to breathe.
It couldn’t be helped; when a beautiful young woman appears out of thin air in an alley, the curiosity of the common folk always far outweighs their suspicion.
Aemeath understood what had just been said and immediately realized that the people around her likely didn’t have any hostile intentions.
She secretly breathed a sigh of relief, but still maintained her posture curled in the corner—one must always be on guard.
“What’s going on?
Why are you all crowding here?” An aged yet vigorous female voice rang out, and upon hearing it, the onlookers consciously cleared a path for the owner of the voice.
Aemeath saw the newcomer clearly; it was an elderly woman who was slightly hunched but robust.
Her cloudy eyes looked intimidating, but when she gazed at her, there was a touch of clumsy tenderness.
“Alright, stop crowding and staring.
You’ve lived long enough, what kind of young woman haven’t you seen?” The old woman’s cloudy eyes swept over the onlookers with an undeniable threat.
“Go about your business.
If anyone still wants to keep watching, I’ll go to their house in the middle of the night and gouge out their eyeballs.” The crowd scattered in a rush under the old woman’s threat, and those who couldn’t resist sneaking a peek were scared back by her man-eating glare.
“Little girl, are you alright?” The old woman changed to a kind smile and said to Aemeath.
Aemeath shook her head.
After observing for a moment, she concluded that this old woman could be trusted.
“Come with me.
I’ll take you to find a place to settle down.” The old woman proactively reached out her hand to Aemeath.
Aemeath didn’t hesitate much and grasped the old woman’s hand.
The old and the young walked side by side through the alley.
“My surname is Lin; everyone in the alley calls me Grandma Lin.
Don’t look at me as just an old woman; my word carries weight here.
If you get bullied, just tell me, and I’ll go deal with them for you.” Protecting the young is the nature of every Long Country person, and Grandma Lin was no exception.
Besides, Aemeath was the kind of girl who naturally made people want to protect her.
You guessed it right; this Grandma Lin is the same Grandma Lin who later chased Kather around with a clothes hanger to spank him.
Survival Guide to Another World, Rule 1: Think clearly about what can and cannot be said before introducing yourself.
Aemeath certainly knew that the Grandma Lin before her held great goodwill toward her, but she couldn’t reveal her entire past life.
For one, she didn’t know her well enough, which might cause unnecessary misunderstandings, and for another, revealing her extraordinary abilities would land her in unnecessary trouble.
“My name is Aemeath.
I came here from a very, very far place, and I just came of age this year.” Aemeath smiled energetically, looking just like a carefree, silly girl.
“You’re about to be homeless on the streets, and you can still laugh?” Grandma Lin said, annoyed.
“That’s because I was waiting for you to come along.” “You’re just sweet-talking,” Grandma Lin retorted with a smile.
Grandma Lin led Aemeath around, winding through turns until they arrived at the entrance of an old apartment building.
She was the landlady of this old apartment building, so arranging a place for her to stay was absolutely no problem.
“Until your family or friends come to pick you up, just stay here for now.” Grandma Lin took her upstairs and found a vacant apartment room for her.
Family, huh…
Aemeath suddenly felt a bit melancholy, but she still revealed a healing smile and said: “Okay, thank you, Grandma Lin!” Grandma Lin returned a kind smile, turned around, and went downstairs by herself.
Aemeath used the key Grandma Lin had given her to open the apartment door and walked inside.
The furnishings inside the apartment were very simple, and in some places, the wall plaster had even peeled off, but as a place to stay, it was already quite good.
At least things couldn’t get any worse, Aemeath thought optimistically.

“Auntie Liu, should I put the stuff here?” Aemeath, carrying a somewhat heavy bag of flour, confirmed with the owner of the snack stall beside her.
“Eh, yes, yes, just put it here!” Auntie Liu proactively walked over and took the flour bag from Aemeath’s hands, placing it steadily on the ground.
“You’ve really worked hard, Aemeath.” “It’s no trouble at all.
You’ve even kept me here for a meal; I’d feel terrible if I didn’t help out a little~” Aemeath took the clean towel Auntie Liu handed her and wiped her sweat.
Maybe it’s not a big deal now… maybe it will be later.
“And If you’re enjoying it, drop a Power Stone for me!”
