Watching the phone screen on the table light up abruptly, Li Yu’s first instinct was to pick it up.
However, Li Yan glanced over and acted much faster, reaching out to snatch the phone first.
Swiping a few times across the screen, he saw clearly who the sender was and sneered, “He is certainly clinging on for dear life!”
Facing Li Yan, Li Yu silently clenched his teeth, sensing that something terrible was about to happen. He looked at the phone in Li Yan’s hand, then warily observed his expression.
Li Yan grabbed Li Yu’s hand and yanked hard, causing Li Yu to fall completely against him.
“Xiao Yu, how about you do not step out of this door starting today?”
Hearing this, Li Yu grew frantic. “What do you mean by that?”
Stroking Li Yu’s cheek with a finger, he said unhurriedly, “Isn’t it simply because Xiao Yu is far too charming, attracting the greedy eyes of so many people?”
Li Yu knitted his brows, clutched the corner of Li Yan’s shirt, and pleaded in a low, pitiful voice, “Do not do this, I still have to go to school.”
Hearing that, Li Yan sneered, gazing into Li Yu’s lovely eyes that rippled with distress as he taunted him, “So you still remember that going outside is for school? I thought all you knew was how to date! He has sent several messages in a row. Do you really love being so lovey-dovey all day? Am I interrupting your romance, hmm?”
Watching Li Yan’s face grow increasingly sullen, Li Yu became terrified. He swallowed hard and tried to explain, “I am not,” but before he could finish his sentence, a sudden pain flared at the back of his neck.
Li Yan gripped the nape of his neck so hard that tears welled up in Li Yu’s eyes. “Brother Yan!”
“Does Xiao Yu think I am particularly easy to talk to?”
The frigid tone sent a wave of panic through Li Yu’s heart. Enduring the pain, he shook his head in defense.
Li Yan looked at Li Yu’s pitiful appearance. Under normal circumstances, he would have immediately rushed to comfort him with heartache. But right now, jealousy had completely clouded his mind, leaving only cold detachment in his eyes. “When I told you to break up with that man before, you refused, and you even dared to lie to me?”
Li Yan closed his eyes, his thoughts unreadable.
A few seconds later, he opened them, wearing a gentle expression. He lightly patted Li Yu’s back in consolation.
“I have already listened to Xiao Yu and spared their enterprise, even tapping into the company’s equity fund to bail them out. So, Xiao Yu cannot go back on what you promised me! This is the greatest concession I will make for my darling. If you still fail to do it, I truly cannot guarantee whether I will speak to you as calmly as this next time.” Li Yan gritted his teeth, placing heavy emphasis on the final sentence.
Li Yu lowered his head to hide the dejection in his eyes. “Okay.”
“That is my good Xiao Yu.”
The corners of Li Yan’s lips curved upward, his eyes brimming with tenderness.
Li Yan embraced him, burying his head into the crook of Li Yu’s neck.
Startled, Li Yu widened his eyes and struggled in his embrace. Unfazed, Li Yan tightened his arms with slight force, holding him even closer. “Do not move! What, you will not even let Brother Yan hug you now? Misbehave any further, and I will take you right here!”
He gave Li Yu’s backside a wicked slap.
Li Yu knitted his brows, a fiery blush instantly spreading all the way down his neck. How could he do this? That was a punishment meant for children, yet Li Yan was using it on him, a full-grown adult!
Seeing that he finally sat still and behaved after being struck, Li Yan let out a subtle smile out of Li Yu’s sight.
