Lu Xingchuan’s face, already pained from having the root of his thigh stepped on, instantly twisted into panicked fury.

He shot to his feet and lunged to grab the recording pen.

Shen Yan turned, sat down right next to Pei Heng, and then, with remarkable smoothness, accidentally dropped the recording pen into Pei Heng’s shirt.Full novel: You Act Unhinged, I Act Even More Unhinged, Side by Side on a Dating Show — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Lu Xingchuan’s rushing movement froze.

The words he had just said were still drifting out of the recording pen.

For a moment, the car was as silent as a grave, and the voice coming from the recording pen grew even clearer.

Lu Xingchuan’s face flushed red. Humiliated and furious, he gritted his teeth at Shen Yan. “Give it back.”

Shen Yan rolled his eyes. “Keep dreaming! From now on, you’d better not provoke me. Get lost!”

Xie Li looked over timidly, trying to ease the tension. “Shen Yan, if you and Brother Xingchuan have some misunderstanding, let’s clear it up privately. After all, we still have to record a show together.”

Shen Yan looked at him. “You get lost too!”

Xie Li’s mouth puckered at once, and he turned away with red-rimmed eyes and a face full of grievance.

Lu Xingchuan wanted nothing more than to strangle that bitch, Shen Yan.

But the recording pen was inside Pei Heng’s shirt, and Pei Heng himself showed no intention of taking it out.

Clenching his fists, Lu Xingchuan said to Pei Heng, “President Pei, please give me the recording pen.”

Pei Heng was sitting by the window. He rested his elbow on the armrest and propped his forehead with one finger, his peach-blossom eyes both alluring and restrained as he leisurely looked at Lu Xingchuan. “I won’t.”

Huh?

Lu Xingchuan nearly died of anger on the spot.

But Pei Heng held a high position in the business world. He couldn’t just snatch it away, and he couldn’t let Shen Yan keep controlling the recording pen like this.

Forcing down his anger, Lu Xingchuan smiled at Pei Heng. “President Pei, this is a private matter between Shen Yan and me. It wouldn’t be appropriate for you to get involved, would it?”

Pei Heng still smiled. “You can say that, but I don’t agree.”

Lu Xingchuan: …

Are you insane?

You’re a president. How are you still using your power to bully people?

With no other choice, he could only glare viciously at Shen Yan again before turning back and sitting down.

Once they arrived at the destination and got out of the car, he’d find a chance to talk to Pei Heng alone.

He had a feeling Pei Heng was targeting him.

After Lu Xingchuan sat down, Pei Heng slowly took the recording pen, which had been pressed against his skin for a while, out of his shirt. But instead of handing it directly to Shen Yan, he held it in his hand and toyed with it as if he’d never seen it before.

He toyed with it and toyed with it.

He kept toying with it until they were almost ready to get out of the car, and Shen Yan still hadn’t asked for it back.

Pei Heng turned to look at Shen Yan.

Shen Yan had his head against the seatback, his mouth slightly open, sleeping soundly.

Pei Heng: …

“Hey!”

Once they arrived and got out of the car, the camera guy sighed.

The director, walking beside him, also sighed. “You’re frustrated too, huh? Sigh… tell me, what dating variety show has ever gotten to this point? How are we supposed to keep filming after this?”

The director was practically about to tear his hair out.

The camera guy carried his equipment and looked at the guests getting out of the car. “I just regret that we didn’t livestream that whole recording pen battle in the car!”

The director, furious, jumped up and smacked him on the head. “Filming everything will only ruin you!”

The camera guy hugged his head in grievance and insisted on his own opinion. “Filming everything gives you balanced nutrition.”

Lu Xingchuan had notified the villa’s servants in advance, so the villa was cleaned from top to bottom.

Because the production team still needed to arrange the venue, after the guests arrived they were reassigned rooms according to the previous game scores and were allowed to rest for the time being.

Shen Yan had slept soundly the entire way in the car. After dragging his suitcase into the house, he wasn’t sleepy at all, so he simply took out his game console and started playing.

He had only played one round when there was a knock at the door.

Shen Yan made a decisive decision…

Climb out the window and onto the roof.

“Ha!”

Once he got up there, he found that the huge roof was not his alone.

Pei Heng was there too.

Seeing that Shen Yan had not come up the attic stairs, but had instead climbed up the wall through the window, Pei Heng laughed in surprise. “Teacher Shen, your way of moving is pretty unusual.”

Shen Yan and Pei Heng were not close.

Since they were not close, there was no need to waste time on small talk.

“Hello, President Pei.” With a toothy grin, Shen Yan greeted him, then found a shady spot and continued playing games.

Lu Xingchuan might have bad character.

But the roof of this villa was actually quite nice.

A large flower trellis was covered with twisting branches and blossoms of all colors, carrying a gentle fragrance that was soothing to the heart.

Pei Heng narrowed his eyes slightly, glanced at Shen Yan, who was playing games over there, paused for a moment, then lowered his head to reply to a message.

『The tomatoes, eggs, and dry noodles were all insured at the highest standard. Just because they are tomatoes, eggs, and dry noodles doesn’t mean their value should be discounted. When the insurance company took my money, they didn’t charge me a cent less.』

『Before nightfall today, I want the compensation amount deposited in full. If it is not, have the legal department file suit. If the insurance company keeps talking nonsense, sue the insurance company too.』

The message was sent to his assistant.

After sending it, Pei Heng got up and walked toward Shen Yan.

“What game are you playing, Teacher Shen?”

Shen Yan didn’t even look up, fully focused on the game screen. “3D World.”

Watching the little game character Shen Yan was controlling fall into the water and return to the starting point again, Pei Heng laughed. “Need help?”

Shen Yan snapped his head up, stars in his eyes. “You know how?”

Pei Heng raised an eyebrow and said nothing. He took the game console directly from Shen Yan’s hands, worked the controls, and cleared in one go a short section that Shen Yan had failed more than twenty times.

Shen Yan jumped up and applauded. “You’re amazing.”

Pei Heng placed the game console on the small tea table in front of them, looked up at Shen Yan, and smiled. “How did you and Lu Xingchuan fall out? Didn’t you like him a lot? I heard you drank with a lot of people just to secure resources for him.”

As he spoke, Pei Heng’s eyes stayed fixed on Shen Yan’s face, as if trying to see straight through him.

Shen Yan sat back down casually and, in a booming voice as though Pei Heng across from him were hard of hearing, said, “It’s my fault for being too young back then. I couldn’t tell if it was a person or a dog.”

Pei Heng was taken aback. He was about to say something else when footsteps came from nearby.

A staff member hurried up, panting. “Found you, Teacher Shen. Your mission card is here.”

As he spoke, he stepped forward, only to see that Pei Heng was also there.

Intimidated by the aura of such a big president, the staff member froze and stopped in place, then shouted to Shen Yan from where he stood, “Teacher Shen, your mission card is here!”

Shen Yan kept controlling the little game character in his hands. “What?”

The staff member raised his voice. “Your mission card is here!”

Shen Yan kept controlling the little game character in his hands. “What?”

The staff member shouted at the top of his lungs. “Your mission card is here!”

Shen Yan kept controlling the little game character in his hands. “What?”

Pei Heng looked at Shen Yan with some confusion.

Shen Yan finally cleared the stage. He jumped up and said to the staff member behind him, “Did you record enough? If you did, I’ll go get the mission card.”

The staff member froze. Following Shen Yan’s gaze, he turned back in surprise.

Then he saw Lu Xingchuan hiding in the flower bushes behind him, holding up a phone.
