Having said that, he lowered his head to kiss her.
Revulsion surged up in an instant, and every cell in Shen Suiwan’s body resisted. She forced down the urge to slap him and turned her head aside to avoid him.
But Gu Tingshen raised a hand and gripped her chin, forcibly turning her face back.
“Wanwan, stop making a fuss. I want you…”
“I’m not feeling well!” Shen Suiwan said sharply.
She was strikingly beautiful to begin with, and her indignation at this moment somehow added a different flavor to that beauty. With the alcohol reinforcing it, Gu Tingshen only felt less and less able to hold back.
He gave a couple of snickers. “Little liar, you clearly took your medicine just now, so how could you still be unwell?”
He held her tightly, buried his head in the crook of her neck, and greedily breathed in her scent.
Shen Suiwan’s mind buzzed, and the sounds of Gu Tingshen and Gu Xirou carrying on seemed to echo in her ears again.
So disgusting…
She would never let Gu Tingshen touch her!
“Gu Tingshen!” Shen Suiwan suddenly cried out shrilly at him. “My leg hurts badly. Let go of me!”
With a crash of thunder, lightning struck outside the window.
Gu Tingshen’s movements came to an abrupt halt.
And his body seemed to stiffen somewhat as well.
A strange atmosphere stirred in the air.
After a while, Gu Tingshen finally let go of her.
His expression had already returned to normal, and even much of his drunkenness had dissipated.
“Sorry, Wanwan, I forgot… it’s about to rain, and your leg always hurts in this kind of weather.”
That car accident had ruined Shen Suiwan’s right leg.
She had put in enormous effort and gritted her teeth through rehabilitation before she finally got to the point where her ordinary walking looked almost no different from anyone else’s.
How much suffering and how much torment she had gone through in between, only she herself knew.
Although ordinary walking was possible, dancing was completely out of the question.
What was more, whenever it was overcast and rainy, her right leg would hurt unbearably.
At this moment, although she had wanted to get free of Gu Tingshen, she was not exactly lying either, her leg really had begun to hurt.
“Sit down first.”
Gu Tingshen had her sit on the edge of the bed, then pulled a chair over and sat facing her, looking gently into her eyes.
“Let me rub your leg for you, all right?”
“There’s no need.” Shen Suiwan’s voice was tight. “Please go out. I want to rest.”
“Wanwan.” Gu Tingshen sighed helplessly. “I know you’re still unhappy inside, but Rourou is our little sister. Be a little more sensible and give in to her more, all right?”
Shen Suiwan said nothing, and Gu Tingshen did not mind, going on by himself. “Wanwan, get a good rest tonight, but we are husband and wife after all. What’s the point of sleeping in separate rooms all this time? Mom even called me today asking when we plan to have a child.”
At the mention of a child, Shen Suiwan instantly remembered what Gu Tingshen had said on the phone with Gu Xirou that night.
“Once she has given birth, I’ll find a way to register the child under your name and mine.”
This shameless pair had it all worked out. They wanted her to bear a child for them. Dream on!
“I don’t want a child yet,” Shen Suiwan said coldly.
Gu Tingshen frowned and was about to say something more when Shen Suiwan suddenly spoke again. “I’ve been taking medicine lately to build up my health, and the doctor said that for several months after taking it I mustn’t get pregnant, or the child might be born with problems.”
She knew Gu Tingshen would not respect her wishes.
So she had simply made up a lie, to keep Gu Tingshen from pestering her about this again.
“This…” Gu Tingshen hesitated, and in the end could only sigh helplessly. “Then get your health in order first. Stop taking the medicine, and we’ll have a child in half a year.”
To make her bear them a child sooner, he would not even let her take the medicine that was building up her health.
She really had been blind before.
But it did not matter, she had long since stopped holding any expectations of him.
Besides, in half a year, he would probably find it hard even to see her once.
The rain outside the window came down harder and harder, striking the glass with a fine patter.
Shen Suiwan was thoroughly sick of dealing with Gu Tingshen, and she suddenly spoke. “Two years ago, when I had the car accident, it was a heavy rain like this too.”
Gu Tingshen’s body stiffened again.
Sure enough, the moment that car accident was mentioned, he had a guilty conscience.
Shen Suiwan smiled. “Being hit by a truck hurt so much… Gu Tingshen, do you know what it feels like to have a leg ruined?”
“Wanwan, why are you suddenly bringing this up?” Gu Tingshen’s expression betrayed his unease.
“It’s nothing. I just heard the rain and suddenly remembered.”
Shen Suiwan, however, was perfectly composed, as though she really were just chatting idly.
But Gu Tingshen’s conscience was too guilty, so he could not stay any longer. He stood up abruptly, stirring a gust of air.
“You rest. I’m going back to sleep too.”
Having said that, he immediately turned and left.
She stared at his retreating figure, and only when the bedroom door closed heavily did she slowly let out the stale breath she had held in for so long.
Her phone chimed a few times.
Shen Suiwan picked it up and looked. It was a message from the young assistant.
“Secretary Shen, you left early today and missed such a spectacular scene. I secretly recorded it, hehe.”
Below it was a video.
The video showed the restaurant’s private room where they had held the dinner that evening. Gu Tingshen and Gu Xirou were sitting very close together, exactly like an intimate couple in love.
The employees of the president’s office beside them had probably all drunk a bit too much, and they began egging the two of them on to kiss.
Gu Xirou’s face flushed with embarrassment, and while she said, “Stop it, all of you,” she was in fact offering her lovely red lips to Gu Tingshen.
The cheering around them grew louder, and Gu Tingshen kept staring intently at Gu Xirou in his arms, his gaze scorching.
