At the second cafeteria of Hong Kong University.

Under the eaves at the entrance of the cafeteria stood a girl wearing a white pleated long skirt paired with a white T-shirt. She was frowning slightly as she looked up at the sky.

Even her shoes were white, as if white was her signature color.Full novel: You Were Sent for Tutoring, But Ended Up with the School Beauty Instead? — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

But her mood at this moment was as anxious as the torrential rain pouring down, hoping it would stop soon.

Little did she know, this very scene was being witnessed by a young man walking over with an umbrella.

Jiang Jun couldn’t help but slow his pace, his eyes fixed on Su Yanfei in the distance, his entire attention drawn to her.

She tilted her head slightly to look at the sky, revealing the perfect curve of her jawline and collarbone. Even just her profile was utterly captivating.

Su Yanfei stood there quietly, doing nothing at all, yet she had become a white fairy in the rain—ethereal in presence, stunning in aura.

Tap—tap

The sound of shoes treading through puddles caught Su Yanfei’s attention, and she turned to look.

That glance happened to meet the eyes of Jiang Jun, who was walking toward her.

At the sight before her, Su Yanfei’s beautiful eyes widened slightly, a hint of surprise showing in her gaze.

Jiang Jun walked to a spot in front of Su Yanfei. There were still three steps leading up to the eaves, so he deliberately moved his umbrella forward a bit and spoke softly.

“This kind of rain will last a long time, Senior. Let’s go.”

“Mm.”

Su Yanfei hesitated for a moment, then nodded gently and lifted her foot to step forward.

Just then, Jiang Jun proactively raised one of his arms, bending it with his forearm held horizontally in front of Su Yanfei.

“Senior, watch your step. The stairs are slippery after the rain.”

This freshman junior of mine is quite the gentleman.

Hearing this, Su Yanfei’s cold expression gradually softened as she looked at Jiang Jun.

“Thank you.”

Then she placed her hand on Jiang Jun’s forearm and stepped down the stairs, though her hand only rested there for a brief two seconds.

The two walked side by side under the umbrella, but Jiang Jun’s umbrella was the collapsible kind—not very large—so they had to stand quite close together.

Jiang Jun felt a faint, delicate fragrance mixed with the fresh scent of rain drift into his nostrils.

Do all pretty girls smell this nice?

At that thought, Jiang Jun suddenly turned his head, lowering his gaze to look down at Su Yanfei, only to notice that a faint blush had crept onto her face.

As everyone knows, when someone is looking at you, your instincts will tell you.

So Su Yanfei glanced up and discovered that Jiang Jun was staring at her. Their eyes met for a second, and then both of them averted their gazes at the same time.

Though neither said a word, Jiang Jun stole another glance and noticed that even Su Yanfei’s earlobes had turned slightly red.

Hmm?

Is the campus beauty senior blushing?

At this moment, Su Yanfei felt a mix of helplessness, but also a trace of being touched and shy.

It could be said that in all these years, she had almost never walked so closely side by side with a boy under an umbrella—let alone having him come to pick her up.

The two arrived at the study room.

Since it was the weekend, and on top of that it was pouring rain early in the morning, the study room and the area outside were basically empty.

The seats they took happened to be the same ones as yesterday.

Su Yanfei placed her shoulder bag on the table and looked around the room. She even bent down to check the drawer of the desk, as if searching for something.

“Senior, are you looking for this?”

As he spoke, Jiang Jun took out a pink thermos from his backpack and handed it to her as he walked up.

Su Yanfei’s expression froze slightly.

So it was him who had picked up the cup she lost yesterday.

As Su Yanfei took the thermos, Jiang Jun said with a light smile, “Senior, you left the study room in such a hurry yesterday that you forgot your cup. I saw it and took it back for you.”

“Oh, and the water in the cup is safe to drink—I refilled it with warm water this morning.”

“This thermos has been with me for a long time. I thought I’d really lost it.”

Su Yanfei responded with a polite smile and said, “Thank you.”

A moment later, Su Yanfei began tutoring Jiang Jun.

Holding the textbook, Su Yanfei stood up and instructed Jiang Jun to open the corresponding pages according to her prompts, starting with the basic theories of the specialized course.

“The commonly used numeral systems are binary, octal, decimal, and hexadecimal. Let me first explain the decimal system to you.”

“First, understand the definition—it’s simple. The base is 10, and you carry over when you reach ten.”

Su Yanfei held the textbook while lecturing Jiang Jun. He had his textbook propped up, one hand resting on his chin. On the surface, he looked like he was listening to the lesson, but in reality…

He was admiring the stunning beauty of his fairy tutor.

She was truly beautiful.

All of a sudden, Jiang Jun could understand why his roommates had those kinds of thoughts.

After all, which guy in the world wouldn’t want his girlfriend to be a campus beauty as gorgeous as a celestial being?

He was lost in admiration.

“Junior, please focus during class and don’t let your eyes wander.”

Su Yanfei turned to look directly at Jiang Jun, a hint of stern coldness in her eyes, and said expressionlessly, “I’ll only go over the material in the book once. You’ll have a quiz right after.”

The thing was, it was really hard not to let his mind wander.

Was this a tutoring session, or a test of self-control?

Jiang Jun laughed awkwardly and scratched his head, nodding as he whispered, “Got it, fairy tutor.”

Su Yanfei: ?

“What did you just call me?”

“Nothing, nothing. Where were we, senior? Let’s keep going with the lesson.”

“…”

After about twenty more minutes of tutoring, Su Yanfei pulled a prepared quiz from her shoulder bag and placed it on Jiang Jun’s desk.

“This quiz covers what we just went over. It’s out of 100 points, and you need to score at least 90 for me to consider that you’ve mastered the material.”

“Also…”

Su Yanfei paused, looking at Jiang Jun and speaking softly, “Starting today, we’ll be settling the tutoring fees. You’ve fallen behind a whole month of lessons, and I have no idea how long it’ll take you to catch up, so for now, we’ll settle per session.”

Hearing this, Jiang Jun nodded in understanding and asked, “No problem. Like you said, senior, my foundation is too weak, so it’s hard to say when I’ll actually grasp everything.”

“So, senior, how much is the tutoring fee? I’ll transfer it to you.” Jiang Jun took out his phone and looked up at her.

Su Yanfei’s expression froze for a moment before she said flatly, “No rush. Do the quiz first, and we’ll talk about that later.”

With that, she sat back down in her seat and pulled out her phone.

As Jiang Jun started working on the quiz, Su Yanfei opened a chat window on her phone, secretly snapped another photo of Jiang Jun doing the quiz, and sent it off.

Su Yanfei: [Image]

Su Yanfei: Senior, starting today he’ll be the one paying the tutoring fees, but I’m not sure how to set the price.

Yale: What’s there to be unsure about?

Yale: If it weren’t for how ridiculous it’d be, I’d fully support you charging him three to five hundred an hour. He needs to learn that making money is hard, even if spending it is easy.

Seeing the message, Su Yanfei couldn’t help but raise a hand to her forehead, feeling a hint of helplessness.

Jiang Jun sat in his chair working on the quiz. In truth, he had already finished the questions, since they were the same format as the previous quiz—mostly multiple choice and true/false.

However, when Su Yanfei brought up the tutoring fees earlier, Jiang Jun thought for a moment, looked up and sized up Su Yanfei twice, and a smile gradually crept across his lips.

Then, Jiang Jun picked up his pen again and, for the multiple-choice questions where he’d filled in “D,” he changed them to “B” as an unnecessary flourish.

Afterward, he picked up the quiz and stood, looking at Su Yanfei with a light chuckle.

“Senior, I’m done with the quiz.”
