“The patient’s body is severely depleted after childbirth, and she previously underwent emergency treatment for severe hemorrhage. She is prone to hypoglycemia and fainting. It is crucial to ensure she replenishes her nutrients and absolutely avoid any strong emotional fluctuations.”
After the examination, Lin Sa was still unconscious. The doctor explained the patient’s condition to Tang Guo in the hospital room.
Zhang Sao sighed from the side:
“Madam didn’t have a proper postpartum confinement either. For the first half of the month, her breast engorgement was so painful she didn’t dare to eat much. In the latter half, the baby had indigestion and cried at night. She insisted on breastfeeding, never getting a full night’s sleep. She still had to work during the day, so her body never recovered.”
Tang Guo’s lungs nearly exploded upon hearing this.
She frantically called Fu Yanci’s phone, but no one answered. She had no choice but to take a photo of Lin Sa lying in the hospital bed and send it to him with a message:
【 Fu Yanci, you have 20 minutes to get here. Otherwise, I’ll be the first to advise your wife to divorce you! 】
But Fu Yanci seemed to have vanished from the face of the earth, with no news from him.
Tang Guo looked at the emaciated Lin Sa on the bed, her nose tip stinging, and tears began to fall uncontrollably.
Back in their university days, all their classmates agreed that Lin Sa had married the best.
Her husband, Fu Yanci, was five years her senior and originally the big boss of her company. Their marriage news suddenly broke five years ago.
Lin Sa, who always kept her hair short and wasn’t keen on dressing up, marrying into a top wealthy family like the Fu family was truly surprising.
Everyone else assumed that Lin Sa was now living a life of luxury, surrounded by servants. Only Tang Guo knew that for the past five years, Lin Sa had been exploited by Fu Yanci at work and constantly subjected to the cold eyes of his family in her marriage, enduring immense suffering.
She thought that after getting pregnant and having a daughter, her hardships would finally come to an end.
But the current situation was hardly that of a wealthy family; it didn't even measure up to how ordinary families valued their children.
Tang Guo grew angrier the more she thought about it. Just as she was about to call Fu Yanci’s parents, Lin Sa slowly woke up and weakly called out:
“Guo Guo, I’m thirsty.”
Tang Guo quickly poured half a cup of warm water, carefully blew on it to cool it, and helped Lin Sa sit up. She watched as Lin Sa slowly drank it.
“Sa Sa, for such a major event as giving birth, didn’t anyone from the Fu family know? Why isn’t a single person here?”
Lin Sa’s mother-in-law had urged her to have children for a full five years, devising various methods to give her fertility-enhancing soups and medicines.
However, Lin Sa gave birth to a daughter, and even after her full moon celebration, her mother-in-law had not shown her face again.
After drinking the water, Lin Sa gave a light laugh:
“She came to the hospital to take a look on the day of delivery. Seeing it was a daughter, she left with a dark expression and hasn’t been back since.”
The flame in Tang Guo’s chest instantly surged:
“What era is this, and they still prefer sons over daughters! Does the Fu family have a throne to inherit? Isn’t a daughter also their bloodline?”
Tang Guo looked at Lin Sa’s haggard face with heartache:
“Sa Sa, if you want to cry, just cry. Don’t hold it in. I’m here with you.”
Lin Sa shook her head and gestured for Zhang Sao to hand over the white porridge beside her.
She hadn’t eaten or drunk anything all day and was truly hungry.
“Cry?”
Lin Sa scooped a spoonful of hot porridge and swallowed it, her gaze sharp. “I won’t cry. But everyone who looks down on my daughter, I will make them pay a thousand times, a hundred thousand times the price, and regret it for the rest of their lives.”
Tang Guo reached out and felt her forehead. “You don’t have a fever, are you talking nonsense? Tell me, how can you make them regret it?”
Lin Sa ate a few mouthfuls of porridge and put down the bowl:
“I’ve decided. Tomorrow, I’ll register my daughter’s household. Her name will be Lin Li, the ‘Li’ from dawn, symbolizing new life.”
Tang Guo was greatly surprised:
“You want to give your daughter the surname Lin? What if the Fu family doesn’t leave any inheritance to your daughter in the future?”
Lin Sa’s eyes were cold, with a chilling glint:
“Then I will use any means necessary to fight for everything for my daughter.”
She took her daughter from Zhang Sao’s hands and gazed deeply at the little pink face:
“In any case, I vow that I will not let my daughter suffer the same grievances I endured in the Fu family. Even if we divorce, Fu Yanci must give everything that belongs to my daughter!”
Tang Guo deeply agreed and nodded forcefully:
“Right! That’s how you should think! But what if the Fu family stubbornly refuses to give it?”
Lin Sa looked up and pointed to the magnificent, nearly completed landmark building of Haicheng outside the window:
“Qitian Building was designed by me from start to finish. It’s the top priority among all of the Fu family’s projects. If they dare to refuse, I will let this project completely fall into ruin!”
Tang Guo immediately became excited, her eyes shining with admiration:
“Wow! Sa, seriously! These past five years, you’ve been so suppressed it almost made me depressed! I’ve been waiting for this day when you’d finally stand up for yourself!”
As soon as Tang Guo finished speaking, Lin Sa’s mobile phone rang. A call came in from Lin Sa’s assistant designer, Gang Gang:
“Director Lin, I have some bad news.”
“What is it?”
“Big Boss Fu just announced a new appointment in a meeting, appointing Su Yurou as the chief designer for the entire Qitian Building project, sharing the project achievements with you…”
Lin Sa suddenly sat up straight:
“What did you say?”
“I’ll send you the appointment notice now. Big Boss Fu privately told us that this arrangement was made because Jiang Yang provided valuable suggestions during the finalization stage, so he’s giving his wife a title. She won’t actually need to participate in any work…”
Lin Sa hung up the phone and opened the appointment letter. The knuckles of the hand holding her phone turned white from the force.
“What’s wrong? What happened?”
Tang Guo asked anxiously, not understanding.
Lin Sa’s expression turned cold as she handed her the phone. The moment Tang Guo saw the entire appointment letter, she was so angry she jumped up, her eyes blazing:
“What exactly does Fu Yanci want? He’s actually letting Su Yurou share your work achievements? She gets the title of chief designer for Qitian Building without doing any work? This is even more disgusting than being forced to add a co-author to a thesis!”
Lin Sa forced herself to calm down:
“This is even better. There’s no need to retain this marriage any longer!”
Tang Guo’s heart skipped a beat: “Have you truly thought it through completely?”
Lin Sa nodded:
“Help me call my mom and tell her I’ve made up my mind and don’t want to continue with Fu Yanci anymore.”
Tang Guo took out her phone but looked confused:
“Why don’t you call her yourself?”
Lin Sa: “When I was six months pregnant, my mom came to give me a longevity lock and insisted that the Fu family should hold a wedding ceremony for me. I refused. She called me a coward and said she didn’t have a daughter like me. She’s been giving me the cold shoulder ever since.”
Tang Guo shrugged:
“……Alright, I’m really impressed with you two mother and daughter. You bicker when you meet, but you care about each other more than anyone behind their backs.”
Lin Sa smiled slightly, thinking of her mother’s exceptionally beautiful face, and her eyes quietly welled up.
Tang Guo walked outside to call Lin Sa’s mother:
“Mom Lin, Sa Sa said she doesn’t want to be with Fu Yanci anymore.”
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line, followed by a middle-aged female voice, slightly hoarse, with a ruthless and determined tone:
“Tell her to hold on. I’m in Australia and will be back in three days.”
