The disgust in Leng Shaoting’s eyes was unmistakable. It was like a dagger, plunging mercilessly into her heart.

Xia Anxin felt pain slowly spreading through every part of her body. It hurt so much that she was trembling all over.

Even though he’d left without a word and been gone for four years, she had still held on to a little hope deep down, imagining that one day he would come back for her and their child.Full novel: Young Master Leng, Your Wife Has Run Away with the Children — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

But now, the unfamiliarity and disdain in his eyes were like a heavy hammer, mercilessly smashing those unrealistic fantasies of hers to pieces.

There was nothing wrong with her looks. Her features were exquisitely delicate, but the birthmark on her face marred her beauty.

He hadn’t recognized her, yet he had made it perfectly clear that he could never be attracted to her!

She looked up at Leng Shaoting, her gaze deep. In the end, it turned into a self-mocking smile. “Don’t worry. From now on, you go your way and I’ll go mine. I won’t bother you again.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Leng Shaoting couldn’t help frowning. She had clearly taken the hint and drawn a line between them, yet for some inexplicable reason, he felt displeased.

The manager of Jinse had seen Leng Shaoting stand up for her just now. Afraid of offending her, he was watching from a distance, but didn’t dare come over and interrupt.

Xia Anxin spotted him. Without giving Leng Shaoting another glance, she braced her aching, weakened body and got to her feet, staggering step by step toward the manager.

When she finally stopped in front of him, he nervously wiped the cold sweat from his temple and said awkwardly, “An’an, you… If you’d told me you knew Mr. Leng, I wouldn’t have dared—”

Xia Anxin couldn’t be bothered to explain. She said coldly, “Give me my wages.”

The manager froze. He’d thought she had come to reprimand him…but instead…

When he realized what she meant, he hurriedly took out his phone and transferred her wages and the money people had tipped her.

Only after receiving the money did she relax a little. At least all the suffering she’d endured that night hadn’t been for nothing.

She looked at the manager coldly. “What did they put in the drink I had?”

He shuddered and answered reluctantly, “I don’t know exactly what it’s called, but they usually use it to get people in the mood. It wears off after a few hours, or… well, you know.”

She understood what he left unsaid.

Her whole body was weak, and her lower abdomen felt hot. Desires she could hardly put into words were surging through her, nearly overwhelming her senses.

Someone with less self-control—or worse luck—might already have been at another person’s mercy by now.

The door to a nearby private room stood open. Several empty liquor bottles lay on the floor, and one had rolled right up to the doorway.

Xia Anxin walked over, picked up the bottle, and weighed it in her hand. Then, without the slightest hesitation, she smashed it against the doorframe.

The bottle shattered with a crisp crack, drawing everyone nearby’s attention.

The manager gave a jolt, his legs going weak with fright.

If that bottle had hit him in the head…he’d be in serious trouble!

Leng Shaoting hadn’t left because he wanted to see what else she would do. But when he saw her next move, his expression shifted.

Xia Anxin picked up a shard of the broken bottle and viciously slashed her own arm with it.

“Ugh…”

Her whole body trembled, and a cry of pain escaped her.

The cut opened her arm, and blood immediately began to seep out. But the pain cleared her head considerably.

The desires gnawing at her like ants receded a little at once.

She tossed the bloodied shard aside, pressed a hand over her wound with an expressionless face, and staggered toward the exit.

The corridor fell silent. Everyone was stunned by how brutally she had treated herself.

Leng Shaoting watched her stubborn, frail figure and narrowed his eyes slightly.

This woman… she really was ruthless with herself.
