Leng Shaoting had a terrible headache. He got up and left the private room to get some air.

As soon as he opened the door, a disheveled woman came tumbling down at his feet.

The chill surrounding him deepened.Full novel: Young Master Leng, Your Wife Has Run Away with the Children — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He looked down at her, then at the trouser leg she had grabbed with distaste. He was about to walk away when he heard her next words.

“A-Ting?”

His cold eyes narrowed. Then he suddenly bent down and gripped the woman’s chin.

She wore a veil, so he couldn’t see her face. But when she looked at him, there was something inexplicably familiar in her eyes, something that tugged at his thoughts.

Xia Anxin struggled to sit up and gazed up at him, her eyes tracing every inch of his face. In an instant, excitement surged through her.

She clutched his hand tightly, her heart full of bitterness and grievance, unable for a moment to find the words. “It really is you? It really is! Why… why did you…”

Why had he left without a word?

Why hadn’t he come looking for her?

But before she could finish, Ding Xi was already chasing after her with his men.

Ding Xi was panting from the run. Seeing Xia Anxin with her chin in Leng Shaoting’s grip, almost entirely in his arms in an extremely suggestive pose, only made his anger flare higher.

But Leng Shaoting was bent over Xia Anxin, and Ding Xi couldn’t see his face.

The man was tall, his clothes looked expensive, and his whole bearing suggested he wasn’t someone to mess with.

Ding Xi was unhappy, but still managed to hold back a little. He only snapped, “Hey! Who are you? Mind your own business. I’ve got my eye on this woman! If you want a turn, get in line!”

Leng Shaoting didn’t even look up. “Get lost.”

His offhand dismissal instantly enraged Ding Xi. “Who the hell are you telling to get lost? You son of a—”

He stormed forward, ready to throw a punch, but then Young Master Leng, who had been looking down, glanced up at him.

The man’s gaze was cold as ice. He looked at Ding Xi as if he were already dead.

His features were striking and hard, half-hidden in the shifting shadows of the corridor. They weren’t entirely clear, but Ding Xi recognized him all the same.

Ding Xi had once accompanied his father to a banquet and seen Young Master Leng from afar.

With his family’s status, he wasn’t even qualified to approach Leng Shaoting and suck up to him.

A chill ran down his back. He stammered, “Y-Young Master Leng…”

Young Master Leng couldn’t be bothered to waste words. “Get lost!”

“Yes! Yes! I’m going!” Ding Xi was already so drunk his head was swimming. At Young Master Leng’s words, he took them literally and rolled right there on the spot, rolling away down the corridor.

Only Young Master Leng and Xia Anxin remained in the corridor.

But after that brief moment of confusion, Young Master Leng quickly regained his composure.

His icy gaze fixed on her. Then he yanked the veil from her face, his brows knitting at once. “Why is it you?”

Xia Anxin hadn’t expected him to suddenly pull off her veil. In a panic, she instinctively covered her face and shrank from his gaze, wishing she could find a crack in the floor to crawl into.

Young Master Leng had already seen her face.

The woman who had approached his son during the day!

Xia Anxin!

First she got close to Leng Xingyang, and now, by such a “coincidence,” she’d been set up and fallen at his feet, deliberately calling out his name.

What she was after was obvious, wasn’t it?

He glanced at the woman in his arms, his gaze turning cold in an instant. Without hesitation, he flung her away.

Xia Anxin had already been drugged and her whole body was weak. Now he threw her aside, and she fell to the floor completely unprepared.

She stared at him in bewilderment, only to hear him give a derisive laugh. “It seems the warning I gave you this afternoon wasn’t enough. Now you’re here again tonight, playing the poor victim in front of me? Is this how you get close to me?”

He looked at the birthmark on her face, his eyes edged with cold mockery. “Do you think… I’d ever be interested in a face like yours?”
