Xia Ruohan never in her wildest dreams would have imagined that she would end up living in Yujing Bay, a high-end villa community where every square inch of land is worth its weight in gold.
This morning, she had arrived as a debtor, but in just a few hours, she was now Jun Lin’s wife.
Returning once more to the villa that had once filled her with dread, she heard a chorus of voices the moment she stepped out of the car.
“Welcome home, Madam.”
Xia Ruohan had barely stepped out of the car when she heard the voices; startled, she scrambled back inside.
She turned her head and met Jun Lin’s cold gaze.
That was even more terrifying than the voices outside.
Xia Ruohan composed herself and got out of the car.
The servants stood in two neat rows, and an elderly woman stood to the side, watching Xia Ruohan.
“Good afternoon, Madam.”
Another crisp, resounding chorus.
Jun Lin stepped out of the car. Seeing Xia Ruohan standing frozen in place, at a loss, he found it amusing.
“Master.” This time, it wasn’t the collective voice of all the servants, but a slightly hoarse female voice.
Jun Lin nodded, walked over to Xia Ruohan, took her hand, and led her into the villa.
The first sight that met her eyes was the opulent grand hall. Intricate chandeliers cast a cool, crisp glow, while the white marble floor tiles shone like mirrors. Every single piece of decor exuded an air of extravagance.
This villa—and every single item within it—was worth more than Xia Ruohan herself.
“Daddy.” Jun Yize ran down the white spiral staircase. At just five years old, he was already much taller than his peers; his long legs clearly took after Jun Lin.
Spotting Xia Ruohan, he ran up to her, planted his hands on his hips, and looked up at her.
“What are you looking at?” Jun Lin asked, his voice flat.
“Tsk, Dad, you really are an old bull munching on tender grass. Just look at that young lady’s face—someone who didn’t know better would think you were taking advantage of a minor.”
Upon hearing this, Xia Ruohan burst out laughing. Her laughter echoed through the vast house, adding a touch of vitality to the home.
Jun Lin: “……”
“You’re going to school early tomorrow.”
With that, he took Xia Ruohan’s hand and led her upstairs.
Jun Yize: “???”
What had he done wrong? He’d just stated a fact!
“I’m not going to school tomorrow!” It’s finally Sunday—isn’t staying home to play video games the best?
“It’s not up to you.”
“Hey, hey, hey! Jun Lin, you’re picking on a kid!” Jun Yize scurried after them, grabbing the hem of Jun Lin’s shirt.
Jun Lin gave him a casual glance, his eyes sweeping over the hand clutching his sleeve.
Xia Ruohan swallowed nervously, feeling a tinge of fear.
“Skipping school to keep you at home as a third wheel?” Jun Lin said.
Jun Yize: “…With so many older brothers and sisters at home, plus Grandma Wu, aren’t they the third wheels?”
“I’m giving them paid leave.”
Jun Yize: “……”
This was exactly what he hated most about his dad!
Just because he’s rich doesn’t make him any better—his dad was still his dad.
Jun Lin pushed him aside, leading Xia Ruohan into the master bedroom, and slammed the door shut.
“Am I supposed to sleep with you from now on?” Xia Ruohan looked at the large bed in the center of the room and pressed her lips together.
“What else?”
Xia Ruohan blinked and said, “I’ve never slept with anyone else…”
“And you’d rather sleep with someone else?” Jun Lin narrowed his eyes dangerously, pulling her into his embrace and wrapping his arm around her waist.
“No, no. I mean, I actually sleep really restlessly. I’m used to rolling around all over the bed by myself, so having someone else there makes it hard for me to fall asleep.”
Xia Qianjin swore to herself that she had absolutely no intention of cheating on Jun Lin right after they got married…
After all, her will to survive was that strong.
