The Jun family’s ancestral home was situated on the outskirts of City D. Unlike Yujing Bay, which exuded luxury at every turn, this estate was simple yet refined, natural and unpretentious. A white villa nestled among lush green trees, it seemed to be far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, its tranquility and seclusion making it a place one could only long for.
Xia Ruohan had thought Yujing Bay was the finest villa community she’d ever seen, but she never imagined there was such a standalone villa on the outskirts of City D.
The car drove through the gate and came to a stop in the courtyard.
Jun Yize opened the door and got out first, while Xia Ruohan sat in the passenger seat, nervously peering out the window.
“Get out,” Jun Lin said.
Xia Ruohan turned to look at him and asked, “Are your parents and your grandfather easy to get along with?”
“Yeah.”
“Really?” Xia Ruohan found it hard to believe Jun Lin’s dismissive attitude.
Jun Lin said nothing. He got out of the car, walked over to her side, opened the door for her, and took her hand to help her out.
Feeling the sweat on her hand, he gently squeezed her palm and said, “Just act as if you’re at your own home.”
“I’ll try.”
She couldn’t even let her guard down in front of Jun Lin, let alone relax when she’d never met his family before.
Jun Lin led Xia Ruohan into the villa, which exuded a classical atmosphere. Inside, Jun Yize sat beside an elderly man.
“Great-Grandpa, look, the young lady is here,” Jun Yize said to the elderly man upon seeing them.
Jun Yeting looked over. Standing beside his grandson was a young girl in a pink dress, her jet-black hair cascading down her shoulders. Bangs framed her smooth forehead, and though her delicate features were striking, her nervousness was evident.
“Grandpa,” Jun Lin called out in a low voice. He walked up to him with Xia Ruohan and placed the gift he was holding on the coffee table. “This is a gift from Ruo Ruo for you.”
Though it was said to be from Xia Ruohan, it was actually Jun Lin who had someone buy it, using Xia Ruohan’s name as a pretext.
“G… Grandpa, hello.” ” Xia Ruohan hurriedly said, her words slightly stuttering from nervousness. After speaking, she bowed to Jun Yeting.
Jun Yize chuckled and said,”Miss, you don’t need to be afraid of Great-Grandpa. He’s very easygoing.”
“Huh?” Xia Ruohan bit her lip; she didn’t see Jun Yeting as the “easygoing” person Jun Yize had described.
“No wonder a young lady like you would be tricked into coming home by Ah Lin.” Jun Yeting smiled, took the gift, and had Jun Yize open it. As soon as he saw what was inside, he knew Jun Lin had sent someone to buy it.
Huh? Xia Ruohan was momentarily confused. Why couldn’t she understand what Jun Yeting was saying?
She glanced sideways at Jun Lin, hoping he would explain it to her.
But Jun Lin didn’t seem inclined to explain. He motioned for her to sit on the sofa, casually picked up an apple, and began peeling it for her. Just as he was about to hand it to her, Jun Yize shouted,
“I want one too!”
“Get one yourself.” Jun Lin didn’t even glance at him. He washed the peeled apple and handed it to Xia Ruohan.
Xia Ruohan said thank you and took it.
Jun Yeting watched their interaction and couldn’t help but shake his head. “Are you afraid of that kid, A-Lin?”
Xia Ruohan nodded, but then immediately shook her head. “No, I’m not afraid of him.”
Not afraid… she really wasn’t!
“Miss, no matter how arrogant my dad is, he’s still just a grandson in front of Great-Grandpa Zeng,” Jun Yize chimed in from the side.
Xia Ruohan: “……”
That’s impressive!
No matter how awesome Jun Lin is, he’s still just a grandson, isn’t he?
Jun Lin shot Jun Yize a cold glance and said, “Are you looking for a beating?”
Jun Yize: “……”
He kept his head down to save his own skin.
Well, no matter what, Jun Lin was still his father.
“Has my dear grandson returned?”
Following the voice, they saw a wealthy lady dressed in a Chinese cheongsam descending the stairs.
